I died in the library so much as a kid I basically memorize every spawn point of the flood... especially the rocket flood.

I don't mind the new graphics, I just prefer the original ones. My problem with New Graphics is that some of the geometry is messed up. They did a way better job with Halo 2 anniversary. Besides that, it's still Halo CE. Not a big deal.
Yep...grenades bouncing off invisible wall architecture or bullets not passing through what looks like gaps in rock geometry. They should have kept the object and world polygon geometry identical between classic and anniversary and just updated the textures and lighting.

I can understand the complaints that people have with the remade graphics. The original graphics gave the game a gritty, dirty, and rusty look to the equipment and environments, which also helped the game's overall tone and atmosphere. But at the same time, the new graphics do breath new life into the game and make it look great to look at. Personally, I can play with either or. I like them both the same.
My stresm mate played Halo CE with me for the first time. Having him react to the Flood for the first time was fantastic!! He never had it spoiled and never knew what they were. It was pure bliss.
I'm played Halo: Reach on legendary just to get the achievements, and god that was a chore. The only issue with Reach I ever had was a audio crackle. They are still working on it.
I've played Halo: CE dozen's of times at this point, and I haven't noticed any issues. I did have one thing where my computer would lag ever so slightly with CE graphics, compaired to CEA graphics. That I thought was odd.
I've never played Halo because my family never was a Xbox family it was Playstation. So I missed out on some childhood memories regarding this game. So the fact these games are being released to PC is a treat for me.

Combat evolved anniversary was my first halo game. I remember when I did the tutorial, I had to play the rest of the game with the y axis inverted. I beat it, but I got so used to aiming down to look up that it would take me some time to adjust to multiplayer competitive with my brother
My friend and I absolutely loved our first playthrough, and we're already replaying Reach and CE with mods, Freedom mod for Reach which is loopy as hell, tonnes of wierd shit added like drivable animals with turrets and such. And Ruby's Rebalanced for CE which is a lot of fun, the gun rebalances I like a lot.
My only 2 complains about the anniversary graphics (from Halo 1 and Halo 2) are
-is kinda hard to see if the armor of an elite is depleted
-sometimes i was shotting to a wall but in the Anniversary graphics that wall seems clear (idk how to sya it better since english isnt my language :p)

My only problem with the Anniversary graphics is that the model geometry doesn't always match up with the base game, which has caused me to blow myself up with rockets by accident more times than I'd like, and I've missed crucial shots with the sniper rifle on T&R because I thought I had a clear shot when I didn't, or I died because I hid behind a boulder or pillar that looked big in Anniversary, but was much smaller in OG graphics, and so I was still able to be hit by enemy fire.
I love the new graphics but sometimes I like to have a nostalgia trip and use the old graphics, so 9 times out of 10 I'll use the anniversary graphics.
Love hearing you talk about this franchise. I'm a PC gamer, but I also have fond memories playing Halo on every platform:
Xbox and PC for OG halo (PC version had the flamethrower)
Xbox 360, Xbone and soon PC for Halo Anniversary.
The flood was so well hidden I remember as a kid they weren't even in the manual that came with the disk (where they had every other enemy listed).
I remember the game manual on the Xbox version saying that the pistol shot explosive rounds: hence the power.
My issue with the new graphics is that they don't change the hit-boxes of map geometry and enemies so sometimes you will shot at something only for the bullet to hit that part of a tree that can only be seen in the classic graphics why they didn't try to match the new graphics with the old hit-boxes is beyond me.
Thank goodness, someone who likes the Anniversary graphics as much as I do. I feel like I shouldn't like the new graphics because so many people tell me not to. Finally I am at peace
I love the new graphics as well but I normally play on legacy graphics. Not because I think that the new graphics ruin the art style, which they don't and they are a welcome addition and look gorgeous, but because it gives me nostalgia to play on older graphics.
But lately I've been playing on the new graphics and feels different in a good way.

You can buy it as a standalone but the MCC is used to launch it
each halo game is about $10 each on steam besides ODST which will be $5 If I remember correctly. buying each game standalone will cost you $45 and buying the whole MCC package is $40

Is it weird I don't mind the library?
One bug i had when playing was not being able to switch gun/zoom in/pick up guns because i had a pending windows update....i know...weird but i updated my windows and it played perfectly

thing I dislike about the newer halo graphics is the grunts having different shell things I miss seeing a bunch of walking Doritos
outside of 343 guilty spark, I don't really have much of an issue with the new graphics.
That graphical comparison snapped me out of "old graphics better than new ones" because you're absolutely right, i did find myself filling in the gaps and now i feel ashamed lmao
The 1 only thing with the remastered graphics that I am not a fan of is the graphical overlays on top of the original map. They place detailed textures over top of the original ones, but leave a space between them, that guns or equipment can get stuck under and not allow you to see or sometimes grab it.
Halo CEA was my first M for mature game. All I had to do was take out the trash.
Man I will never get board of this game no matter how much I played this game.
I remember playing this on the original xbox with my brother and oohhh when you brought up the Library, well, we all knew it was the worst. Even all those years ago.
And then during Halo 2 towards the end of the Sacred Icon mission, we go into the Library to retrieve the Icon, and oh boy the layout is just so PTSD-inducing.
When i first played halo 1 in that level flood i was so scared that i didn't play that level for a week

How Do I effectively use the pistol? I've heard of it's legendary kill rate, but I can't seem to use it right. Is it only op in the multiplayer, or in the single player campaign too?
11 months late but it all comes down to learning how to hit headshots consistently. It's like riding a bike. Once you learn it'll stick in your hand eye coordination forever.

