Howell's a cheap backup with upside. What QB in the draft has 18 NFL starts and 19th in QBR last year at 23 yrs old? I'm not going to grade the trade until after the draft.
@user-jf3zu6ni8l Pay more attention my friend, we didn't lose picks. We just moved back in 2 of them with little effect considering washington's draft placement.
@@bretkester8316They gave up on him because they changed GM/Coach and have the Number 2 pick in the draft. They want a full reset. Do you think they would have dumped him if they had the 14th pick in the draft?

Great analysis. I think the trade got expensive with that third round because the GM said other teams were starting to get involved as well. Price might have been pushed up in the back rooms. Worth it for what he offers over 2 years. He is a solid backup QB you can win 3 games with each year to stay in a playoff hunt.
Not sure how you can dislike a QB who is younger than Penix and Bo nix and has a whole year under his belt starting in the NFL, while showing potential. Drafting a QB at 16 doesnt automatically get you a franchise QB. Most will be gone by then. Id rather draft Troy for our LG spot, which is a must safer pick over these QBs. Groom Sam Howell, low risk, high upside potential. If they dont think he is the guy, good-bye.
The best channel on in depth analysis of the Seahawks!! 💚💙With all the effort you put in you more than deserve the 10K subs and beyond. Thanks for all the hard work Rob 🙌🏾. And lets get those subs 🔼🔼 !!!
I like the trade honestly, but I also see your point Rob. Howell can move and create, he shows some Wilson traits. I feel this means a trade down or two are in the cards
I dont mind this trade. It does not reek of desperation in the sense that it is using what amounts to a late third/early fourth for a young player. It allows them to trade Geno while still giving the QB a year to develop and it also gives them a suitable gap QB if they end up needing to wait a year. I also love the idea of a red shirt year and it has happened countless time where a QB is meant to sit and the starter peoceeds to get a season ending injury. Lastly, Howell might not completely be a known quantity; i just hope that his mistakes are correctable
I think it’s a smart move and I trust John Schneider, especially when it comes to quarterbacks. Has a Brett Favre traded to the Packers kind of vibe to it and let’s not forget Schnieder’s roots. This has huge potential and upside. We have a year of Howell on tape in the NFL as he played behind a bad Oline and a coaching staff that was well aware that they were on their way out. He was still impressive in his ONE AND ONLY year as a starting QB. Dude is accurate, has a huge arm, steps up in the pocket and delivers. We have to help him get the interceptions under control and minimize the bonehead decisions. As history has shown us, we all know that one or none of these QBs in the draft will amount to anything. This happens every year with the draft, everyone gets all worked up glittery eyed over the qbs.
nolanb - i actually like your take. i get what you mean with your example of Favre although i'm getting sick of short QBs and Howell i think is only 6-1 hahaha. but... i think people are over-reacting that this was somehow super expensive in draft capital, i just don't think it was. i know people will disagree with me but... with Lock leaving we needed a backup QB, i only like Caleb in this draft - i'm kinda 50/50 with Maye but i'd take him if we were at 2 but we're not. Howell has got 18 games under his belt, great arm, super super high character guy etc. i so, SO think Denver and maybe even the Rams were sniffing around him as well. i think it's a no-brainer, hell i'd even bet that if a couple starting QBs on other teams went down in training camp or pre-season this year - there'd be a market for him. i just don't think you (the collective you, we) can underestimate the value of 18 games of experience vs. taking a stab outside of top 2 QBs in this draft. even if you think Howell isn't very good - i actually think he's better than Daniels, Mcarthy & Nix will be but... who the hell knows cuz drafting QBs is way more of a crapshoot than people think. anyway, sorry for the novel - i just liked your take:)))
I think giving up a 5th on its own would have been more palatable, probably wasn't an option. JS mentioned there was some competition for his signature.
I like Howell...if he proves to everyone that he's better than his first season once he gets a chance to learn behind Geno. That might be all he needs. I think too he's a character guy. With a new coach, you want some good influence guys in the locker room.
