Thanks very much for this posting, British Pathe. Princess Elizabeth and her husband, Prince Philip, were spending the night at Treetops Hotel, Aberdare National Park, Nyeri, Kenya, on the evening of 5th February 1952, when Princess Elizabeth's father, King George VI, passed away in Britain. She went up Treetops Hotel a Princess, and came down Treetops Hotel a Queen the following morning of 6th February 1952. She later became Britain's longest reigning monarch in history. She reigned for a record 70 years. Rest in Peace, Elizabeth. Rest in Peace too, Philip.
Some Chinese tourists who visit Kenya, make a point to spend at least one night at Treetops Hotel, Aberdare National Park, Nyeri, Kenya, believing that it will "also bring them good fortune, good tidings, good luck."
Regards, Michael M. Kamau, Nairobi, Kenya, East Africa, 22nd February 2024.

The Queen is a very kind and smart woman, the child was confused and seemed to forget to give the Queen the bouquet, the Queen prevented the mistake that could happen by taking the bouquet herself 😄

I hope you know she had created labor camps in Kenya and stole from several countries.. My friends family herloom was stolen by her. My mother was named after Queen Elizabeth as she was born in 1962. Most of her agemates were also known as "Malkia" or Queen, which complicates the legacy of colonialism. What did Africans think of colonialism then, especially those far from the white highlands where discrimination and abuse from the settlers were less common? Seems the common people revered the royals.

صعدت إلى فندق Treetops Hotel a Princess، ونزلت إلى فندق Treetops Hotel a Queen في صباح اليوم التالي من يوم 6 فبراير 1952.

No they actually knew decolonisation was inevitable, in the 1950s the British government was bankrupted by world war 2 and that time colonialism was viewed negatively so they decided to transition Kenya from a colonial territory to an autocratic constitutional monarchy through the Lancaster meetings of drafting the Dominion of Kenya with Queen Elizabeth the second as Queen of Kenya and a British representative as the governor-general of Kenya and a Kenyan native who is a moderate (oginga odinga) as the prime minister of Kenya structured in the model of the Canadian government to bad for them the wrong set of people got to government and declared independence in 1964, Kenya became a republic and we became what we are now.
