  • I got out this past week to do a bit of Euro Nymphing on my local river. The weather and conditions were on my side and I was fortunate enough to land Rainbows with 4 different techniques - nymphing, dry-dropper, dry fly, and streamers. It was the kinda day you dream up.

    Please keep making these videos they are top quality and I know I caught more fish this year because of some of your tips. The streamer with the pine squirrel is my best performer this year.

    Love your enthusiasm man 👍 Great job working that water and landing all solid fish ! It’s only a plus when prepared to switch it up and try different techniques! I myself always carry a dry , nymphing and streamer rod in my car , always ready to change things up ! Love the video and the scenery is spectacular!! Tight lines!

      Thanks for the kind words! I always have those rigs ready to go also but it's a tougher choice when hiking a good distance from the car... I'm still trying to tweak things to get it even better. Thanks for watching :)

    congrats on your action packed day. Great catches. Thanks for sharing. I also carry extra reels with different setups so only have to use one rod.

      Thanks! Carrying two reels is a lot easier vs two rods that's for sure.

    Wow, that river is loaded with some fatties. It seems early in the season to be fishing chubbies (at least it is here in CO). Unless there has been a salmonfly hatch. I have a standard DT line on my reel and switch between a 20 ft euroleader and a regular leader as the situation calls for. This way I don't have to switch reels. Had to take some of the backing off to make it fit, but it has been working great. I keep the leader(s) I am not using on foam spools so they are ready to go. Great video!

    Thanks for posting. I’m new to Euro nymphing and your channel. Just curious what river you are on or even what state you are in. Also did you switch reals at all or do all four techniques with the same reel. Last could you talk a little more about how to do each technique (like this type of water is best with this technique) and your rigging. As fun as it is to watch someone catch fish, I’d like also to learn good technique to have success myself. Lately when I’m nymphing, I catch way more white fish than trout. Is this a regional thing or maybe I just need to modify where I’m fishing? Thanks again.

    503 subs at this time. That's a good number. haha. I did the same thing over the weekend, used a WF line and another reel with my euro setup on my 3wt Clearwater. It was great. I am kind of bummed I replaced my 9' 5wt recently and not using that money on just upgrading my 10' 3wt as I use that the most it seems.

    • @FlyingTies
      @FlyingTies  3 роки тому +1

      Yeah, everyone needs to find the right combo that fits for them. I haven’t used my 9’ 5wt in a long time as I’ve found different tools for specific ways of fishing that do things just a bit better. But that’s not the right answer for everyone. Thanks for watching!

    Great video I really appreciate your lessons ( really enjoyed the "fishing the Mop" I'm definitely going to try some out). For your on the river videos, I was wondering if you use one or two GoPros . I received a GoPro from my wife for Christmas but I really don't know how to use it for my fishing trips. Any suggestions would really be appreciated ! Pls keep up the good work!

      Thanks! I use one GoPro mostly, sometimes I use my phone as an extra camera too. Grab a chest mount and hit record 👍🏻

    This sort of looks dry enough to be the Deschutes, but not as many junipers. Also, I don’t recognize any places.

    Hey great video! Curious as to what net you use. Had a big rainbow cut through mine the other day somehow so I am looking for upgrade. Didn't see it in your affiliate links. Thanks!

      It’s something I picked up from tactical fly fisher this last year but it looks to be out of stock and not listed any longer… it was an European import. But the Frabill nets are pretty good for how cheap they are. Hope that helps and thanks for watching

    I didn't catch whether or not you switched out spools, or if you fished on the euro nymphing spool all day, and just changed up the flies.

    • @FlyingTies
      @FlyingTies  3 роки тому

      You are right! I switched to the DT2 about halfway through the day to swing some streamers and went back to the euro line to end the day. Hope that helps!

    Hello, in the beginning of the video it looks like you are using euro level line? I use it too and prefer that feel on my hands, so are you using a short leader? thanks

    • @FlyingTies
      @FlyingTies  3 роки тому

      I do use a euro level line when fishing this specific technique and my typical euro leader is 15' long not counting the tippet material. Hope this helps

  • @thelipslayer8312
    @thelipslayer8312 2 роки тому

    Does your euro line come off your reel

    • @FlyingTies
      @FlyingTies  2 роки тому

      Yes it does. I follow comp rules when it comes to my leader setup. It's a 14' leader so my line is always off my reel

    What rod do you favor and why?

    • @FlyingTies
      @FlyingTies  3 роки тому

      I have a lot of different favorite rods for different techniques but for euro nymphing it would be the Sage ESN 10’6” 3wt.

    • @FlyingTies
      @FlyingTies  3 роки тому

      Ha yeah, if you are switching lines to go dry dropper vs just switching on the same line it take a few min longer