I’ll take Howell over some of these other Quarterbacks in the draft he’s younger than some of them too. If Howell was in the draft what round would he be?
I'm guessing the Seahawks either didn't rate any of the quarterbacks in this draft as worthy of taking in the first round, or if they did, the cost to move up to get him would be too prohibitive. If they were planning on taking one of the later round quarterbacks instead, now they have one on the team they likely feel has more upside than someone like Jordan Travis or Joe Milton, and could devote resources to filling other holes, likely trading down to get more picks. Howell's season was a tale of two halves last year (much like Geno's last two years), white hot the first half of the year, ice cold the second. I like the idea of seeing what he can do, seeing what the Seahawks coaches might be able to unlock with him. He may very well end up as nothing but a back-up, but I'm okay with Seattle taking a flyer on him for a pick swap that essentially equates to trading a fifth round pick.
First off, thank you for you thoughts. Always good to hear well thought out arguments. A few things. Not that it really matters but I really don't get your opinion on McCarthy. He just turned 21. He's extremely athletic. His frame is a concern certainly but the same could be said for Jayden Daniels. I honestly don't get why so many people are down on the Howell trade. I don't think this is some amazing move. But it filled a need without costing any real cap money and without losing any actual picks. Sure, it would be better to pick at 79 than 102, but statistically the difference really isn't all that big. It's unlikely that you are going to get a high level producer at 79 or 102. Which is why keeping the volume of picks is more important than the draft slot, at least in the later rounds.
Well it takes more than being young and athletic to be a good QB. I’ve watched all his games and graded him in R2. I’ve explained my thoughts many times. The difference of 24 picks is VERY big in this range as someone who has spent an unreal time studying this class last summer and has compiled a 250 player horizontal board
@@robstatonfootballI know you've done a lot of research and I do appreciate the effort you put in. But historically speaking, there just isn't that much of a difference between 79 and 102. IOW, I think it is better to trade draft slots and keep the same number of picks rather than trading away a 4th or 5th rounder.
@@flyerhawk History doesn't matter. This class is what matters, who's available ay 78 vs 102. It's a big jump, one I don't like at all based on the tiers I've studied and taken care to break down
im probably Just higher on Sam Howell than most, but I like this trade a lot. Let him and Geno compete and if Geno isn't playing well give Sam a shot and see what we got. Unless we got Williams or Maye, I didn't feel great about the QB class
Josh Edwards of CBS Sports in his latest mock has the Seahawks trading with the Steelers and moving back to 20 and drafting Fautanu. He has the Steelers drafting OT Amarius Mims at 16. Not sure the details of the trade since it's only a 1st round mock, but sure wouldn't be upset at all if that happened.
I think it has more to do with the line of scrimmage. We have got to fix our line before we can be successful at the QB position. Macdonald has even talked about that it all starts up front in the trenches
@@robstatonfootball I agree a great QB is nice but I think a good O-Line with good playmakers and a good defense can win a championship and I don’t believe any one of these QBs in the draft is better than Geno
He has NFL experience and is still younger than some of the QB's in the current draft. It's a little expensive but it's more of a sure thing than any QB outside of round one this year and even then we know he is already a capable backup at least.
I like Rob had a recoil when I saw the trade. After sitting in my GM armchair for a bit I was able to make peace with it for a few reasons. 1. I felt that the Hawks were going to draft a QB this year. I didn't like the options that they have for getting a QB that had any chance of competing for the starting job (Williams, Maye, Daniels, Penix or whomever your top 4 or 5 are) and therefore would have to sit behind Geno for at least a year. I compare Howell with those Quarterbacks and think if we really liked a guy we may have had the urge to pull the trigger on one of them just to keep them from getting away from us. Best Player Available be damned. So in essence we get our QB and drop a pick down a round verses using the pick and losing it all together. 2. Howell has NFL experience. Who knows what any of these rookies will do in the pros once they get there. 3. I appreciate the safety of the trade. Like Rob said its almost a hedge in case you missed out on a guy you liked in the draft. 4. Here I agree with Rob again that this means they are almost assuredly going to trade down. Which I am a huge fan of. Whether it be for picks later in this draft or next. I don't think we are in a position to make a far run in the playoffs this year so I'm of the ilk to keep stacking picks and building my team. Appreciate the video and your point of view on the trade Mr. Staton, fine job.
