I grew up in a farm town in western Nebraska. I remember being this impatient, teenage driver, tired of fields of corn passing me by, and sick of farmers driving 40 mph down the highway, in front of me, as they viewed their neighbors corn field. Now at 66, I would love to experience, again, that feel of cruising past the fields on the wide open land. But I still dislike slow drivers, but in a more patient way.

You just saw the real Midwest! I am 71 and live about 10 miles away from where you were in Moline Illinois. If I would have known you were going to be so close I would have had you come to my farm to stay, take showers, do laundry, feed you and shown you our little town that has the same hospitality. Elsie and her little tavern reminds me of when I lived in Alaska. There's so much wide open space in the state, when you're traveling you'll come across very similar little owner operated establishments. They're truly wonderful places to stop, rest and grab a bite to eat while getting to enjoy the most personable service and a great conversation. Now I'm in San Diego... I so miss places like this and the wide open spaces.

With all the crap happening in the world my soul is overtaken with grief and fear. Your daily videos however have filled me with warmth and joy at the experiences you are sharing with us. First of all just watching the 3 of you be a family is heartwarming but also experiences like the one in today's video with you meeting and spending time with Elsie and her friends reminds me that there is kindness in the world. You just saw the real Midwest! I am 71 and live about 10 miles away from where you were in Moline Illinois. If I would have known you were going to be so close I would have had you come to my farm to stay, take showers, do laundry, feed you and shown you our little town that has the same hospitality. Elsie and her little tavern reminds me of when I lived in Alaska. There's so much wide open space in the state, when you're traveling you'll come across very similar little owner operated establishments. They're truly wonderful places to stop, rest and grab a bite to eat while getting to enjoy the most personable service and a great conversation. Now I'm in San Diego... I so miss places like this and the wide open spaces.
