I've just uploaded a video showing these Loquat trees 2 years since this video! Check it out here if you'd like. Thanks for watching :) ua-cam.com/video/myeAVYBjrAE/v-deo.html
My Japanese grandma used to have these in her yard growing up in California and I forgot about them until today when I got some in the mail from my mom… It brought back all these good memories and I don’t know why but they are not sold in the stores anywhere! They are my favorite fruit I forgot all about!! I am so glad they are back in my life!
When harvesting the loquat seeds wash and fully dry them. Before planting, remove outer protective shell layer on seed. [Do not soak in water (in cup) with protective seed layer still on] Also make sure sure you a planting the seed right side up. You can tell from the tips and the line (some people call it the equator line on the seed) on the seed. If you’re not sure which side is up and down, you can play it safe by just planting it sideways. Planting the seed upside down can really delay sprouting and growth (potentially root growth). If you plant your seeds some upside down and some right side up, you will see the difference between sprout time and growth.
😯🤗you grow all my favorite things!! Just ate two loquats and want trees!😁😋 🙋🏼♀️After a long time of trying to grow mangoes I finally got good at it thanks to you FYI✌🏻😘
Thanks for your guidance...We've had a loquat for years that's quite large, but that is just now producing fruit...It's yield is probably hampered because it's in a very shady spot...We'll follow your directions, and with luck, we'll plant any resulting tress in more sunny locations...Thanks from Charleston, SC...
I planted a loquat pit and have been watering it for almost a week now. Starting to think nothing was happening, and needing the soil that was in the pot for another plant I was transplanting, I dug it up. It has a root about 2 inches long. I planted it again. Any thoughts about how long it will take to sprout some leaves?
Im sure you can grow plenty of fruit. Apples, plums, strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, even walnuts, pecans, hazelnuts, possibly figs, Paw Paw fruit the list goes on. As you get into more warmer states its harder to grow more cold tolerant species
Hey, I have a few still in pots and a few planted. They can take quite a few years before fruiting when seed grown but they’re still growing well. Keep an eye out as I will be doing a further update on them in the future :)
I've got seedling growing all over the place from birds dropping the seeds from the back yard to the front yard .... and beyond !! Heads up - perhaps volume could be a wee bit higher pleeeze. Thanks for the video.
That's intresting to know I've having some medecine look type of plants in my backyard n i thought to myself like "hold on I never plants this" lol n you just made me discover it had to be the birds :) 👍✌
this season all three of my loquat trees had about 3 plus tiny worms (Maybe fruit flys not sure) in each fruit... I live in sw florida... How do i prevent this from happening in the future... sooo much fruit wasted... even when loquats were totally green they had these worms in them...gross! thanks
Does it really take 8 years to fruit? Thought these did it sooner, but don't really know. Sorry, the tree I got the fruits from was on a street where I used to live and I now live far away from there, so I no longer have access to a mature tree. Hope you can find one :)
@@TheKiwiGrower yeah bro takes about 8 years before they start producing Fruit . I miss being up north for loquat trees every where . My trees are 2 1/2 years into it .
Hi. It’s was just an experiment, but in the end both methods worked out the same. I would suggest just planting the seed as it is. No need to remove the skin of the seed :)
and they’re all different from tree to tree. I had one that tasted like pear-vanilla ice cream! Another tree’s loquats tasted like intense apricots. I bloody love them.
I've had an incredibly hard time trying to grow loquat from seed. I have one that grew out of pure luck because I planted the seed not even knowing what it was, it had been given to me, and that one is doing great. Once I found out what it was, I got about 15 more of them and have not even been able to make a single one sprout, and I've tried almost everything. Full sun, partial sun, full shade, a lot of water, a little water, take the skin off, leaving the skin on, normal soil, really rich soil, soak some in water for a while, plant others dry.......and nothing. Frustrating, but not giving up!!
Hey, not sure why they’re not sprouting for you. I would just say make sure the fruit you get your seeds from is ripened well on the tree and germinate then in warm temperatures. Good luck!
@@TheKiwiGrower Thanks KiwiGrower. I use the same methods to grow oranges, lemons, moringa, mango's, etc, but the loquat's have been much more stubborn. I think I'm just gonna put them out on the patio and let the rain work it's magic and cross my fingers. Thanks!
L don't know who tell you that LOQUAT planting with seeds, will get fruits >On my own experience, no even one fruit trees will have fruit. The only way is to graft the tree.
Yea can be a long time. I've just uploaded a video on how to graft loquat trees which speeds this up and means you'll get fruit a lot sooner. Here's the link if you're interested :) ua-cam.com/video/lOkFUHxO8ug/v-deo.html

Awesome! I picked up a loquat on a neighborhood walk and im going to try this. I love the way loquat trees look and those baby trees are so cute.
Thanks to the old owner of my new house i have some fruit trees including Loquat🌱🍊🌳🍎🍋🍈🍑😋
I don't know why watching you grow stuff is so satisfying
So glad I found your channel! I’m trying to grow these now.
Beautiful little trees. I sprouted 2 Loquat seedlings and I'm excited to plant them. Cheers from Ottawa, Canada🍁
Canada? Yikes!

