    Oh Karen. You have dealt with this in such a dignified manner. I totally get it. You have spent a lot of money on something that you feel like you didn't receive. I don't think you'd feel as short changed if you had been treated with the respect you deserve.
    I know you are disappointed and understandably so but you look absolutely lovely and you have such a fizzy, fun and lighthearted personality despite your condition which must be wearing at times.
    I think you are doing the right thing in complaining. Some surgeons really do have a God like complex and never expect to be challenged. He didn't cure your hooded eyes and you have accepted that but he has left you with something that is making you even more self conscious. That needs to be taken way more seriously. He should be finding out what that is and working on a solution not cracking jokes and labelling it with a nickname.
    Sending you lots of love. Keep us updated and I hope you get at least a partial refund to pay for the Botox. X

    just a note- I’m not seeking compensation specifically from Spire Healthcare, I’m not even going to ask for it but I AM going to complain about how he dealt with the medical issue of my right eye droop. I made a comment in the video saying the only way I could afford a brow lift would be if I got compensation which I simply meant if it was offered which is unlikely! I DO think it would have been a “gesture” to offer a partial refund to cover the Botox that will be required to allow me to take photos as I could before the video BUT I don’t think this is something I’m due. I’m not sad or angry at all, quite the opposite - I’m blessed to have had the opportunity to have the surgery & think after the Botox I’ll love it but even if I don’t it’s ok cause there are so many other more pressing issues in my life, how my eyes look is of very low importance. These videos are so detailed because I want to help other people to have all the information & know the risks. X

    I am so sorry that you've had this experience. Personally, I don't think your surgeon has anything to be cocky about. I think he did nick something when he was working on your right eye and I would definitely pursue that with as many doctors as it takes because you have no idea what the long-term effects might be. When I had my blepharoplasty, at the same time I had what they called a mini brow lift. I had about an inch-long incision just above the temple and behind the hairline on each side. I believe when one goes in for an elective surgery and tells the surgeon what their expectations are, the surgeon has an obligation to tell the patient what the limitations are. Plain and simple. I have never been a litigious person, but in your case, I would probably seek legal advice also.

    Hi dear, I’ve just undergone a blepharoplasty and I’ve researched a lot regarding this area of surgery. Have a look at sub-brow lift. It basically lifts and excise your skin just right below your eyebrow instead of lifting your eyebrows (to avoid the surprised look). Not sure how much more invasive surgery your eyes can go through after your procedure. But we have this in Asia and it might be worth it to study what options you got now. I wish for the best outcome and that you’ll manage to find a safe way to get your optimal results. Best regards from Thailand

    Dear Karen, I had the same experience. Before surgery I had a natural very strong overreaction of the frontalis muscle that lifted the eyebrow. After the surgery, the compensation of the frontalis decreased and the eyebrow dropped. The eyes look actually more hooded than before. The only positive thing from the surgery is that now my deep and numerous wrinkles above the eyebrows, caused by the contraction of the frontalis, are smoother. I don’t know what correction I can do. Botox would wrinkle my forehead above the eyebrow. I will discuss with my surgeon on Monday. He also never mentioned the possibility of brow compensation and in my case was obvious given the deep wrinkles above my eyebrow before surgery.

    Sadly, there are never any guarantees regarding any form of plastic surgery. We all rush in hoping for an optimal outcome
    yet we are left having to deal with the consequent results. We then have to find a competent surgeon that we entrust to revise the issues left by the primary surgeon. Who already have the excuse that they a revising some other surgeons work, which has resulted in excessive scar tissue. This will compromise the cosmetic outcome. Personally, if you can live with the result you have already, I would. Sadly I am a victim of this cycle of revision surgery with the result of diminished cosmetic outcomes.

    I just had a second revision on my left eye. I had blethloplasty on both eyes 3 Years ago. I really only wanted an eye fold on left eye done but he recommended both eyes so they look even. So I had both done and still had the left eye fold. So I think it was about 6-7 months after and a second revision was done on left eye fold and it still there. It’s been three years and I just had the third one done on left eye fold again. The incision wasn’t near as big and I get stitches out Thursday. I even tried Botox before this 3rd revision and it didn’t work. However , my left eye protrudes a little more then the right ( always has ) and my rt eyebrow was always just slightly higher then the left. So it’s just my left side is drooping I guess. I hope this third one works. I don’t think I can do it agsin and I don’t want to get an eyebrow lift and the Botox didn’t work. So I’m praying third time is the charm. Also , in this video you look fantastic. I can only hope the corner of my eyes look like yours ! We are hardest on ourselves tho . I was told that when we look closely in mirror everthing is magnified. But your eyes and eyebrows in this video look really nice

He was the least arrogant man I know and he was very loved by the whole community. It’s a shame that a few bad doctors give the whole lot a bad name. It must be a new thing.

