This show made me feel so warm, not just in terms of the positive representation it brings to the LGBTQ+ community, but it also gave me major F.R.I.E.N.D.S vibes because the cast just had so much chemistry. It made me realise people weren't as nice or supportive to each other as they could have been when I was in school, and that makes me sad. but I think we've come a long way as a society since then and It's really nice to see that things are improving and awareness is being raised all the time. I think I’ve surpassed 50 times.. I literally watch the entire series every day at work while I’m packing orders! This is the only show EVER that has wrecked me to my core! I came out as trans when I was 14 (I’m 38 now) and this show mirrored a lot of my high school experience minus the love story. I never got to experience that. Dealt with the unrelenting bullying to the overthinking everything and massive depression. I can’t even listen to the soundtrack without crying my eyes out. I’ve never loved anything more than this show and the books! 💕🏳️⚧️🥹🍂
the casting on this show is absolute perfection. each actor embodied their character in the most spectacular way that truly shows heartstopper brought to life. it feels odd to be incredibly proud of people who don’t know of my existence, but i am, along with so many others. i can not wait to watch this show/cast expand and i can not wait to see if we get a season two and what they will bring us!
You said it so perfectly. But eff to Netflix they always cancel and never make shows that viewers want. They never listen to their viewers hence their profit margins are down. We want 2nd season of this show already
I love how realistic this show was for lgbt youth! Especially the part where nick is trying to figure out what his sexuality is with the quiz. I felt that one so hard
When I saw Heartstoper my heart melted. It was like seeing my high school story play in front of me. I was a male cheerleader and had a crush on the cutest boy in school the boy all the girls wanted and all the boys wanted to be friends with. It was the late 90s and early 2000s. We became friends and fell in love. We had to keep it a secret because it was a different time. I had my own Kit Conner and he was beautiful.
I wish I had that. I also grew up in that time (graduated in 2003). I came out as trans in high school. I crushed on one of the most popular guys in school but it was never reciprocated. I did date a guy in school but like Ben, he was only using me and it was pretty toxic. And like Charlie, it made me feel so crap about myself that I felt everyone would be better off without my existence. So when Charlie had that scene with his sister at his drum kit, I sobbed hysterically because that hit right at home. 😭😭😭
I must say that the British teens' movie is the best. the casting on this series is so spot on. they look like teenagers not like American series that cast adults to play a high schoolers. I really love how the story goes. I know there're some books or series with a similar story but I just really love this series so much. as a person who was bullied from elementary school to high school just because I was kinda feminine and did not act like a normal boy I get it what Charlie must feel until some point I get used to getting bullied. I wish i can have a relationship like charlie and Nick, but to bad being a gay in my country is like a crime. so i always love to see a happy ending in a show.
Im a 30 year old gay guy and this is the first show in years that made me feel butterflies again in such a long time. I loved every moment of this show. I laughed, I cried, I screamed. The on screen chemistry is on point. Made me feel like a teen again
I think it could be the innocent pure nature of their relationship cos its new grounds for both of them and it can remind alot of people of how they felt when they first started feeling like they might be gay
Same, you know that Dispicable me scene where the kid has the stuffed unicorn toy and is yelling "It's so fluffy!" I felt like that the entire time watching this series. Sooo good and so needed for showcasing happy and lighthearted LGBTQ tv representation.
Joe (Charlie) is good but it's Kit's (Nick) acting that really stood out for me. You could really feel the struggle of that head jock archetype with an unconventional attraction and everything that comes with that. Kit delivered really well.
Yes! I agree! And I also think it’s because he’s more experienced when it comes to acting so he might find it easier to understand his characters more and express them well. 🤍
I mean, they look a lot older than the characters. But at least they do look like teens rather then adults. Plus I think the choice in other areas is great enough to ignore the age difference
@@georgiam.3957 of course he’s not too old. I never said he is. He literally is a teenager. I mean, there is quite a difference between a 16 year old and an 18 year old physically, but at least he’s not an adult. I’m more referring to having a 17/18 year old play a 14 year old. I mean, it’s a better choice then having people in their 20s play them. And I think they had to choose adults for the next season (the comics aren’t really appropriate for kids to act out). But people online are praising them for looking actually the age of the characters, without realising that they look nothing like what people that age look like. Which isn’t too big of a deal, but it does continue to perpetuate the idea that teens look likes young adult models.
I guess it would be too awkward to say that their favorite scenes were the kissing scenes??? Well, I’ll say it! They were my favorite scenes. I thought they were done so tastefully. And you didn’t feel ashamed after. I actually loved the way they embraced one another. To me it felt like a lot of pinned up stress that was released once they touched one another. Another favorite scene was the closing scene of season one at the beach. Nick racing toward the ocean screaming “were boyfriends!” And then the last shot of season 1 with Nick and Charlie in each other’s arms lying on the beach. I’ll never forget that image.
