I went in 1984 aged 11 as a tourist. We stayed in a town called Calella. Had a day trip to Barcelona, I seem to recall everything being very tall and high. And the fact that kids play out on the streets till past 11pm. That stunned me!! This was lovely to watch. So glad you’re enjoying your time there, I do love your vlogs and the lightness that seems to have come to you now you own your old channel The Way Away, without any ties. That’s where I found you first. It’s wonderful to witness. 💖
We loved Barcelona, and especially enjoyed walking around The Gothic Quarter. We have never taken any of the free walking tours in the many cities we have visited in Europe. I think it's about time we started. Looks like a great way to get more information about an area, before heading out on your own. Have a great week Ash. - Coreen
Very interesting fact about the Olympics. A lot of cities that hold them don't use the facilities after the games were over. Nice to hear that Barcelona does
Most western European cities use the facilities afterwards, even the Olympic village becomes local authority housing, the venues used by the relevant National sports associations or football clubs if stadiums or is it stadia. Latin never a strong point. Octopuses or Octopi?
So jealous. Barcelona is my favorite city. Great food, great architecture, great people. Barcelona is continuously trying to find a balance btwn the tourists and the locals, specifically in the Gothic Quarter. Can't wait for you to experience the Christmas season there!
Hi Ashley! I can't wait to see you on the new video. Barcelona is a city in Spain that is famous for its outstanding football team, stunning architecture, lively nightlife, sandy beaches, and world-class cuisine.
So fun! I love learning about the places I travel to. The history, the people, the food, the culture--all of it haha! Thank you for sharing your tour with us
I took Spanish in high school and university (just elective courses) and loved it! I dream of visiting Spain and laughing at how rusty my unused language skills are now after over a decade of only speaking drunken spanglish at all inclusive resorts in the Caribbean 🤪 🇨🇦
Oh my gosh haha I have heard Spanish gets better after a few drinks! You should for sure visit but be prepared to fall in love and never want to leave haha Not with me or anyone else but with the city. Just wanna clarify. I don't want any miss understandings lol
What a great tour and great tips that you shared. We loved the balconies with plants on too and glad you water at night 🤣🤣 good luck with learning Spanish 😊❤️
Lovely video Ashley. Great to see apart of where you are currently living , learning some Spanish history on the way 😜 Is it still very warm your way ? Your Lunch looked so tasty 🥰 Have a Good week 🥰
Hello Ash! I would be in Barcelona this September 14 to 21, would love to do a collab with you and talk about how saving, spending and budgeting is there in Spain! Hoping to hear from you!
hermoso video Ashley! Excellent filming (loved the angles) and editing. I think you would make a wonderful tour guide one day. gracias por llevarnos en el recorrido. ~Cara 💖
Don’t wait to take a tour in Spanish, especially if it’s free(sort of). I lived in Florence for a few months learning Italian and took several tours with the language school, all in Italian. It will help you learn the subtleties of the language you won’t get in a class settings.
We love Barcelona and the Gothic Quarter in particular! Will be back there in October and really looking forward to it. So many small bars & eateries and it really comes alive in the evening. I love the Manchester Bar, a small bar really tucked away, where they play music from bands from Manchester, UK in the main. It may not be your 'cup of tea' though Ash !
Ahhh so lovely Ash! Like I was there with you! Thank you so much! Yeah, the ad on the church, kinda tacky isn't it? I remember the Barcelona Olympics, watched alot of it being a big fan of the games both summer and winter. Hey ...there is this cathedral there, I think it's called Sagrada Familia? Construction on it began sometime in the 1880's I believe? And it STILL isn't finished! ( I am not consulting Wiki or anything so am relying on the old noggin for this LOL) I've seen images of the exterior and it is beyond STUNNING. Maybe you can check it out sometime!!
I have a Gothic Quarter tour booked with Sandeman 3 weeks from today! Can't wait. How much is a typical tip for the guide? I was thinking 20 euros but not sure. Thanks!
If you see the letter x, it’s Catalan as that letter isn’t used in Spanish (I could have that the wrong way around as I’m not fluent in either but used to live in Catalonia).
The letter x is used in spanish for example anexo ,sexo, sexto, mixto, axioma, etc etc in catalan there are other letters that don't exist in spanish for example ç , and in catalan don't exist the letter ñ.
Wonderful video, Ashley! We've been going to Barcelona since 1977, to track the progress of the Sagrada Familia Cathedral. We were last there in 2018 and want to go back when it's finished--2026??????
I visited Sagrada Familia in 2021. They were hoping to finish in 2026 (100 yrs after Gaudi's death), but the pandemic has pushed them back roughly 2yrs according to my guide at the time... 🤷♀️
Hey Ash Fan since Sofia could Not even pee. One fun facto Barcelona, Paris and Oldenburg Germany have one together the Size of around 100 square km. Oldenburg only have 168 000 people also 10 x less
How about getting some pizza once in awhile wanna see what the pizza is like there🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣...Just teasing ya...I do love some Pizza😆.Had some Hungry Howie's the other day and it was just blah....lol,...Those empanadas did look very yummy though.
At this point YES. I love it so much. I walk around thinking…look at all these tourists in vacation here and I get to live here! WHAT!! How did I get so lucky!?!? I do question if it’s a honeymoon stage so I guess time will tell.

YES!! You must! I’m a HUGE advocate. 😁
We started it in London and we were hooked. Free walking tours are great! Did one in Barcelona as well. I miss Barcelona can’t wait to come back.
Very interesting fact about the Olympics. A lot of cities that hold them don't use the facilities after the games were over. Nice to hear that Barcelona does
The Olympic games changed this city. I love that they took advantage of the international stage and came out on top!
Most western European cities use the facilities afterwards, even the Olympic village becomes local authority housing, the venues used by the relevant National sports associations or football clubs if stadiums or is it stadia. Latin never a strong point. Octopuses or Octopi?

La parte más clara de la catedral no és que sea más nueva, sino que se restauró hace unos 14 años.....
I would really enjoy a double handed girls aloud Barcelona gig with Christianne of backpacking bananas channel.

Be careful with pickpockets my dear. The city is notorious for that in Europe.

Don’t be surprised about billboards on the church. This is the Catholic Church after all, very greedy
Awe interesting perspective.
Thats not the worse of the catholic church, but what we all already know.......in the US too 😭
You choose the wrong city to learn Spanish....
haha true but to live here I am so happy.
Well, spanish is wide open spoken also, so no problem
Better Barcelona than in Sevilla or Granada hehe because there you learn the andaluz instead spanish.
👎🏻
”Sharing Barcelona”?

Great, she's so pretty!
Mir haben die VLogs mit deiner Ex-Frau besser gefallen.
How is the noise at night? Are you sleeping through it? 🥱