I kinda like the pick Robbie. I look at guys like Stafford, Goff etc that was out in the right system and worked out. New OC and play callers would make the Seahawks look different. I think it was a safe move.
I kind of liked the move now that I’ve had time to digest it. Sure he is a backup and a draft hedge, but I feel like JS see a potential star in him. Potential is the key word, because obviously the chances are not great that he can become a top5 QB. But QBs are always a gamble, and even with a top 3 pick your chances of a top5 QB is not that good. They may have simply felt that chances are comparable to the QBs that will be available when the Seahawks are comfortable taking one this year. Looking forward to seeing what they do in the draft.
I pretty much entirely agree with you on this trade. Although I think I am a little bit higher on Howell's potential. One other thing, I don't know if you have spoken on it already but how did you feel about Washington signing Luvu on the contract they did? I know you liked him as FA and I felt like Washington signed him on a very reasonable contract. Might be the one FA I am a little sad about Seattle not picking up at the price he went for.
Thanks! But I think you are unecessarily pessimistic on Sam Howell. With a competent coaching staff, he could still be the young quarterback we need. He has the physical chops... Glen
I watched all of his UNC games and gave him a day three grade. Saw nothing at Washington to think he’s anything to get excited about. Think there’s a lot of hopium that he’s anything other than a cheap backup
Hey Rob this might be a crazy take but what are the chances that the Giants would be interested in moving down to 16 the Hawks move up to 8 to take a game changing player with Sam Howell in the deal? I don't believe the Commanders and Giants would directly trade by virtue of being division rivals. Imagine if someone like Alt falls to 8 who is considered a potential HOF generational Tackle.
Rob you seem really down with the trade , I quite like him he nearly won the game for them against us last season, I actually think he has a bit of Baker- Mayfield about him. Anyway I dont expect too much this season it will be ins and outs but after that we have to start competing.
@@robstatonfootball I know Rob, as usual, I watched it behind the settee with my hands over my eyes as per every other Sun...I am not a Geno fan , so mediocre which is not what we stand for , so lets give Howell a crack..Can you please do a podcast about how to maximise DK Metcalfe ????????
Howell is a starting level Qb he will be that guy for us and we trade back in the first and get a second and some more to get defensive players and a OG to protect him better
Good stuff. Not sure I agree entirely with the Bobby Wagner take because it’s not like he’s still not one of the best LBs jn the league, but pretty much everything else is spot on. Sam Howell might be better than what we expect. Been watching a lot of Commanders videos and they all seemed to view Howell favorably even after an up and down season last year.
I don’t think Wagner is one of the best LB’s in the league. I think he’s actually close to replacement level these days. Just too many exploitable weaknesses
If I’m John I’m only staying at 16 if Troy Fautanu, Jared Verse, or Taliese Fuaga are on the board. Seeing as they’ll all go before 16 they should move down. I’m perfectly fine with Cooper DeJean in the 20s, or Graham Barton.
The trade for Howell to acquire a QB2 wasn’t bad in my eyes, but I can’t help but think this was a knee-jerk reaction a bit. I think a trade down from 16 (multiple times) makes a lot of sense. I also agree that trading down and missing out could suck. Cox-Irvin and TJ Watt-Malik McDowell happens. I really need to evaluate more OL in the 30-60 range, because I can see us grabbing a OG there. I know Damien Lewis was a 3rd rd pick and was a 4-yr starter.
