They havent ran on the A train for years, now it only did for 1 day just for the retirement day Edit: God bless you the legendary R42, you served a good 51 years of service, I wish you and R32 a good time, and R32 is a mythic
Thank you very much ,my R-42 pal..... farewell, God bless you..... and goodbye...til we meet again 😞😭🎆🎆🇺🇸😭🥂🌮Thank you RIP 1969-2020 It's been a great pleasure riding in your subway car, and thanks again for your dedication of service throughout the city.
That was a horrible day to do the farewell R42 run because it was in the middle of a school day, and I had to miss this because of that. If only they did this on a weekend, it would have been better.
As a subway enthusiast since I was a little boy in New York, I always wanted to ride an r42 subway car, but sad I never got to cuz I had to freakin move to Canada and I'm still darn stuck here. Same for the r32. Hopefully they will at least be at the transit museum.
After the R32 gets retired, it's the end of the BMT "straight-walls". Does anyone know why MTA introduced the "kinked walls" for the R44 and later BMT models?
Sad to see my personal favorite cars go, but I think it’s all for the best. I couldn’t make it but I’m glad MTA did a bigger celebration than what they did for the redbird retirement
Lol I imagined having all OTTs use automated announcements. The voice sounds the same so I’m pretty sure they installed automatic announcements to this last R42 consist. I wonder why they did that? PS: I hope they overhaul the R46s once again but with Pre recorded announcements found on NTTs. The intercom system on the R46 is bad and not clear
In months the r32s will be retired also according to this video. I'm anxious to see what the C trains fleet will look like in a few months from now. In a few months there will only be one r211 and that will be testing so I want to kno how will mta pull this one off?
@@BenTheMiner r160 From where? All the r160s will be needed for QB CBTC and I'm talking march 2020 the r211 wont be here till summer 2020 so again what will the C use Cuomo lost his noodles
@@TheHomicide61 There's a difference between the R160A-1 and R160A-2 with R160B. One is a 8-car train for Eastern Division routes while one is a 10-car train for other routes. The C could get R160A-1 like it did in the past before they were transferred back to the J, L, M, and Z trains. Or they could extend the C to 10-car trains. Either way, R211 will expand the fleet.
Tech and Transit May I use some clips? I was in school today when it happened sadly I wasn't able to make it. So I would highly appreciate it if I can use some clips from your video. Please and thank you.
TA already decided to stop retiring shit. The 32s will stay until 2022. We went from 112 cars to 140 cars for active revenue service. We can't get rid of anything else anymore because we never fully recovered from 2009. Not to mention the 179s are rupturing brake valves now, so we're kinda fucked if that becomes a recurring issue.
Enrique Badillo actually no. The MTA has confirmed that the R32s will retire sometime around this year (most likely after covid-19) Since the R179s are actually performing good for once. Don’t worry though, the R32s are expected to get a farewell trip as well (line is unknown)
Jeff Mao um they already preserved a set of R42s at the transit museum. This set is special because it was featured in the chase scene of “the french connection” in 1971
You got the train daddy announcement!
Lmao weren’t you standing like right next to me?
lmao yea, but I wasn't already recording, so I didn't bother starting halfway through.
holy shit you are like a ancient commenter! I've seen comments from you dating back line a decade ago
It’s been an honor for the St. Louis Car Company R42. Farewell, R42.
This is your Shiiiining time
It’s been a pleasure riding on the R42! Happy retirement
Goodbye R42s, you will be greatly missed.
Jim Quinn yea =C
Especially on the M train😭😭😭😭

@Im a Train Fanatic is back Its still considered long time
Wonder how many riders didn't realize the train's significance. Instead for them it was just another commute.
I hope the R32s get a farewell run as well. They will be missed!
David Ng they should since they older
The news said it served us for 51* years
They would’ve been correct if the retirement ceremony was held on May 9th, 2020.
Wish I could’ve gone out to see but I’m too sick. It’s been a good run R42.
At least you have the video to watch.
Damn DJ Hammers so lucky being the conductor of the R42.
Wow, I wonder how that was possible?
@@BJMediaTransit8516 He's a lucky one out of many MTA workers to be picked.
R42 Productions he doesn’t get “picked” for the job. He works for the MTA AND the Transit Museum.
Thank You for your service 42s, Happy Retirement 1969-2020
funny how r42s get retired before r32s lmao
SO TRUE
Well.. even though I couldn't go there.. at least I had my special memories and times with the R-42 while I could've..

I love you R42S
The R42's were great cars R I.P, hope they're running in the subway in the sky
Whats even more sad is that I attended a Funeral today unfortunately. Sad times
R.I.P
After the R32 gets retired, it's the end of the BMT "straight-walls". Does anyone know why MTA introduced the "kinked walls" for the R44 and later BMT models?
good question
I personally prefer straight walls
Nice video! I’ll miss the R42s :(
I was on that train on 3:34 PM on broadway junction with Rosu UA-cam channel (R143 Productions.) I met various railfanners lmao.
I was all the way in the front I saw you
I missed this because off school why couldn't the MTA do this at like 4:00 or on weekend or literally any day next week because off winter break
I was there bro
Anyone know what day exactly the r211 is going to make its way to the mta subway and SIR??
No exact day, but months have been mentioned.
Only this July has been mentioned.

Wow. Last R42. I am going to make a video tribute like this to the R46
Nobody cares about R46 it’s bad it’s way worse R42 better R46 derails a lot
Rip
The R32s will retire this spring 2020
How? What will make up half of the C trains fleet then?
@@TheHomicide61 The R211. But I doubt they're retiring all of them then because they don't have all the trains yet.
I’m surprised the R32s weren’t retired before the R42s.
Byford said "DRIVING" the train

No OTTs, including these R42s, have ever had automated announcements installed.

Any preservation efforts for the R42??
William K Bolan as set has already been preserved in the transit museum
Another thing how the hell is the the R42 retiring before the R32
Probably performance or route priorities
Pixelshine 50 oddball R42s are easier to get rid of.
What will happen to the R42s now? Will any be preserved?
So far 5
At least I rode it like 2 times or more
I heard the R32 will retire in March 2020
Tech and Transit
Conductor Max Diamond..is that DJ Hammers
Yes, he is! In fact, I rode with him on the conductor pair.
Yep the legend himself!
Wow I never knew DJ hammers worked for transit
Salute!!
That's the a train to my stop
R32s are next

What's wrong with them they look ok to me
Now we just need two more trains to retired like the R32 and the R46 finally.
Let's not rush it.
tiger xman forgot the R68
LIAM ROBINSON I will miss all of these trains
I guess they will be scrapped. There is no way that they will go to NYC transit museum.

R62 Productions Storage and possibly get scrapped.
JeremiahC99 I think some of them will go to the transit museum
Chance they will dump some in the ocean.
