The Department of Jazz and Contemporary Improvisation at University of Michigan's School of Music, Theatre & Dance celebrated the milestone of its 25th anniversary from November 30-December 7 2012. This 25th Anniversary celebration featured a series of performances, workshops, and panel discussions in commemoration of the history of the department. Widely acclaimed for its innovative bridging of mainstream jazz with explorations of the broader improvised music spectrum, the department will welcome back alumni, many of whom have launched highly successful careers in the field, to perform with current students and faculty and share thoughts about the impact of their experience at Michigan on their development. Past and present faculty and administrators will also take part in the celebration, and reflect on the significance of Jazz and Contemporary Improvisation at the University and in the field at large.
Audio & video recording by Dave Schall.
