Very nice. First video I've seen out of a dozen so far that modeled the air pump so well. I also like your reservoir and will now steal the design. Thanks.

Thanks. Much appreciated. I put the video up so people could use the idea so "stealing" is the wrong word to use. :-) Good luck with your system. cheers.

Glad it helped you. I should mention that I changed the water regularly when it dropped to a certain level, usually the 3 liter mark. I'd start with the jugs full (4 liters) and it would drop over a few days. At first i was doing it once a week but in mid-summer when the plants were huge, i was changing the water every 3 days or so. I figured when it dropped a liter that the nutrient mix would be off and I should start fresh with good clean water and properly measured nutrients.

Kool man. Good video. And thanks for the info. Learning more about this stuff. Got to bottle towers but just with soil and plane water, and 4huge tomatoes in DWC i got made from tufferware. And 12lil tomatoes that just transplanted into DWC. Thanks, this video will help me alot on my next project:)

Hi there. I was wondering how the strawberries and peppers worked out grown this way. (from part 1 of your series) Did they get too heavy and fall over? What was the yield? Thanks for this video, it's very helpful.

Thanks for sharing and explaining so well! I am working on my own HP-system now. I was wondering how thick tubes are you using? Im using the same set-up as you are, with 5-6mm tubes, and it seems to be blowing a lot of air through the tube but not so much water. A close inspection showed me that once the air pump was going new water would not be allowed in past the needle. I suspect I have a too thin tube. What do you think?
    Thanks!

I hope you watched Part 1 as well. And remember, don't worry about asking more questions.

I never had that problem because I changed the water every few days and remeasured/re-added the nutrients each time. Maybe over time it would happen but because of water loss, I never went more than a few days before changing the water.

I've seen systems similar to this, but i was wondering, if you don't have a air stone at the bottom of the main container, would the nuitrents settle down at the bottom over time?

Hi! I am about to start building mine. I was curious about the inflation needle part. It looks like you attached an extra tube to attache the needle to the air pump?

+MindofMaria Hi, Have you watched part 1 as well? There are two separate tubes in the system. One has the inflation needle on it. The other carries water up to the top of the system.

Yes I have. I have decided to use another way of doing it. But using a tee and connecting the air to the water that way. Wish me luck! Haha.

I'm sorry to ask... my system keeps bubbling into the resevoir in steat of going up! i've got 1 tube from the resevoir to the top, this tube is with a loop to the ground, filled with water, the airpump is connected (inserted one in the other, closed with isolationtape) about 10 cm after the loop is going up. (i hope i explained clear) although however I connect my airpump: pointed up or down, it keeps sending air to the resevoir in stead of up... could you help me out?

No worries for asking. It can be tricky. It could be because there is LESS water in the tube BELOW the air nozzle insertion point than ABOVE it. So the air goes with the path of least resistance and pushes the air/water down out the bottom of tube instead of up. Also, try adjusting the amount of air pressure going into the tube. When i turn mine up too high, the air just shoots out the bottom of the tube instead of going up. Also play around with how far into the tube the nozzle is inserted. I did have the same problem when i started but continued to play until i found the sweet spot. If you can email a close up picture of the bottom than i can have a look for obvious problems. (zeptepe@gmail.com) Other than, feel free to keep asking questions and don't get discouraged, it will work.

zeptepe aha!! thanks!! Then I think it's the first thing you said, less water below the t-valve (I didn't have a needle, found a t-valve yeay!! ) then there is water above the t-valve. Unfortunately i cannot ajust my airpump :(.
I got it to work for 2 days. First halve hour it bubbled downwards after that 2 days very good work. But nowI'm back to square one. So this evening I will get back to work with your advice! Thanks!!
I will take a picture then aswell so hopefully we can get it right :)

Not sure how it would work w/ a t-value instead of a needle. I can't adjust my air pump but i have a spliter valve after air pump that i use for air pressure control. You can see it at the 2 minute mark in Video 1 of 2. (ua-cam.com/video/4uQ6Pc8YKr8/v-deo.html)

So how did it go? Did you get it working?

Hi, Actually the strawberries didn't go at all and I only had a couple of very small peppers so I ripped them both out and concentrated on the Basil because it was growing so well. My guess is that the nutrient mix wasn't right for them and by luck, it was perfect for Basil. That is, different plants prefer a different N-K-P nutrient mixture. That was something I didn't know before I started. At least that's my guess on why the Basil did so much better. More research needed to be sure. :-)
