  • My next major mod for the JKU is the AEV DualSport XT Suspension 2.5". I wanted the Jeep to remain "streetable" while capable off road. Thanks, Peden 4 Wheel Drive!
    There's a mistake in the "After" comparison footage. Please refer to 2:01 for the "Before" clip.
    Props to Christian @ Peden for the rockstar install!

    Hey there! How many inches did you get out of this lift? I know it’s rated for 2.5 but with less heavy bumpers, armor, etc I know if can get a little higher. Heavily considering the AEV 2.5 for my 2016 JK. How has it held up over the years?

    Thank you for the great video. I've got the same tires and a 15 Sahara Unlimited and am planning to go with a 2.5 inch Rough Country lift. Did you notice any different in street driving with the lift and higher center of gravity? Same capable driving in snow and ice?

    • @dudelum

      The AEV lift actually improved street driving over stock. Can't speak to the RC lift drive quality but I'm still happy with the AEV.

    Did you measure the free standing height of the AEV front & rear springs ?
    I'm looking for those numbers to determine if mine have sagged after 6 years on my JKU.
    AEV refused to give this info ... sigh!

    • @dudelum
      @dudelum  6 років тому

      Sorry, I didn't measure the springs after install. I've heard of others needing to change out to firmer springs because of sag. You'll likely get different outcomes with different vehicle loads and setups.

      Thanks! Cool to hear I'm not the only one that loves the subtle 'overland' aesthetic. The lift and wheel/tire setup has served us well across the country. I have the stock 3.21 gearing. You're gonna love the lift!

    Hey Awsome work, I'm looking at installing the 3.5 lift from. Aev. Do you think it would be overkill? Do you regret not doing the 3.5?

    • @dudelum
      @dudelum  5 років тому +1

      Thanks! I don't regret not going 3.5 at all. I made the selection based on my real-life needs and limitations. The 2.5 for me has been perfect for the city and has been surprisingly capable, even on technical runs here in the PNW.

  • @thomasjefferson3506
    @thomasjefferson3506 4 роки тому

    What is the typical actual life height for a stock JKU? I've read that without a heavier aftermarket bumper and winch, the actual lift height can be 3"-3.5". Since the AEV kit does not have a trackbar, I worry about the extra lift height. What about exhaust spacers?

    • @dudelum
      @dudelum  7 років тому +1

      You're going to love the lift and larger tires. Stock seems so "meh" now lol. I'm still running the stock tire carrier (over six months) with no ill effects as the diameter of the wheel + tire is pretty close to the original 18" wheel and tire. Thanks!!

    Did the 2.5 AEV level the Jeep perfectly or does it have a smilier factory look where the front end is slightly lower?

    • @dudelum
      @dudelum  5 років тому +1

      It didn't level it, as in removing the "rake". However, the aesthetics don't bother me, personally. Keep in mind that a "level" Jeep will appear boat-like when loaded down with gear. Something to keep in mind. All that said, I love the way it drives vs. stock.

    Hey. I noticed you did this lift about a year ago. Could you comment on your experience with the 2.5" AEV dual sport lift: has the city/highway performance improved over stock? Has the overall comfort improved too? What was the bill including labor for the install?

    • @dudelum
      @dudelum  6 років тому

      Hey. There was an immediate improvement in ride quality, notably with reduced brake dive. A year in, the ride quality is still night & day better over stock (city & highway). In stock form, the Jeep seemed 'squirrelly' and a bit jarring. The lift, along with the geometry correction brackets and post-lift alignment makes the JKU a great daily driver. Mind you, my 305/65/17 (

      I know this is an old comment but as I also came across this just wanted to leave one for others. AEV has a list of certified dealers on their website, I called Fortec in FL and they quoted me $700-850. I don’t think this kit should take more than 5-7 hours to install. Hope your rig turned out great Nick!

    what features made you choose AEV over other 2.5" lift vendors such as Metalcloak and Old Man Emu? I'm looking to lift my 2016 2 door sport and install 33's, but can't decide on a brand.

    • @dudelum
      @dudelum  7 років тому

      OME would have been in the running due to their great reputation but the shop I deal with didn't carry that brand. I went with AEV because of the kits' overall strengths fitting my needs. After returning from a 20,000 km trip, I think I chose the right kit. For my next tire, I'll actually "downsize" to 285/70/17.
