- Time for one last hit-out - on-road and off - in Jeep’s legendary hard-core ‘shorty’ off-road icon with V6 power.
Jeep is the globe’s most famous off-road brand and the traditional two-door Jeep Wrangler is the model most closely linked to its WWII origins.
Nowdays only available in Australia as the go-anywhere Rubicon, the Wrangler ‘shorty’ is soon to have a heart transplant from traditional V6 power to a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol four-cylinder.
So it’s time for one last run in the Wrangler Rubicon as we know it. Then we can decide whether to bid farewell happily or with regret.

I loved my 6 cylinder pentastar engine on my 17 Wrangler. RIP!
It'll be missed, no doubt.
In the world of IFS, I’m great full for the Jimny, Wrangler and 70 series. The Rubicon is set up with solid axels, coils, lockers, sway bar disconnects 77:1 crawl ratio, steel winch bar and muddies. Yep expensive, but no one said off-roading was cheap.
Fair call.
There’s been a turbo 4 available in the USA for years. Also a turbo diesel engine was available up until 2023, which I’m surprised isn’t available in Australia and then there’s the 6.4 liter or 392 and a 4xe plug in I don’t know if the last 2 are available outside of the USA
The biggest concern with this vehicle is the people testing them , the wrangler series is primarily designed for off road use and to still be some what road use able . If you want it the other way around then Jeep has other series of vehicles that are brilliant on road and trail / off road capable .As for the safety rating well the Wranglers have a full passenger roll cage , why don't you view the American collision test videos , you will see it's strength then . The doors are removable so don't you think it makes sense to not have control switches located in the doors . I mean the points I have put forward should be obvious to a motoring professional .
They're still issues that will vex some buyers, and had to be addressed as a result. We report on the good, the bad, and even the ugly. Thanks for commenting.
Another reason why the pentastar Wrangler was good: for whatever reason, the new 2.0T 4-door Rubicon has a payload of 435kg before even filling up the fuel tank. That’s according to Jeep Australia’s spec sheets. The pentastar version had 570kg.

What's the most popular car in Kenya? We're gonna guess Toyota HiLux but have no idea really.
@@carsalesYour guess is right, anything toyota
great truck for the trails, crikey that price though?!
Not cheap, for sure. Fairly well kitted out with off-road equipment though.
Sadly, prices are like that. Wranglers have always been priced like Mercedes C class with 2 litre engines. Carsales lacks the analytical skills to mention that.
Seems to me to be useless. The bench seat sinks the value of this car for me. It's basically a 2 seat vehicle. Good looking though.
It's unstoppable off road, out of the box. Not much can touch it.
The tank 300 is fantastic value for money. But lets be honest here. In terms of offroad capability the wrangler kills the tank, easily. If you think the tank can go anywhere a wrangler can, you're flat out lying to yourself or maybe just blissfully unaware of the wranglers capabilities. But if you spend most of your time on the road or dont have a ridiculous budget, get the tank. But dont pretend its as good as the wrangler. It's not.
Tank 300 doesn't have a proper rival yet .Should just wait for the Thar 5 door if it arrives 🗿
So much for Jeep to come up a V8 Wrangler with limited edition 427 Hemi
This isn't a 2024 model. This is just a click bate video
The price is an absolute joke. $100k driveway for these is 30k overpriced at least
Get the tank 300
Hard to beat the Haval - GT AWD, which is halve the price.
Put down the pipe. One can tackle the outback with zero mods, the other would struggle with wet grass.
Too Overpriced
Mahindra THAR has better value .
the tank 300 is rubbish, remain objective! compare apples with apples…
Tank 300 is better
That rear seat rolls forward further, so there is plenty of room.
By the way this is a 2023 model. Why review when it pretty much out of stock?
"Wrangler Ultimate 5 door" and "Darna Diffs" 😂😂
I've had my 2022 Rubicon for a year now and love it.
They're clueless mate. They take the Mazda and Kia hatchback review template and replace the brand and model names.
