I met a guy who said that he was the miner of Louisianan brown opal. It did not have any real play of color. It was more of a directional sheen of color on a brown matrix.
Fantastic opal collection. I heard about Louisiana opal from Pulitzer’s last video. I did look it up online. Since it is only about 5 hours from me I’d like to check it out when I get the chance. Virgin Valley, Nevada is also on my bucket list.
Really curious for the treating and stabilising matrix opal! Looking forward to it. Thanks for making all those videos and sharing your learning curve so we can learn too.
Yeah I dont have any Brazilian yet but there are a few I didn't add here like Erongo, Owyhee Opal and a few others. Maybe at the end of the year I'll do a full collection review and show absolutely all the opal varieties I have.
Its really fun to work, pretty soft and looks great but I think faceting it is much better than carving or cabbing. Really old video working on one: ua-cam.com/video/0BPCGmP2l9Q/v-deo.html
There have been a few precious opals found in WA as well but the pink opal is pretty common. If you want more info on the pink opal from WA: ua-cam.com/video/IcscFM7hXFU/v-deo.html
Ohhh WOWWWW I'm so sorry but I couldn't help myself. I had to watch. It's still going to be a VERY BIG SUPRISE when I receive it 🎉. This is such a good collection! Thank you so much. I'm still on cloud 9 lol. You are very generous 😊
@@RoysRocks Thanks again 😊🎉. I'm so lucky 🎉😂. Very happy. I'm going to enjoy these so much. I sent you a message while in your shop before I seen this. I absolutely love all of it.
This would be the greatest prize I’ve ever won hands down, but just like every other contest I’ve ever entered; unfortunately I’ll be a loser. I am perfectly content with that it’s what makes me, me! Congratulations to whoever receives this amazing prize
This winner was already picked and this is their prize but there will always be another draw around the corner and everyone that wins says they never win...
I just checked the tracking because I thought it should have got to you last week but it looks like Auspost sent it in the wrong direction which has happened a lot lately. Shoudl still get to you this week.
@@RoysRocks Ok thanks heaps for that. I've been really panicking that they Australia Post sent it to the wrong person or someone has stolen it from my front door step after postie leaving it.
@@RoysRocks I received my package 😁😁😁. Thanks so SOOOO much. I'm very lucky. I was surprised to see so many different types. I've been through them all so many times already. You are a very generous person. I will cherish these beautiful opals. Thank you so much
Wow, that's awesome! I had no idea there were so many different kinds of opal out there. Also, I was wondering how many of them fluoresce under UV blacklight? Anyway, I'm sure the winner will be thrilled with their prize! Plus, thanks for doing this informative video ☺️

@@RoysRocks Lol. Recount
Great collection Roy. It would be a honour to receive this assortment.
Great assortment of stones for the successful entrant. Congratulations on the collection. 😊❤
Its always fun diving into the collect to make these parcels.
Yes there is Louisiana Opal. The high end stuff looks closer to treated andamooka matrix
Don Pulitzer has a video with some in it, maybe the last? or the previous one?
Did he? I've missed a Pulitzer Opal video? Damn youtube.
@@RoysRocks I can’t find it but look up Louisiana sand opal
Cool collection! That little piece of fire opal really glows, even through the bag.
I do have a soft spot for the fire opal. I want to get into faceting later in life to work some of it as it looks really cool faceted.
The Louisiana Opal is from Vernon Louisiana... little northeast of central Louisiana...
Cool I'll have to do some more googling with that extra info.
@@AlabamaUSA1234 Thanks, @Alabama. Was great that you could verify the stone. Have a wonderful day. 🙂Greetings from Victoria.
Fantastic selection . Love your work. 😊
Just a bit of almost everything I have. Only missing a few that I only have a single piece of.
I met a guy who said that he was the miner of Louisianan brown opal. It did not have any real play of color. It was more of a directional sheen of color on a brown matrix.
I have seen a bit of the brown matrix like stuff though I still need to get some myself.
@@RoysRocks I only saw that man once. It was at the Denver Gem and Mineral Show in the 1990's. I'm not sure if he is online or not.
Great video... That's a beautiful collection...
Its quite a decent instant collection for sure.
Fantastic opal collection. I heard about Louisiana opal from Pulitzer’s last video. I did look it up online. Since it is only about 5 hours from me I’d like to check it out when I get the chance. Virgin Valley, Nevada is also on my bucket list.
I'm about 5 hours from the Royal Peacock Opal mine in the Virgin Valley, Nevada. It's definitely on my bucket list! I really can't wait to go there.
Good luck. Not sure how easy it is to find material in those areas but hopefully luck is on your side.
Good video. Enjoy watching all of them.
There were some unusual ones for sure.
Thanks for the video Roy. Great collection.
Makes me realise how ridiculous my own collection is getting each time I put these together.
@@RoysRocks lol I can imagine, my own rock collection (not opal) is quite extensive and needs thinning out, but it's hard to decide what needs to go.
Really curious for the treating and stabilising matrix opal! Looking forward to it. Thanks for making all those videos and sharing your learning curve so we can learn too.
wow dident know there was so many different types of opal
This is probably still less than half of what is out there.
I was surprised that I recognized nearly every opal. Learned just from watching BOD’s, Pulitzer’s and your videos. What a great parcel!
Nice one! You've built up the knowledge through the power of UA-cam, really good to hear.
love seeing all the differant types of opal 😃
I used to make Colston Bassett Stilton cheese many years ago and the Dendritic opal reminds me of that
Haha I can see that.
Cool Danke fürs teilen
Lovely collection! Congratulations to the lucky winner, and what a generous human you are, Roy.
Just spreading the joy with one person at a time.
Very lucky winner, great collection of opals.
Sweet. Nice job Roy. Very generous excellent give away.
Plenty of others to come. Spread the joy.
Fantastic variety to the collection, only one I can see missing is Brazilian opal (I've only ever seen it on Opal Auctions).
