- We just landed in Baghdad, Iraq and what a warm welcome we received!
From Baghdad airport the only way into the city is to pay the extortionate 40-50k IQD taxi price however we met a lovely Iraqi lad who gave us a lift for free out of the airport then ordered us a taxi for only 10k!
We checked in and did a little 40k IQD room tour, this place wasn't the best so a couple days later we moved into the center of the city for 45k IQD a night.
Still absolutely knackered after having no sleep the night before we headed out for our first taste of Iraqi food. We ate at a random kebab shop on the side of the street and it was alright.
Very much looking forward to this Iraq trip 🇮🇶

My granddad visited Baghdad in the 80's and he said it was cleaner and more beautiful than Paris. Absolute shame what the American's and British did to this lovely country. Hope you're able to show the world the beauty of these resilient people.
I think we will show it well. This country is beautiful, full of ancient history and some of the kindest people on earth
It's not the Americans and British that upset the Iraqis, it was Isis. Most people are very happy to be free of Saddam.
@@girlsontheloose1 ISIS didn't have aircrafts to flatten entire cities. If one was versed in Middle Eastern geopolitics they would understand whose agenda ISIS furthers. Saddam and Gaddafi were no doubt dictators but the majority in both countries now realize they were tricked by the West only for the purpose of robbing the oil (maybe children too).

And don't forget to try Masgouf (grilled fish) it's so delicious.

@@EllisWR amaze balls went to the fake McDonald’s called Mc delicious 🤣 liberation square and the markets are of the scale had some amazing interactions, going to find a nice kabab this evening and walk by the river Tigris for some content and hoping to take the sleeper train tomorrow to Basra have a day out in Basra then sleeper train back and spend Monday with Abbas if he is free , coming back with my partner and kids for sure they will love it 🤙🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻 got some sneak peaks on my TikTok but the videos will be out in a few weeks got such a backlog of content 🙌🏻 need to change money bad but currency exchanges are not open till tomorrow for some reason or might have to use a cash machine somewhere maybe 🤷🏻♂️ any advice much appreciated, my hotel is literally opposite the Tigris 👌🏼
Don't use a cash machine mate you get absolutely shafted. Any business pretty much like go round asking restaurants or anywhere they will take your dollars and give you the rate thats like 148,000 for 100 usd. Bank gives you such a low rate lose like 20 quid. Enjoy keen to hear how Basra is we didn't have time to go south!

Hey Alan sometimes they are a few days behind sometimes they fall like a couple weeks, here you get 60 days visa on arrival but we will probably stay 30 or so!

Food is good in Iraq .not convinced you will love it there as there isn't really much to see and do. . Go North to Kurdish area as its the most interesting part of the country in my opinion.

They have destroyed Baghdad’s heritage and are spreading rapidly like insects. They are not educated, have no culture, and do not respect anyone. Even Saddam Hussein doubted that their origins are Indian. We call them Shirouji in Iraq. They even stole the areas of the Jews, Christians, and Sunnis, who made up 80% of Baghdad, but not now, unfortunately

Hi, 1st of all welcome to Iraq. The room you stayed at isnt a hotel, and honestly I dont know how did you get into this guy. We dont have realy a BNB like system in Iraq so you will fine thay good hotels are on the expensive side. I would recommend for your next time visit to be connecyed with somebody local before you visit as it will make life much easier for you.

We changed to a hotel in the center next to liberation square and was great! It was Eid so expensive and we couldn't afford that's why we were in that place!
