- Devo 2.0 (also known as DEV2.O) was a quintet, created for Walt Disney Records (with the participation of Devo), of child actors who sing, dance, and (in their music videos and photo shoots) mime playing instruments along to songs re-recorded by some of the original members of Devo. Jerry Casale directed all nine of the videos. Actress Jacqueline Emerson, who later appeared in The Hunger Games, was a member. The band split up in 2007 when lead singer Nicole Stoehr and lead guitarist Nathan Norman quit after their album was a flop.
i always found the lead singer had a TON of charisma. would have been brilliant to see her have a career as a singer
When I first heard this several years ago I really hated it. And here I am now...just a few years older...and I appreciate it. Whoever got these kids together to teach them how to play some badass punkish new wave tunes, kudos. They actually did a great job of not butchering it.
It was actually Gerry and Bob Casale who casted, rehearsed and recorded the kids. Their 2006 interview on the project is absolutely hilarious, highly recommend watching that on youtube.
@@Gyrbae The clip I saw doesn't really go into how the idea came about in the first place. Was it the original intent to create a Devo-themed Disney pop act or did Casale want it to be a parody of same? It seems like he only realised the parody aspect after the Disney executives demanded some lyrical changes.
The singer is killing it
He picked the one, he licked the other, he went in circles and he dropped dead😂😂😂 this is fucking awesome
Yes Disney, whatever, we know that Freedom FROM choice
Is what you want
I was thought it was kick ass when these came on
The word "from" is the whole point of the song.
@@pyrmontbridge4737 At least this is intentional. I wanna punch all the hard-core ninnies and twits who sincerely cover the song and are completely oblivious to that fact!
Devo was always borderline kids music, that's their eternal magic
And Booji Boy was the eternal toddler. The "Spring of perpetual youth" wasn't quite what he expected..
Even if you refuse to choose, you are still making a choice. Use your freedom choice.

Que tal recuerdazo 45 años atras, todo un gran HIT en las radios y emisoras de TARAPOTO-PERU.
She has beautiful long arms,wow
best thing ive seen all day
Another of THEE BEST DEVO Covers EVER
Totally awesome kids! Well done. It would be a crime for kids nowadays not to be able to jam to this the way we did.
Damn. This shit is tight AF just like Devo. So fucking good. Nailed it!
It's DEVO playing all the instruments!
Good job, kiddos👍
Excellent keep going
Wow! Awesome. Loved it!
It's like the lyrics in the Devo 2.0 version are *pointedly* bowdlerized. It's not like "Freedom from choice
Is what you want" is too dirty for kids. I guess they were thinking that a little irony leads to the harder stuff.
yeah wouldnt want a human to grow up into a homo sapiens sapiens
The Mouse has no genitals. Says it all.
It's worse than being dirty, it's encouraging pinko communism. ;)
I like this one better than the Original one. Im aware that DEVO produced Dev2.0 but the talent shines through all that. Great stuff!
Idk know that
thats pretty awesome
these peoples are definately goin places. A good future in fron of them. I wonder if they ever got to meeet uo with Devo?
Devo is for the children
what!!!!! Devo, great band!!!
If you don't understand them then you're still a child.
I watched this with a fellow Devo fan when it came out in 2006. We were trying to figure out if pandas with sombreros was Devo making some sort of sly reference to Chinese-Mexican trade agreements... but of course it was just nonsense graphics to fill the screens, lol.
Get a life
What's good about this album- 1) the production is better than with the original DEVO versions. The band sounds better 2) on some tracks, like "That's Good," Nicole sang it better than Mark did.
I wouldn't take it that far, but the kids did a fine job indeed.
Agree!!
Holy Batman! These kids are awesome! Well done^2
I love the cats on the screen .cool song too .
Amazing! Great.
That’s awesome
Why did they change the meaning of this song? No mention of "Freedom From Choice is What You Want"?
Really important point - probably the seminal lyric in the song. Let's just hope they were using their freedom of choice to change the original rather than the disappointing possibility that they didn't notice the one word change in lyric at the end.
Pretty cool!
GORGEOUS VOCALS AND HOW THEY MOVE, BET THEY ALL LOOK GREAT NOW AS ADULTS AND STILL SING !
There’s a video of Nicole from 2014
Easy with that caps lock, son.

LOVE IT
I think this is BRILLIANT! Great cover of a most excellent song!
They are just pretending to play the instruments. The keyboard solo would be played with one hand in real life.
Sombrero Panda ....sez....Libertad de eleccion
this is peak consumerism
This is devo as hell
Uber cool !
They're a great cover band
Do you have all 9 videos?
Para ser un cover muy bueno
great.
Why does she say "Freedom of choice,is what you got,Freedom of choice,is what you want"?
As opposed to "Freedom of choice / Is what you got / Freedom *from* choice / Is what you want"? Probably because Disney wasn't willing for Dev2.0 to be quite as cynical.
And the dog dropped down 😅
ah the Slippery Slope
i wish them all the best
Crash This Party
your generation will live forever
I like that you tried
Did they ever release a CD?.
mini SPUDS
👍👍👍
Wait...this isn't ~that~ bad.
Probably because DEVO recorded the instruments.
I could only wish I was even one tenth as cool as these kids at that age. Once in a lifetime event- they'll look back on this for the rest of their lives- they got to do DEVO sanctioned covers and videos!
Yeah, if they weren't under Disney and could actually have some edge, I could've seen this as a great opening act for the band, as part of Devo's "Child indoctrination program."
Anyone else notice the dice on top of the cymbals?
There was 420 likes when I got here. I had to ruin it. 421.
I guess a little lyric tinkering was involved
This was my favorite Devo song back in the day. This version, not so much.
did Devo sell their souls so disney could rewrite the lyrics of their songs? cmon man!
Tater Tots
Lots of humorless, stuck up Devo fans in the comments 🙄
There's no humour in the kids' version.
What ?
What ?
What ?
She is so cute,i love her long beautiful arms, she really knows how to use her arms, that's so hot
If you got it and you don’t want use your freedom of choice…abortion?
The forgot the cone hats
How embarrassing
Nice Try!