My favorite scene is the photobooth as it seems to sum up the delight they felt in their first real date that coincides with them being their full selves out in the world.
I think it's very impressive that at their age they managed to portray such emotionally-mature roles and a bunch of kiss scenes. From my personal movie experience, younger actors usually don't get so many usually (usually like one of two awkward kisses when they are meant to act embarrassed), and I'm always impressed when younger actors can portray emotional roles well.
The saddest part for me with Heartstopper is that it came out mere days ago and I already want a season two, knowing that it won’t be for a loooong time and it kills me, because nothing gives me the same feeling that this show does. So I’ll sit and rewatch it every day until we have a new season. :)
I love that several of the comments were obviously written by young royal fans 😅❤️ I’m guessing there’ll be a lot of overlap between the fandoms hahahah
i was blown away when i learned this was Joe's first acting credit, he did so incredibly well i couldve sworn he had been acting for ages. absolutely phenomenal, i'm praying for season 2 so we get the Paris trip!!
The episode where “Nick” is looking more into being gay and all his thoughts about, it made me tear up as it reminded me of my teenage years where I went through exactly the same. I had a very open talk with my mom about not knowing and I asked her if I was ok and if she’d but ok if I came home with a girl and she said “I’d love you no matter and you’re just perfect”. To this day I still get confused, but have never been with any gender. My mom is not here any more and the rest of the family is very homofobic. My friends how ever is not and they know. Thank you for having made a show so educational and close to how it is going through the transform, being confused and worried about the world reactions.
@@oswald3845 Thank you ❤️ It’s ok 😊 Just unbelieveable that we’re in 2022 and people are still not aknowledging other peoples love if it is not “a man or a woman”. I know of gay couples in Denmark who still are afraid of kissing and holding hands in public, just because they are worried what can happen. It’s not the same for girls, but girls are more asked questions like “who’s the father to your baby?” “Don’t you think the baby need a father figure in h*s life?” etc. In away I think people often only see the stereo types - like the really girly gay or the really guy’ish lesbian - on tv shows, tv and movies, they think that all LGBTQ+ people are like that, where in reality most are just like you and me and that’s also why I love Heartstopper, because it portrays two “normal” teenage boys falling in love. There’s no stereo types about them.
This show made be feel butterflies I haven’t felt since middle and high school and I’m 28 this truly a cute and amazing show. Randomly clicked on it and finished it on one sitting.
Nick was already a walking green flag and Kit's portrayal of him made him the greenest of green flags. 😭💗 HE IS ADORABLE. A golden retriever boy indeed. Kit got the nuances of Nick's character down to the T. Actually, the whole cast did with their respective roles. I couldn't stop smiling the whole time !!
Hahaha i keep finding your comments under the same fandom videos I watch (like skam, young royals,...) , weren't you from Germany as well?? Sorry if I'm wrong 😅😂
I watched this show in like a sitting, couldn’t stop for a bit, is soooo beautiful, and being a bisexual myself is really nice how they portrait how troubled we can get, and specially how late we can realize it and that’s okey! I was boiling when Nick is telling Imogen how you sometimes do stuff cause people expects you to, and ALSO is like so relatable cause as Charlie I also feel most of the time, how my existence is troubling for the people I care 🥺😍 obsessed w it…I’ll probably most definitely make it my comfort rewatch show❤️✨
I'm Bisexual too and well I also loved Nick's struggle! I identify with it a lot as I was discovering my sexuality and as a bi male I think they got us right! The bisexual community definitely needs to check this out because I believe all of us felt the same
I'm bi too and I found that Nick's journey in figuring out his sexuality was so well represented! It felt amazing to finally see proper, positive bisexual representation! It's an adorable, wholesome show and I really hope Netflix renews it for many more seasons
43 here. Cried throughout like a baby. I found the screenplay as it unfolded to be predictable, but I did not care. I was so invested. Kits performance in the episode 'Boyfriend' was AMAZING! He is a fine actor, and I look forward to seeing more of him as he further develops into a man in the future. That scene with Olivia Coleman at the dining table was one of the most heartwarming scenes I have seen. I wish that was my experience coming out. I was told the god invented Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve story. Times are different now. But still very difficult for many. For those LGBTI+ peoples emerging through self identification, I wish you all the luck in the world finding your place, finding your Nick, finding your Charlie, finding your people... For those who do not have supportive or understanding and loving family and friends, find strength in your respect and love for yourself. Steadfast! xo
as i was reading the graphic novel, i genuinely fell in love with nick as a character and how he was, but the way kit puts so much more emotion to the scenes and the genuine aspect of nick nelson.. such a beautiful character. i think whoever casted this whole series deserves an award.
My husband and I have watched this show....and rewatched it.....and rewatched it. It is so wonderful to be reminded of how wonderful it is to know and fall for another person! This show just makes us smile with joy for them both.