Also think comp picks played a role, trading for a backup has no effect on what seems to be a strategy they are deploying. And if they move off Geno next season they have competition for an oncoming rookie for 1 mil
I don't disagree with you often, but on this one I think you're really underestimating Howell. I think he has a legitimate shot at QBOTF. He's got a great arm, is very tough, runs well, and will only be 23 when the season starts. He also costs almost nothing to the cap and we have two years of control. And we gave up roughly a fifth in terms of total value to get him. Great move in my opinion.
Why were the Commanders wanting to move on then? We got a young, experienced backup. Another cast off from another team. Idc about the cost grades, we still gave up a 3rd when we were lacking draft capital.
I actually like the strategy of looking for the next QB in the "secondary market". These guys have already been "blooded" in the NFL. Draft is always a crapshoot for qb's.
@@bretkester8316 We gave up the equivalent of a fifth, so almost nothing. And the Commanders are sitting at #2 in a QB heavy first round with new ownership/coaching, of course they want their own guy.
@@bretkester8316 nah, both fields and Howell could be "good enough" to win in the NFL. Both were in bad situations, and since the AVERAGE fan has a superhero idea of the QB position, they go along with the flame-war "hot take" version of sports journalism that we have nowadays.
Cheap backup, potentially really cheap bridge in 2025. I don't love it, but I he's probably as good as Lock, and obviously cheaper. I think this cements the team trading back from 16 and picking up more top 100 picks.
This just tells me they exhausted their trade up discussions and found that it's not going to happen. Howell is younger than Nix, same age as Penix, so why not just trade a lower pick for him rather than draft a QB? I don't expect them to draft one now, and I'd look for Schneider to trade down from 16. No big deal. Howell is our new young, developmental backup.
I’m not mad at this trade at all. Howell has got some serious upside he’s a total gamer. it’s not his fault the OC had him throwing the ball 622 times in one season. behind an absolutely crap line. I’m talking the worst office of line in the whole entire league. and he’s got some wheels if he has to run. so not mad at this at all
I disagree with you on this Rob. The trade was an equivalent of a 5th round pick. He won’t cost much for the next 2 seasons and he has potential upside, I think it’s a win for the hawks.
There are several teams in NEED of a QB. Seahawks most likely see it as slim to nothing that they will get the QB they want . But those teams that get their QB will then be less likely to have cap money for a really good guard so Seattle will be in a good position to snag a guard at the 16th pick. That’s my silver lining in this trade deal.
They are making roster changes/additions, which will give them a lot of comp picks in 2025. That's why they traded for Howell, instead of signing a free agant QB, who might cost them a comp pick. If Howell can stop throwing so many INTs, he might become a decent starter.
I don't love it, but it's not a completely unreasonable price for a backup QB who is still under control for a couple years and will turn 24 in September.
I actually love the trade ..gutsy Qb ready to put his ass on the line , can move and make shit happen .All you have to do is ask Washington fans they most likely liked this guy as QB
At a glance, he's better and younger than Geno Smith. This is our move to move off of Geno Smith entirely. We're doing some redirects to confuse peeps a bit. I think John has a plan, likely to draft a QB in the 3rd round like Russ, maybe a Spencer Rattler. I don't believe Grub and team aren't looking hard at drafting a QB round 1still.
JJ was hurt against Penn State. That’s why they ran against them so much. Why risk your qb’s health by getting him hit when your run game works? That’s just being smart. He wasn’t healthy until the Alabama game and he looked fine against them and Washington. Brought them back against Bama. Made an unbelievable play after one handing an errant throw back to him from his running back, threw a play across his body downfield with great accuracy despite having Dallas Turner in his face. That’s his floor. He’s 21 years old. Absolutely will end up being the best qb in this draft, mark my words. Completely outplayed Penix in the natty.
There's always a reason why McCarthy 'didn't win a game with his arm'. Always an excuse. I've watched the games, he's OK. Unspectacular. Intangibles A+. It is what it is.
So…he wasn’t needed. The team was good enough that he didn’t matter. All year long he was used minimally and hidden by Harbaugh. He’s never done that with a qb his whole coaching career with the same offense. All of the others, every single one, was a focal point. So why was McCarthy a non factor? Because as you said, he’s “fine.” He can manage games. That’s his ceiling.
