Robtop doesn't like it when we make levels with coins that are too secret, while he himself makes levels with coins that are very secret and beyond reason. Robtop be like: "it's also called a secret coin, which means getting it is also secret, while your level uses user coins, which means it shouldn't be too secret and should look a little"
A lot of these coins are good, but some don’t feel difficult enough, or are too easy to find. For example, the Polargeist coin is very obvious and the Time machine coin isn’t difficult enough for the seventh level in the game. It isn’t too huge of an issue and I think they are all good improvements nonetheless.
Thanks! I agree that I am not super proud of some of the improvements I made. However, I still hope at least all 10 coins were made better than their original versions.
Imo, Clutterfunk 3 was fine. Gameplay could've been better. But it being a secret is why it's good. You can't call a secret coin a secret coin if it's in the middle of the screen and pretty easy to get. The coins are optional, and should be harder than the main path to get, and a secret. Secrets in games are usually rewards you get for exploring when you didn't need to, so having it down there makes completely sense with the idea of it being a secret. You could've improved just the route to get it instead of moving it. And, to all GD players, don't make coins easy to get or some key to pick up like Deadlocked 1. Coins are rewards for doing something challenging or finding a secret like 1-ups in Mario.
Not all secret coins are secret. In fact, in most official levels the coins are out in plain sight. I agree that coins should have difficulty which makes them feel good to get, but that difficulty doesn't always have to come from being hidden.
New ranks: Dry Out 1: B+ (a little too fast but less a blind jump) Time Machine 3: S Clubstep 1: A+ (looks menacing but very fun to get) Electroman 3: S (actual challenge involved) Can’t Let Go 1: A (less mean than the dry out one) XStep 2: S Clutterfunk 3: S Base After Base 2: B+ (short but fun) Polargeist 3: A (a wall coin with real gameplay? I like it) Can’t Let Go 3: A (another case of looks menacing but a vast improvement)
“The pink pad or pink orb wasn’t introduced yet” Explain why using the xStep slab thingy that appears in the ball parts of xStep (which wasn't *introduced* yet) is ok for stereo madness 3rd coin, and most the coins you revamped in this video (dry out 1st coin, cant let go 1st coin, Time Machine 3rd coin.) (no offense, just a question)
I was trying to stay consistent with other Geometry Dash coins. Several other coins use that block, so I thought it was okay. It would be different if it was a game mechanic like an orb or jump pad, but it's just a platform.
gotta love how the thumbnail has the polargeist 3rd coin changed into a free coin at the end of time machine (which is supposed to be fixing the coin somehow...)
Your version of time machine 3rd coin is not that good, why make hard gameplay with reversed ship for new players if they try to get it. And no im not saying that the levels you did are going to be experienced by new players but still pretty bad version. Not being mean or toxic but its really not that good.
Okay, I get where you're going with this. But from my perspective, coins need difficulty to feel rewarding to the player. Besides, it's optional. So if you're not experienced enough with ship flying, don't go for the coin.
0:54 meanwhile using 1.3 platforms in your revised dry out coin 😂 I don't blame you, just keep that in mind. I personally would replace them with the regular slabs, but that's just me
I used those platforms because most coins released before 1.3 featured them. It would be different if I used a mechanic like a jump ring or pad that wasn't introduced yet, but it's just a platform.
@@GDGroundflower now that you mention it, I can see why you did that, it's just that I would personally use regular slabs seeing as dry out is a 1.0 level, & I also just found what you said at 0:54 a little contradictory with what you did with that coin. I do that more than I should tbh
You could make a taunting coin at the end of a path that is a couple of seconds long, and add a slightly visible "crack" in the gameplay. The key to getting the coin is pieceing those two clues together and fall at the right spot into an alt path.
Some of these coin improvements are really good, but some aren't and are too easy to collect. Which is ironic since that was your main complaint for coin number 1 in Clubstep.
@@TJ-hg6op The Clubstep one is an improvement. But I'm talking about the other levels. Most notably Dry Out, Base After Base, Can't Let Go, and Clutterfunk. I think these coin "improvements" that OP made now have the same problem as Clubstep coin 1 had before. I think the coins are too obvious, and are easier than the main path. And the one in Electroman Adventures barely changed.
As much as I want to say these are Cologne-approved, I feel like he'd still complain on one aspect: the difficulty. Where's the challenge? Where's the spice? In my opinion, the only decently good ones here are Time Machine's 3rd, xStep's 2nd, and Electroman's 3rd; the rest are pipsqueak as hell. For example, you pointed out that Can't Let Go 1st has no gameplay, but your improvement only added a single jump, and an easy one at that. Sorry for the blabbering btw. The coins are good effort, but if you're gonna make a sequel, I do hope you make the improvements much tougher.
This is going to be a weird idea but I think it would be cool if the position of the coins randomises each attempt, and there will be like 5-8 coin paths with only 3 of them being the correct one. Since taking the wrong coin path won't kill you, it wouldn't cause any notable harm doing so. Edit: Second thoughts, this is a stupid idea
Wait, wait. If you complete back on track and stereo madness but never got any of the coins, do you have to get the coins from the previous level you completed? Well like Polargeist 3rd coin has gravity portals and jump pads but you already completed Dry Out. So, what's the matter? Well Can't let Go's 3rd coin has the purple or pink jump pad but Jumper introduces upside-down ship, so it does matter!
And some of these coins also look freer than they should be. Like you said, coins are supposed to be rewarding when you made them obvious and I think should be moved to different spots in a level and have their paths harder than the main path
Cant let go coin 3 seems to be even worse because there are too much shit being revealed down there. It should be just the coin instead of the whole path of getting being visible. Otherwise decent revamp :)
Ah yes, has a ton of unintroduced mechanics, way too hard for a normal, and had blind jumps. That isn’t just hard, its bad design. Though I do think the new one is a bit too easy and could’ve included a yellow orb.
@@tcg_2025 The original version of the video featured the Time Machine song, but I had to cut it out after the video released.
