Premier League clubs have voted in principle to introduce a spending cap in the 2026/26 season that would anchor spending to around five times the TV revenue of the bottom club in the league.
Manchester United, Manchester City and Aston Villa voted against the spending cap while Chelsea abstained. The final vote is in June with 14 clubs needing to agree.

Hmmm i wonder why city did 🙄🙈
Hopefully a step in the right direction something needed to happen
Once again the premier league is limiting their own ability to compete in Europe. There is a reason, Real Madrid, Bayern, Barca even PSG lately have been doing very well in Europe. They just outspend everyone else. Premier league clubs have financial staying power, they have vast fanbases all over the world. Introducing this spending cap like American sports is just limiting the top team’s abilities to acquire the best players in the world. Smaller clubs are clearly stoked but in the long run, it’s hurts the PL’s ability to compete in Europe
When Man City will be relegated for the 115 allegations?
Provide evidence for your claim
City ARE guilty. They will use every loophole possible to try to weasel their way out of it. They should be punished. Peps achievements mean nothing anymore, as we have seen how they did it.

Eghbali in an interview
“We looked at it and we think European sports is probably 20 years behind US sports in terms of sophistication on the commercial side, and sophistication on the data side.”
“I had one super high-level sporting director at the world's biggest, top three European football club. He tells me when I asked about their approach to data, and said the data is his eyes. He has six scouts, no data.
Any league here in the US, there are 20-30 data analysts and wise use of data.”
European football is not suited to data analytics and reporting because engagement is linked to personalities in the sport. We also have to factor that primary data does not align with the "eye test" that shares equal importance in football.
The use of data would alienate a majority of the opinion based punditry and reporting and likely disengage consumers from pre and post match economy. In American sports, engagement is highly data driven and consumer engagement is limited because opinion is nullified by facts. I prefer the stats and performance measurements as a contributing point of discussion not as the basis of the analysis of the sport/industry as a whole.
No thanks ,American made isn't built to last,
Can you show me the data why american football is call football .

Football manager about to become more challenging of a juggling act
Nah Football manager has barely any FFP/PSR stuff in it, if you do a Newcastle career you can blow hundreds of millions when in reality they can't.
Way too late, should have come in years ago !
It’s the only way. FFP only served to lock in a permanent advantage for the top 6. Team values will soar if potential buyers can actually have a realistic idea of what the season by season budget will be.
Big 6 fans will cry now knowing their special success buying clubs have other clubs that can compete..
Man City voted because they get the most revenue from UCL and Aston Villa voted against because this means their new UCL revenue next season cannot be spent on getting new players.
Dumb idea, it just means we'll lose out on top talent to the other top European teams
We already do. They have better weather.
I think this is a good rule for the premier league. But not for English clubs in Europeon competitions. We already have both English team out of the Champions league and one left in the europa
This is something that could absolutely kill this league once and for all. Spending cap leads to less and/or cheaper transfers, leads to lower wages leads to less high-profile players wanting to play here, leads to less publicity leads to less TV revenue. Rinse and repeat and before long all the other top 5 leagues will surpass the PL in every way you can think of. Smart move!
Premier league done now how can ypu expect clubs to compete with real madrid in champions league if your cutting down the spending 🤷♂️
I'm happy to be corrected if wrong but this is surely a good thing for the premier league? It allows teams to spend 5 times what the bottom team spends. So in theory if they want bottom teams can spend way more as well as mid table to 7th placed teams...the only teams this goes against are the top 6 because now if other teams owners want to they can match their spending.
People see "cap" or "spending cap" and immediately think it's a bad thing when it's only a cap on the top 6 atm.

Why?? It allows them to spend more.........
@@jdogg448It doesn’t though. This cap is in addition to new 70% spend of revenue on squad costs (85% if out of Europe). So Newcastle with probably £300m revenue this year can still only spend £210m on squad costs if they are in Europe. Man Utd have a revenue of £750m so would normally be able to spend 525m in Europe but with this additional anchoring will be limited to £450m. It closes the gap but doesn’t allow any club to spend more than the 70/85%.