I'm soooooo stunned that Schneider's scouts are not looking at Jeremy Moussa (Florida A&M). That kid is light years better than Sam Howell and JJ McCarthy!!!
Richard Sherman does needs to in fact, put the microphone down. His opinion and legacy continues to be tarnished year by year. Bobby could not cover a bed with a sheet last season. We will always love him.
Love the channel and love your analysis. However, I think your judgement on Rattler’s personality is still stuck in the past. Rattler’s public-facing personality has changed significantly compared to his high-school years and he certainly wouldn’t be close to the biggest jackass this team has drafted. Regardless, thanks for your thoughtful breakdown!
Chris, I have written countless articles promoting Spencer Rattler, how he's changed at South Carolina and I have him firmly graded in R2. I also know what I've heard from people who are way more qualified than I am and no, teams have not just decided to completely ignore the Oklahoma stuff. So it's a thing and I have adjusted my analysis as such. Some will see beyond it, some won't. I don't know what the Seahawks will do but I do know they are all-in on character in the draft and that shouldn't be ignored.
Not sure I really have much faith in John anymore. Every trade we make makes me make this face 🫨 and except the Russ trade it’s never really gone well with the guys that the trades end up with. Our salary cap is a mess, eventually you have to ask “whose fault is the state of our squad”? We had pick 5 and didn’t get a qb or go all in and move up. When do we ever pick that high with our own pick? He says he’s wanted to pick qbs every year but at the end of the day “he” is the gm so just take one. When good teams trade for players I always think “good trade”. We gave away the higher of the 3rd round picks as well 😂 Anyways haha, Go Hawks
Basically we got a young QB ( who is as young or younger than any in the Draft ) and a 4th and 6th with NFL starting experience for a 3rd and a 5th. I'd take that everyday all day. Howell was ruined by Eric Bienemy in WA. EB was passing on 66% of the downs with a young QB is STUPID! He has all the tools to be a good QB with the right coaching.
Seems like an affordable insurance plan for not hitting your QB in the draft. And if you do hit your QB in the draft, you can probably get similar value for him mid-season when someone's QB goes down.
I don't like this trade. I see a bit of value to have a upside backup, but not for what we gave up in draft positions. Those picks are more valuable when there are glaring needs all both sides of the ball. Disappointing.
This is a daft reaction IMO. A lot of people forget that had Sam Howell came out in the 2021 draft he would have been the #1 pick. He’s only 24 and cheaper than what Lock would have cost. This trade was low risk high reward and I’m betting Sam will be WAY better than Lock ever was/is. This off-season has been the best by the Seahawks in the last 15 years and it will show come December.
He was no way going to be the #1 pick 😂 I love how my detailed thoughts for nearly 30 mins are described as ‘daft’ and that’s in your reply. Good grief
Yeeeeah, hate to say it, but not impressed at all with the Seahawks FA moves so far. Especially this one, Tyler Huntley would have been a better trade.
Dang Rob. I know you don't like when people harp on you about being negative and in the past I've been on your side, but coming from a fan, with all due respect, dude, for the past year I don't think I've heard you say one positive thing about the Seahawks staff, roster, free-agent moves, or trades. I haven't heard you comment on one move you like. It is a lot unapproving views and opinions coming from you. Like damn, at what point do you maybe just say this isn't the right organization for you? I don't say this to be rude or harsh, just an observation.
Dang Nightbringer, do you pay attention? How about 13:25, 'I am not saying it's a terrible decision or doesn't make sense'. (just not happy about the price paid), 14:32 'that could be their plan.... I don't think it's the worst plan in the world!', 15:58 'it bothers me a little bit that if the plan is to move down... they might not get someone as good' --> Really? How about in the past 1 week?? TODAY and YESTERDAY: the guy's said he likes the majority of the Seahawks' free agent moves, including the Leonard Williams and Noah Fant Signings, to say nothing of George Fant, etc. A DAY AGO he said 'Seahawk Fans - Don't Panic Over The Seahawks Not Signing Player X, Y, or Z? 3. TWO TO THREE DAYS AGO he wrote a post titled 'Why The Seahawks Have Had a Great Start to Free Agency' ---> How is this him being overly negative?