    For those of us not in Great Britain can you clarify when you talk about medical treatment centers or what seem to be different than hospitals? I don't get where you went to have the eye surgery or what you were referring to about insurance, was it? I would be upset too if I didn't get what I expected from the surgery and I know it won't help any if I said you do look great. I certainly would go after getting a refund. Would that be something you would do in the courts in the form of suing the doctor?

    • @TheBeautyMaverick
      @TheBeautyMaverick  5 років тому

      I don't recall talking about insurance or medical treatment centre lol. In the UK we have the NHS Hospitals and then there are private hospitals. For those with either a lot of money, or with high paid jobs, they can get treatment in a private hospital. That means they get seen quicker and the treatment is much better. An example would be that I had knee pain & saw my GP who referred me to a surgeon. I waited 4 months to see a surgeon on the NHS who told me there was nothing I could do. I went back to my GP and asked to be referred to a private hospital and I would pay. I got an appointment that time in 2 weeks at the private hospital, with the very same surgeon (they often do some time with NHS and some time private) and he told me he could operate. With cosmetic surgery, you can pretty much only get it done privately other than in extreme cases so I needed to pay for the surgery myself. My choices were to go to a cosmetic company that does plastic surgery or to go to a medical hospital that does plastic surgery. I chose medical thinking that would be best. However, I'm not seeking a refund or compensation, that was my fault for miscommunication in the video - I said "the only way I could afford a brow lift was if I got compensation" which has made people think that's what I'm looking for, but I'm not. I'm making a complaint about the way the surgeon dealt with my medical complaint about my droopy eye, but I'm NOT asking for compensation or refund. I DO think it would be a gesture of good will to offer but I think its highly unlikely that will happen. I certainly won't be going to court or suing any doctor! I think he did a great job of the Blepharoplasty, its not his fault I had brow compensation and that was confirmed by a 2nd opinion by another company and since by a 3rd specialist (i will talk about in next video). The only maltreatment is not giving me reassurance regarding my eye droop and offering to investigate and as I say, really good customer service would have been to offer a partial refund to cover the cost of Botox to preven the eye droop whilst they investigated the cause. Hope that helps explain. x

    Adding to what Fiona Midgley wrote, I was really on board with your frustration with surgeons. I live in Canada so it's not a cultural thing. My mom had brain cancer and post -op this appalling man walked into the ICU where visitors were not allowed at 9 am and told her he had done a brilliant job and she had 3 months to live. My sister and I ganged up on him and terrified the life out of him; we had every reason to be outraged and he was disciplined by the medical board in my country. I am contemplating Blepharoplasty but with your help and caveats and generously sharing your experience, I will be extra cautious. Thanks so much for your video, you were so candid, like a friend. Best best wishes.

    I think he nicked a nerve...nerves do regenerate. A neurologist may be able to give you better advice. Doctors are the cockiest people on the planet and I find most are not nearly as good as they think. I find women doctors to be more balanced in their approach and willing to explain complications… So I have switched to women doctors when possible and have enjoyed medical the experience much more than going to men.

    This is the issue with plastic surgery, Ive had a few things (surgery) done and each time I have been disappointed, I feel that the surgeons are happy if you praise them but as soon as you complain they can turn unpleasant and don't even listen. I had a breast lift and implants done on the NHS which was ok but not 100% and I also had my ears pinned back on the NHS but I am not sure whether it is the NHS surgeons? Although they did work privately too. The only thing I have been happy with is fat transfer which I had in sept after having an unpleasant experience with filler where I had to argue and say it was still there as I could feel it! The dr dissolved it whilst saying it wasn't there but as soon as the area deflated I could see in his face he knew he was wrong not that he admitted that! I have slight loose skin above my eyes but the DR im now seeing does not really like doing blepharoplasty now he fills the area with fat. He says so many people have had fat removed from the upper eye lid making it look hollow which ages the face. If you look at a youthful face you only see a tiny portion of the lid. I'm having fat put under the eye brow too and temples as this raises the area also. I think maybe this surgeon is just very good he's in Harley street and I know competition there is high and only the best survive. I hope you get some kind of compensation. You can always ask for the paperwork you signed for your 'records' and check that the eyebrow compensation is actually there but also I would say that this wasn't properly discussed with you anyway. regardless whether you still would have gone ahead you should of had it explained to you at the very least and that is a failing on there part. With every op I have had the NHS has gone into great length to tell me all the complications with the- this happens to 1 in every 1000,0000 ETC. I think you were not given the time to ask to read the document either and you should never be rushed into signing or reading any document.

I have been using Eva Fraser facial yoga for years though, I just don't do it often enough, I bought her very first book :0) I don't mean to sound know it all, but I don't feel like I need to email anyone about botox - I was the person that approved Botox studies (some on children!) when I worked in the hospital and I had botox for 8 years for my hooded eyes - I feel like I'm experienced enough and knowledgeable enough to know that it will work for me if done in the right areas. Yoga can work on certain areas to an extent but not strong enough to create the amount of lift I need in my opinion and especially not unless I was dedicated enough or remembered enough to do it daily. xx