I finished watching the entire season in one day and immediately felt like watching it again. There’s just something so special and heartwarming about this show. The casting, the writing, the music throughout was all perfection. I really hope we get a season 2.
I'm just SO impressed by Kit Connor's performance I needed to say it somewhere; I hope people are telling him often enough! It just feels so great to be moved this deep by someone's acting. It's been a long time since I've felt every emotions of a character... Nick is so touching, and I feel so much love towards Kit Connor because he gave me so much joy to feel 💕 I wish him all the love & to be as happy as Nick was
Indeed… it’s rare to see the amount of nuance he brought to the role with his expressions (I have never seen someone act with such realistic gay panic ever), which makes the story that much more believable and, as you say, something that you feel.
Yes wow, I was totally flabbergasted by how good he is. His emotion radiate all the way through his body. His face, his eyebrows, his arms. The way he carries himself. How he walks how he sits. His arms really show a lot of emotion. An amazing actor really. 🥰😍
The more of these interviews I watch of Kit and Joe, I fall more and more in love with Joe. He seems such a sweet, lovely, decent, kind, warm young man. His voice is so sweet.
joe and kit are literally perfect for nick and charlie. on behalf of someone who reads the webtoon, THANK YOU. for bringing my babies charlie spring and nick nelson to life
26 and gay. the show reminded me how I felt whole figuring myself out at the age of 16. some scenes of nick trying to understand himself was too relatable to me. I loved how authentic the narration felt. the struggles. the confusion. I wish I had this show 10 years ago. when I felt alone and confused.
3:18 I would call it a “Warm Vanilla Cupcake”. Heartstopper is in the genre of LGBT romance webtoon where it’s warm and familiar in romance but sweet and fluffy in the way they tackle obstacles and challenges with sexuality or relationship dynamics
binged all 8 episodes in one night! absolutely love it. It’s different from what i usually watch but no regrets. easily one of my favourite netflix series, i already ordered the books and can’t wait for seasons 2 and 3. currently watching all the interviews and behind the scenes ❤️
Same, proper obsession. It’s replaced Friends as my comfort watch. The world is going through dark times and I read or watch the news and then watch an episode of this to calm down and feel some sort of hope.
Kit Connor was the perfect Nick Nelson! The popular boy who’s still a big softie!! Joe is LITERALLY Charlie Spring!! Everything Joe likes his character would like as well! Kit pulling Joe’s leg is so funny😭😭😂
I’m pretty sure season2 is going to launch when Alice finishes her final comic volume. They really have to visit France. Plus, the show introduce Charlie’s Eating disorder a bit in EP7 (or 8 I’m not sure) so I’m pretty sure they have to include all of that details. If we’re lucky they might just add 5-6 eps to cover more details that I’ve mentioned earlier
It just makes me so sad and jealous knowing what Nick and Charlie have. Their love is so pure but also vulnerable that it makes me very emotional. Hats off to the casting team for casting actual teenagers who made the show authentic and more relatable. Nothing but love and respect!
Heartstopper was a random Netflix recommendation I just clicked on because I wanted to watch something warm and fluffy, and now I've binged it four times in just as many days. I am in LOVE with the story, and the portrayal of the characters is just *cheff's kiss* I'm desperately wishing we'll see a season 2 of this. Please!!
Nick is definitely my favorite character in Nelson. The reason is because how sweet and innocent he is, and the scene where he hugs Charlie and cries, was really really emotional and beautiful and genuine. He just is so caring and such an amazing character. Kit is such an incredible actor.
@@cassroberts383 honestly, seeing how well it's done in less than a few days plus how many people love the books. I'd say there's a high probability of a S2
For me personally the best character was Charlie cuz i could relate to him a lot I've been in a toxic relationship like that and the anxiety around it was portrayed SO accurately always thinking if they even like you ,or are you annoying them, are they doing certain things just not to be rude, overall second guessing every nice thing they do for you. And seeing charlie go thru that and ending up with someone who actually likes him for him is just like a huge reassurance
I relate to him so much too! After being in a horribly toxic relationship I felt guilty getting involved with others that made me happy because I always felt I was dragging them down with my baggage. The way he constantly apologizes, feels like people are better off without him, second guesses everything, all of it hits so close to home. The scene where he talked to his big sister made me cry because I really understand how he felt. He loves Nick and the last thing he wants to do is hurt him so by creating distance he felt he was protecting Nick from himself. Ouch😭
I just wanted to vent this out that Joe literally did an amazing job portraying Charlie. He's a really really great and phenomenal actor. Also wanted to let Kit know that he's so handsome and perfect as Nick!
I love that ON SCREEN they have the greatest chemistry but irl they don’t have a shipping vibes which is good! So meanwhile they keep doing that on screen it’s perfect.
They both seem like such personable and wonderful people. I hope as they age they can keep these wonderful characteristics and grow every day into their authentic selves!!
@@cassroberts383 I think it’s pretty likely for them to make s2. Because first season covered books 1 and 2, and the 3 book is already out and 4 is coming out on webtoons, sooooooo why not?