The OG Xbox has one for both CE and 2! Works on OG and 360, split screen for the entire story. But it only works on the original games and it can be a bit difficult to set it up on the original system, at least for Halo 2
Halo 1 is the best halo multiplayer. If you are near viriginia we still organize large halo 1 lans! Last one i think was almost 50 people

Three Cats Just use the plasma pistol to get an elites shields down and tap them in the head with the human pistol
My only real complaint about the port is the awful low frame rate in the cutscenes. Other than that it looks well and is a pretty good port
The only thing I don't like about the new graphics is the way elites look. And I don't want to seem like I'm an asshole it's just that the og design looks funnier. Wort wort wort never gets old
Getting headshots is easier using classic aim help, though it is way too accurate in some cases

I mean we do have 4 wheel stop, as in brakes on all 4 wheels. But i live in Wisconsin and I hear ya on winter driving dummies. The biggest truck and best winter tires still aren't a guaranteed safe winter drive...

My problem with Halo CE with the remastered graphics is that the blood just wasn't there or they were so small that you couldn't see it. Besides that the anniversary graphics are fine imo.
I must admit that I switch back and forth like a lunatic for most of the level
I am 13. and a year i played halo for the first time and freaked out the first time i saw the flood. Such a good game.
The anniversary graphics also make it more connected to halo reach. My only problem is that the majors arent the same color in reach.

Personally I've never played any of the halo games. The concept just didn't appeal to me. But i might give this port a chance, now that i have a lot of free time.

People that keep saying about the new graphics suck are annoying as hell, they remind me of the fallout new vegas fans that keep commenting that fallout 3 sucks in every fallout 3 video they see
I’ve never understood the hate for graphics. If you don’t want to see the better graphics than just play the original game.
Also, so glad I found a reviewer who doesn’t excuse levels like the Library and Keys because “oh it was 2001 we can’t be too harsh on Bungie for reusing stuff.”
But yes easily best halo multiplayer. Only one I consistently play
I'm glad to see a perspective that isn't unnecessarily negative towards this port. I've seen lots of people take the minor bugs that do exist (like the plasma pistol sound being bugged, or animations being locked to 30 fps) and use them to claim that the game is unplayable, or that the game is in an unacceptable state and therefore shouldn't be played.
I really love halo, but the community is full of whiny bitches. I'm glad Jarek isn't one of those people.
The plasma pistol sound glitch is on console too. You can get it with the elite controller so its not a port problem
I think the OG graphics look better than the remastered graphics (It's still fun to see both tho)
edit: some things do bug me with the new graphics, like how elite shields and plasma rifle shots are much harder to see in the new version, and with Halo 1 and 2 I just think the OG graphics have a lot less visual 'noise' and seem much clearer
edit edit: also the only level I genuinely dislike is the Library, I think there's still fun to be had in Two Betrayals and Keys despite being copy paste
Speed-running through levels.... not something I thought of since on Legendary you would get killed in 3 seconds lol. Turn up the difficulty.
1. This was on heroic
2. The strat on legendary is the same. Run through before the flood can spawn or it gets much more difficult.
3. Get good
I can understand why people don't dig the new graphics, but besides some geometry fuckups I don't mind them.

You summed up my thoughts on CE multiplayer so well. It's just such a quicker paced game than Reach.
Man, all these years later and the one thing about Halo that still makes me reluctant to replay the games are the flood. Because unlike the excellently designed covenant the flood, as enemies, are exasperating and boring to fight. I really wish they'd went with any other extra faction rather than hive-mind zombies. However, the flood is the only thing in game I genuinly dislike about the Halo franshise.
I just want halo 2 and 3 on PC I'm so excited!
There's also a bit of lore reasons why the covenant themselves weren't as focused as they were in Reach (it shouldn't be a surprise Reach was basically a pre-quell to Halo CE) as there was a power struggle going on between Vhel (the arbiter) and the prophet that was accompanying Vhel's fleet when they discovered the ring, the prophet tried to take command of the entire fleet something Vhel wasn't having any of it, however once the flood breached their containment cells all his focus went on making sure all his forces escaped from the ring alive as well as taking the necessary precaution of shooting down any ship that didn't appear clean on a scan, hell that carrier you board in CE was down there because of the prophet took it down to the surface but wasn't able to take it back into orbit due to the flood overwhelming him.
basically its actually the prophets fault the ring was destroyed not Vhel's
@@jamestor6700 Literally basically, did the prophets see it that way? No, they just used Vhel as an example and stripped him of his rank, his name, etc, all because of something that was outside of his control.
It's nice to hear a big youtuber finally say what I think is more true. The sound effects and improved graphics are better. I have a nostalgia for the older graphics but they're aren't better imo either. The new graphics may be more colorful but Halo was kind of always meant to be and for them to push that further because of hardware limitations being raised makes absolute sense. The game looks like it fits with Halo 2 and 3 more as well because of that.
That statement about the mind filling in for graphic limitations in the past was perfect ... You made it make sense as to why I remember PS2-Xbox 360 graphics being so amazing.... In the prime of those consoles I remember thinking it wouldn't get any better or more detailed, even thinking "what's the difference?" when the current generation of consoles came out and even years later.

Then again, if I remember right, the MCC version has the song removed. Licencing reasons, I assume. Rest in rip.
You didn't even get the right game when trying to correct me. Blow me away doesn't play any where in Halo CE. It plays on gravemind in Halo 2.

Every time I see somebody stream Halo CEA, I see half of their chat harassing the streamer into using the original graphics instead of the anniversary graphics. Like how much more pathetic can you get?
I actually was surprised by the flood reveal since I never played Halo before, until a few days ago. Thought it switched to horror genre.
