    Your cart is the same as mine. I would like to see you do a video on the wiring to see where everything goes. Thanks

    You got a short in one of your wires all you got a bad speed controller 90% of the time it's a wire that has been overlooked the other part of the time is the speed controller

    Why not take the controler off your cart and swap it for this one, and see if it fixes it? It seems to be the obvious test to try.

    Can you do a video covering all the wiring? What gose where? I have the exact same cart and can not find the info I need to get it wired back up. There is a green wire coming from one side of the key switch it gose to the forward/reverse switch but there's a red wire coming from the other side of key switch I have no clue where it goes. If you could make a video covering all the connections it wold be a tremendous help!

    My solenoid does not click yet I tested the solenoid and it does work. Almost seems like there is no power getting to the solenoid.

    the problem with mine is that when you step on the pedal normally it doesn't run, you have to press veeery slowly then it starts to move

    My cart takes off on reverse without pressing the accelerator. Forward works properly. Think the controller is causing that problem?

    • @justtinkering6054
      @justtinkering6054  2 роки тому

      Check your forward neutral reverse switch. Then check pedal linkage. Then check potentiometer. If it’s none of these, it could be the controller. My money would be on the forward neutral reverse switch though. Good luck. Diagnosing the problem seems to always be the hardest part of most repairs.

    Glad your fix worked! I have a really old EZ-Go...1982 model...having issues...I don't believe it has a speed controller though...has a Coil...the cart has a factory dash sign saying to floor the accelerator...don't partially press or the coil will heat up. The first summer I had it - I was tooling around kind of slow "ish" and smelled something burning...it was the underside of the seat (wood) - the coil was almost yellow hot!!!!! Uffda! Now I try and run it flat out - in short bursts. I use mine like your folks do - help on the farm...I'm in my 70's and it helps a lot with chores. But now its not wanting to run...sorta acts like it will just creep a foot or two then quit. I've checked everything as far as the batteries, the cables and wires...suspect the coil or the solenoid - no pentiometer on this either. Will just keep searching and seeing if a solution presents itself.

    How fast do you think it was going? I have an 88 marathon that can’t seem to break 10 mph. Trying to get some additional speed and wondering if the controller is just getting old.

    • @justtinkering6054
      @justtinkering6054  3 роки тому

      I don’t know how fast it was going when it would act up, but it was considerably slower than it’s normal speed. Full speed wasn’t slow all the time. It varied.

    Do you have a link for that controller? I have the same cart. Mine has a bad controller or a motor. Test at the motor when pedal is pressed motors receiving only 30 volts on every Pole but motor does not move or voltage change by pedal. With the pedal pressed down at any rate and moving the forward and reverse switch back and forth it will sometimes engage motor but only at full speed.

    Went ahead and ordered the same controller, about $150. Ours was intermittent then became unusable. Replaced FNR, solenoid, charging ports. Kinda don’t mind throwing parts cannon at it cause they’re such old parts they’re going to fail sooner than later. The controller I got claims to have a 3 year warranty, that would be cool.

    • @ericstyer2890
      @ericstyer2890 2 роки тому

      Well we replaced ours as well. Seems to have been the issue. Paid $160 for a new one with a 3 year warranty (so they claim) and clocked it at 16mph on slight downhill where before 14mph had been fastest recorded speed on flat pavement. It’s funny because in the process of replacing it I found an actual schematic from Cartaholics and found the varistor was on the wrong terminals. It was a college university utility cart prior to our buying it which was good because they used state subsidized $ to replace all the batteries just before replacing the entire cart. Has 6 NAPA golf cart 6vdc batteries that I hope will last another 4 years or more. They’re a 12/18 battery batch.

    hi i have a question for anyone.. i have a 36v G2 yamaha.. when i put it in forward it goes ,, on its own same with reverse.. no need to press the paddle?? also i put in a new key ignition and i can not figure the wiring to kill it so it can’t be used.. i found the diagram but makes no sense.. thanks

    • @carl-krauss
      @carl-krauss Рік тому

      My guess is it's has to do with your throttle potentiometer. If you have one of the these controllers he showed in the video sometimes they are configured for 5k-0 ohm instead of 0-5k ohm. If programmed for the incorrect one it'll start going at full speed thinking that the pedal is fully pressed down.

    • @erimachado6511
      @erimachado6511 Рік тому

      I have a 1998 Yamaha G14, I check the potentiometer, it's different, you have to put a 0.5k ohm one. I also have to check the forward and backward button. I think I'll have to replace it in the end. This cart was given to me as a gift. in florida I am changing everything I am also deciphering the diagram for this controller

      To fix, check ohms (set your meter to Ohms 20k) between the black and white (sometimes its red) wire that goes from the potentiometer (pot) to the speed controller, you should have a reading of 0 when the pedal is not pressed. You can disconnect the wires to do this to make it easier. You should have 5.0 at least when the pedal is on the floor. My guess is your pot needs adjustment. It is probably providing ohms when the pedal is not depressed. Easy fix. If so, loosen the screw that holds the arm on the pot to it's shaft. Then turn the screw head of the shaft until you get a reading of 0. Then tighten the screw that holds the arm on to the shaft. Test that you get 0 when the pedal is not pressed and at least 5.0 when the pedal is the floor. This should solve your problem.

      @@MrPlasticdinosaur484 Good luck. I had a similar problem with my cart. Cart wanted to go when pedal wasn't depressed, then when depressed more than half way the cart would die. It fixed my issue. Also the reason the cart would die when the pedal was depressed more than half way was because the controller was getting an over voltage and would shut down. Turns out the cheap potentiometer wasn't adjusted right from the factory but also if the screw isn't tight the arm could just slip over time.