the casting on this show is absolute perfection. each actor embodied their character in the most spectacular way that truly shows heartstopper brought to life. it feels odd to be incredibly proud of people who don’t know of my existence, but i am, along with so many others. i can not wait to watch this show/cast expand and i can not wait to see if we get a season two and what they will bring us!
Tao was way more sassy and confident in the show than he was in the comic - very different but probably even more entertaining.
Soo true exactly my words kit character just sits soo properly with Nick imean like he even looks like nick and same with Charlie .
So true, i can’t say anything more about it. You’re so right.
@@Ri57490 At the beginning he was sassy tho, cause he felt threathened and left alone.
Honestly same. I felt that one too

Oh wow, I can only imagine what this must have been like. What happened? Did you stay together after high school?
Same here !
Totally agree!!
It was the same for me, which country are you from?

The comic on tapas is still ongoing! It's a great read!
Give Young Royals a try, you wouldn't regret it ☺️
I think it could be the innocent pure nature of their relationship cos its new grounds for both of them and it can remind alot of people of how they felt when they first started feeling like they might be gay
Same, you know that Dispicable me scene where the kid has the stuffed unicorn toy and is yelling "It's so fluffy!" I felt like that the entire time watching this series. Sooo good and so needed for showcasing happy and lighthearted LGBTQ tv representation.

When's season two coming out?
Joe (Charlie) is good but it's Kit's (Nick) acting that really stood out for me. You could really feel the struggle of that head jock archetype with an unconventional attraction and everything that comes with that. Kit delivered really well.
Yes! I agree! And I also think it’s because he’s more experienced when it comes to acting so he might find it easier to understand his characters more and express them well. 🤍
I think Charlie's character and Joe's acting is really gonna stand out next arc! If you've read the books you'll know but if not look forward to it!!!
@@wisdom23feb62 omg yes i was just thinking this!!!
It’s Charlie first acting job so yea :>>>
i don’t wanna pick a fave, they’re both my fave XD
I'm glad that they are actual teens portraying teens, and they really looked like their characters in the comic book
Yes! I'm tired of seeing adults playings teenage characters, the casting director for this series needs a raise!
I mean, they look a lot older than the characters. But at least they do look like teens rather then adults. Plus I think the choice in other areas is great enough to ignore the age difference
agree 👍
@@babycakelings well Kit is 18 not too old to play a teenager
I hope you write; I hope you blog or make a webcomic or online book; I hope you share the link, here :)

@Ivanesa Ivkova - oh Ivanesa, you are so right. By the way, what does an intimacy coordinator, do exactly?

My favorite scene is the photobooth as it seems to sum up the delight they felt in their first real date that coincides with them being their full selves out in the world.

Joe Locke did a great job at all the scenes, especially Charlie's awkward smiles, he got all if em🤧
😭
I think it's very impressive that at their age they managed to portray such emotionally-mature roles and a bunch of kiss scenes. From my personal movie experience, younger actors usually don't get so many usually (usually like one of two awkward kisses when they are meant to act embarrassed), and I'm always impressed when younger actors can portray emotional roles well.

I’m so sorry to hear that, I hope you’re doing better now ❤️
@@oswald3845 Thank you ❤️ It’s ok 😊 Just unbelieveable that we’re in 2022 and people are still not aknowledging other peoples love if it is not “a man or a woman”.