Like I mentioned in my comment, if you can’t tell which side is up on the side, just play it stay and plant side ways.
Such an Amazing Tree to Grow . I am Growing two down in Queenstown .
Easy to Grow . Takes 8 years before they Fruit .
lies
The Animal m
Some fruit in less than 8 years. You can always graft your seedling with a mature loquat branch and you’ll have Fruit much earlier.
I have a question, do you keep them indoor or outdoor, when they were seeds in the pot?
I'm from Brazil and love a lot this chanel. Congratulation
Thanks so much for the support! :)
I appreciate the details and experiments as well. K thanks!!!!

Damn dude, you've got some beautiful, long thumbs! Awesome job with the seeds. You've inspired me!
You got four tiny trees, that's awesome! There's a tree like that one at my grandparents' house, it gets so full of fruit.
I searched for loquat seeds and this video came up! I never knew you did a video for this, I would have searched your channel :D
Haha sweet! I've got 3 videos on these and another one to come sometime soon as well :)
How long did u let the seeds set in water
How long will it take for the plant 🌱 to bear fruit, sir??

Awesome! good luck :)
so do you prune it when it gets bigger? Or just let it go lots of info left out
I can’t wait till your trees have fruit.

How long did they take to get to the first update here?
How often do you water them? Mine is a 3 foot tall in a pot. I just got it. How often for water? And should it be in full sun? Thank you
Love them 💕🌱
Please tell me what soil or mixture you are using? Thank you 🌱💕
Do you have an update video?
Theres an update now, check out his channel
awesome! free trees! great video :)
I have a Japanese loquat planted in Germany and I will get fruit again this summer
Awesome!
I am Indian can you delivered me Japanese loquat fruit tree.
How did these trees turn out?
Awesome, great video. Need to see what you're doing with kiwi:)
I need to move to a different state where it doesn't snow so I can grow some fruit trees.
Im sure you can grow plenty of fruit. Apples, plums, strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, even walnuts, pecans, hazelnuts, possibly figs, Paw Paw fruit the list goes on. As you get into more warmer states its harder to grow more cold tolerant species
You can grow everything, everywhere. Use passive heated green house.
I grow about 1000 trees each year.
How much time will it take to 🌱 sprout?
Depends how warm it is, but usually should sprout after a few weeks :)
I have to ask, did you put these small plants in the ground eventually and have you gotten a tree out of them?
If so, have your trees produced fruit?
Hey, I have a few still in pots and a few planted. They can take quite a few years before fruiting when seed grown but they’re still growing well. Keep an eye out as I will be doing a further update on them in the future :)
Would love to see how they develop, can't wait.
Cheers! Will definitely do updates on my facebook and instagram pages :)
is this can grow in Philippines?
Do they need full or partial sun?
Partial when they are young so as not to burn them and dry them out too much but they can have lots of sun when they get a bit bigger :)
I've got seedling growing all over the place from birds dropping the seeds from the back yard
to the front yard .... and beyond !!

Thanks for the video.
Yea they definitely seem like they grow easily from seed! Thanks for the heads up -will make sure for future :)

Sorry I didn’t get it.. so should I leave the seed’s skin in? Thank you!
I found it didn’t make a difference. So I wouldn’t bother taking the skin off :)
How long does it take to fruit from a seedling?
I've read it can take as many as 8-10 years, but we'll see what happens :). I like the tree on its own anyway, so can enjoy that in the meantime
6 years is the soonest that I have heard.

From where is rhis fruit?
YAJAMALU4U it’s native to southeastern China :)

My trees are 2 1/2 years into it .
I’m told by a grower that some will fruit as early as 3 years. Some in 5. All depends. Apparently they’re easy to graft.
I have try it lets see result
I don't understand well the difference between growing loquat with skin or without. Please can you write.

I used to eat loquats here in florida.
They're good right!
Absolutely delicious , like a mix between a pineapple , cherry , and sweet mango
