Crazy how far modifications have come for import cars today, watching this it's humorous how little power this car made but it's here for nostalgia and maybe some documentation purposes, I think it's pretty neat.
Hopefully it didn't cost ya more than when it was new, crazy the prices for old Hondas that were actually kept stock. If it really is 100% original you might just destroy the value messing with it

I can truly say Honda is king of 4 cylinder motors in reliability , endurance. Power. Performance after upgrading and even tuning , i used to own a b series running 7 psi , great set up , lasted 10+ years

The moment you quoted factory rating just killed whatever point you made. Cars lose power through the clutch, flywheel, trans and axles. If anything, their driveline design is incredibly efficient or Honda slightly underrated that engine combo. ( I'll be rounding the gains) The car rolled the dyno stock near 110 hp. Do the math and realize that 110 would be about 84-86% of the rated horsepower . Adding 20 hp to a 110 hp car is literally adding almost 20% at the wheels. If you add driveline loss, you looking near 25% gain. That's all bolt ons, and no tune. That's impressive for NA car using 25+ year old technology in an era where getting an actual custom tune was hard to come by.
My thoughts exactly. With an ecu tune,bigger injectors. It def would get some better gains that was the tech we had back then, Honda heads didnt have many costly tuning options in the US back then. I miss those days But I'm happy tech has changed.

I always remember thinking it was so different when Chuck and Joe did episodes working on imports.... I now kinda wish when doing that they had been able to sneak in one that was an MK4 Supra or an R34 or an RX7, or even an NSX. Those couldn't happen but it's a shame as those are such cool Asian import cars to build. Please upload the next episode that's building a Ford flathead v8 that they previewed at the end of this episode.
I use to tinker with Integras, I threw a ebay turbo on it with a basic street tune and from a 30-40roll they can be fun but from a stop when you try to launch it they just spin tires going through 1st 2nd 3rd gear before it catches traction (spinning isn't winning) I perfer my American Muscle cars now but I been through my import phase..
I never got into them, always a v8 guy from birth, loved my pop's 84 Bronco with it's 351W n all them v8 muscle cars.. Respect to all car guys tho, whatever they like to play with.. i do like some imports tho..

A fwd car will always be at a disadvantage. When run against a rwd car of equal weight and power the fwd will always lose. The Hondas NEED that 600 hp just to keep up with 350hp rwd cars.

This was 1999 man, and this is the base model integra. A GSR or Type-R with these same mods, without nitrous would gap the gti even with a tune. Only recently have VWs been any kind of decent after a tune. Back in the day it took significant stuff to make a GTI even touch 14's. 13's was different turbo and fuel upgrades territory. But, to play the game, around this time you could just buy an AWD DSM, spend $0 in free mods, spend $50 on a boost controller, and $100 on a Walbro 255 and run mid 12's all day long. 0-60 in the very low 4's.
