Those airy synth-stings that are used in breakcore always give me this weird feeling, like a blend of nostalgia but also an idea of the future. Hearing the Ape Escape and Wipeout OSTs as a kid blew my head wide open and I associated the music with this super high-tech world that was just around the corner. That future never came, but whenever I put one of these mixes on that feeling comes back. The media it was associated with is dated and dusty, and maybe the music is too, but somehow it still sounds futuristic. Like it' stands outside of time. Great mix, man.

Recently been wanting to branch out into electronic music production and have been exploring subgenres that I'm unfamiliar to try and find something that really sticks with me. I've returned to this video over 10 times within a week, have it downloaded on all my devices and am listening to this mix for the second time today before it's even noon. I've been listening to plenty of different playlists/mixes, but this is by far my favourite. Thank you :) P.S - If you have any resources that may be helpful for an experienced producer trying to learn more about breakcore theory/composition, please let me know!
For me with breakcore I use extensive trial and error to find something that sounds good, and stick with what sounds good. It’s important to keep in mind that even with breakcore being fucking crazy and fast and always almost tricking you with weird shifts in the beat and whatnot, you’re still essentially making normal-ish drums Everything that’s important when incorporating drums into a track is still important You still need consistency in patterns and something for a listener to latch on to before you do anything crazy, that’s why a ton of jungle producers and stuff can still use almost completely unedited breaks and make still genuinely interesting tracks out of it. Also listen to Venetian Snares, best breakcore artist of all time alongside Xanopticon
I used this mix, among others, to get through what was probably the most stressful time in my life. Helping me focus while working full time, then studying every minute of every day I wasn't working. As soon as it was over, my fiance broke up with me, presumably because I was having occasional breakdowns, a thing I never do. The mix is still good, but now instead of helping me focus, I get a physical stress reaction.
I think breakcore is a valid name for this but honestly just listening to it, I think of it as REALLY high quality, fast paced and atmospheric liquid drum and bass. Thanks for the mix and please keep up the good work
Breakcore is not a valid name for this in my opinion, Breakcore is very high bpm experimental breakbeat style music, this is just some chill DnB songs that the person who put the mix together labeled as breakcore to be a little silly
