Rohit was plumb against mark wood. Atleast umpire call if not hitting but since world cup is being played in India. Bcci gave a huge amount of check to 3rd umprire and he showed wicket was missing 😂

I feel sorry for Shami. Very often overlooked in favour of the newer bowlers. Always was and still is a bowler with a big heart
they can't drop him now with his performance in the last 2 matches. they need him for the semis and finals cuz India's batting is not the strongest. Like last world cup in the semis, Rohit Sharma, Virat and Dhoni all got out at 0 to 10 runs and the entire batting lineup collapsed to pressure and they couldn't even chase 240 runs. All these other batters NEED TO SERIOUSLY STEP UP BIG TIME for the semis and finals in case Rohit, Virat or both play some risky stupid shot at get out at 30 to 40 runs or something. Can't just rely on the bowlers and maybe they should remove Shreyas when Hardik is ready to play! If India bats against Sri Lanka and South Africa in the next 2 matches the way they played against England, we won't win cuz those other semi final teams can all chase it! And no doubt Australia, New Zealand, Sri Lanka and South Africa might be studying Shami, Kuldeep, and Bumrah's bowling to figure out how to beat it!

And all the other teams that get into semis must be studying the Indian bowlers cuz they are far stronger than our batting. Last world cup semis, India couldn't chase 240 especially because Dhoni, Rohit and Virat all got out under 10 runs and hardly anyone else stepped up to the pressure to chase even 240. India can't bat the way they did today against Sri Lanka and SA in the next 2 matches or semis and finals, otherwise they definitely won't win!

Dhoni was run out at 50 in the match against Newzealand where India lost and at that time Indian selectors discarded their no. 4 batsman over playground spats and sent Hardik Pandya, who back then was used purely as a finisher, to play the anchor role before Dhoni. Keep in mind this was the match where Dhoni and Jadeja had a 119 run partnership before Jadeja departed
Compared to back then the middle order is way stronger this time around
India only batted the way they did today as the conditions favoured bowlers, I mean did you see the amount of swing Bumrah got or the amount of turn Kuldeep got

This English team at World Cup reminds me the Indian team of 2012 especially the test team. They were thrashed 9-0 in Australia and England. That team comprised of Zaheer, Sachin, Dravid, Laxman, Sehwag etc. All of them champions in their hey day but that year was a bridge too far and they struggled really bad especially against Australia who had their weakest team in a long while. That is when the rejuvenation of Indian test team started with Kohli ,Rohit, Shami etc.. Similar time for England. Bairstow, Root , Stokes each a champion but a bridge too far now..

Shreyas there is no hope. Even the very first short and bouncer he is getting out is really out of hope . Almost all matches he got out in same fashion. It's running out of time . Replace with ishan if pandya is not fit or will try out with shardul fir extra bowling option

SKY has earned his place in this team now. Can't have him out amymore because of his matured innings and the ability for a situation where he can go bonkers in T20 mode. Once Pandya is back, KL could be 4, Pandya 5, SKY 6, Jaddu 7. If India wants 3 spinners, Then Ashwin in for Siraj.

Last World Cup, India reached the semis but Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Dhoni hardly made 0 to 10 runs and that entire batting line up collapsed and we couldn't even chase 240 runs. It is so bizarre how Eng are playing. Apart from lack of confidence and just poor morale, there is no reason for this team to be performing like this. But make no mistake, India earned that win. Apart from Siraj, this was a fantastic bowling performance. Shami and Bumrah were magic and Kuldeep made Buttler and Livingston look clueless about which way the ball would turn. Jadeja is accurate as always. Rohit is batting like he's a man on a mission. I think Kohli, Shreyas, Rohit, and Rahul threw their wickets away. If Rohit had stuck till the end, India would have got around 270.

Sachin was the 2nd highest run scorer in the 2011 world cup only marginally less than the top scorer at the age of 38. England's sr. players are around 34-36 yrs. That's not over the hill. They just have not played well.

Sure you could say the result matters more and the situation isn't demanding enough when Kohli comes to bat to have a high strike rate, but that is because as a bowling unit India has been constricting opponents extremely well AND Rohit Sharma plays aggressively during powerplay such that Kohli doesn't have any run rate pressure to give attention to. To give context of this, average score of an opponent against India till now in this WC while CHASING is 238 runs per match and Rohit has scored more runs than Kohli with a 50% better strike rate in this WC while chasing.

I don't think they dominated 1999 WC, they lost 2 of their 1st 3 matches in group stage and tied a SF to win the WC!!

Not sure who gets to pick the playing eleven. Considering its the management (Coach+Captain+VIce Captain) i.e Dravid, Rohit and Hardik/Rahul, they have certainly erred in team selections. Shardul Thakur shouldn't be in the squad let alone playing eleven but he played 3 matches to begin with with zero contributions. Mohammed Shami who has the best strike rate amongst all the bowlers in WC history warms the bench is beyond common sense.
Also, Shreyas Iyer is very poor playing short ball. He is not cut out in the playing eleven as all teams are targeting him on his weakness and he has been a walking wicket. He is temperamentaly weak- has thrown his wicket each time he has come to bat this WC. Ishank should be a better choice in playing eleven considering he can adjust to all gears, plays short ball better and is a valuable asset as a left-handed batsman.
Yesterday was a perfect situation to play Ashwin instead of Siraj but they didn't take that step. So there are some concerns.
India is winning despite all of these mistakes is a testament to how well Rohit has led and utilised his resources on the field. Credit to Rohit I would say.
