I currently work on the flight-line in the US Air Force I've been thinking about getting this license as I don't want to do 20 years. Obviously the pay is better civil sector so I really appreciate this video

32 year retired major airline A&P here. I took several A&P classes during my time in the Navy. They used to bring examiners on base every now and then to give tests. Unfortunately I seemed to always be on DET when they were there. Finished up my tests the month after I separated, then went to work for a defense contractor no A&P required. After that I went on another contract where it was required. Have also worked commuter/regional, air freight, and major US airlines. The regional carriers do not pay as well as the major US airlines & air freight airlines. Be prepared to work many years of third shift at the airlines. You will frequently experience exhaustion & fatigue. You will also work many years of weekends , holidays, and if you are married you will miss many family functions. It's also a dangerous business, and I have seen people killed and be maimed for life. It's nice to have airline flight benefits but you don't always get where you want to go when you want to go. That's the plus to having Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday off. We always called them the premium non rev days, flights are not as crowded and you can usually get on. There are also some other good travel benefits available at the airlines. FLY NAVY!!!