You clearly don’t watch all of my videos then, or read all of my articles. This is a ridiculously lazy take. But I’m not surprised. This happens every time you say ANYTHING about this franchise that isn’t “everything is awesome”. Maybe this organization isn’t right for me? Because I wasn’t all in on the Sam Howell trade. Jesus wept what a dumb thing to say
@@robstatonfootballIt's not this one move, it's the summation of the last year of content. So yes, I'm saying it's a sure thing I've missed some stuff from Rob and I'm sure based on feedback from others, some of that has been positive feedback. And like I said in another post, In the past I have been one of those people defending Rob's way of analyzing and communicating about the team, in an honest, yet subjective way. I don't have any problem with criticism of the Seahawks, John, Pete, others on the coaching staff, players even, have all done things worthy of criticism. No one is perfect, mistakes are gonna happen, disagreements are gonna happen and sometimes just bad decisions are made. That's all fair game. And sometimes people just disagree with a certain approach to roster construction or playbooks, doesn't mean either side is wrong, somethings are just differences in views or philosophy. I get all that. And again, this is nothing personal with Rob, it's just that I tuned in and immediately it's "I don't like it, I don't like the player, I don't like the value, I don't like...". I like the trade honestly, but I also see your point Rob. Howell can move and create, he shows some Wilson traits. I feel this means a trade down or two are in the cards
I was gonna say he like a Russ and Geno hybrid
The interview with Wingo was excellent.
My question is if not this trade, then who is the back up? Not coming from the draft, who else would you want given the budget constraints.?
I think giving up a 5th on its own would have been more palatable, probably wasn't an option. JS mentioned there was some competition for his signature.
The pick swap was valued as a 5th rounder though
The guard market is so ridiculous, average players getting overpaid because teams are panicking
I like Howell...if he proves to everyone that he's better than his first season once he gets a chance to learn behind Geno. That might be all he needs. I think too he's a character guy. With a new coach, you want some good influence guys in the locker room.
thank you
Who should have been the backup qb?
Jaden daniels is better than both of those
@@alexha2884 'Jayden' and it doesn't matter we won't be able to draft him either so the point is irrelevant
I doubt Fautanu even lasts to 16
I think it has more to do with the line of scrimmage. We have got to fix our line before we can be successful at the QB position. Macdonald has even talked about that it all starts up front in the trenches
You still need a great QB and you can’t wait for the perfect time to get one
@@robstatonfootball I agree a great QB is nice but I think a good O-Line with good playmakers and a good defense can win a championship and I don’t believe any one of these QBs in the draft is better than Geno
@@Joeymi1008 A great QB isn't 'nice' it's imperative
Historically, even great TEs usually fall out of the top 15. Seahawks need to take Brock Bowers at 16, if he's still there.
I miss the sonics .....nice cap !
I think the trade was great! And I bet John will get the pick and probably more back.
I think it's very unlikely TBH
Rob you seem really down with the trade , I quite like him he nearly won the game for them against us last season, I actually think he has a bit of Baker- Mayfield about him. Anyway I dont expect too much this season it will be ins and outs but after that we have to start competing.
To be fair, our defense was atrocious
@@robstatonfootball I know Rob, as usual, I watched it behind the settee with my hands over my eyes as per every other Sun...I am not a Geno fan , so mediocre which is not what we stand for , so lets give Howell a crack..Can you please do a podcast about how to maximise DK Metcalfe ????????
Howell is a starting level Qb he will be that guy for us and we trade back in the first and get a second and some more to get defensive players and a OG to protect him better
I don’t think he is a NFL starter
Drew Luke vs Sam Howell? Thoughts….
Wash. But Howell is cheaper
I anticipated the Seahawks signing a cheap Quarterback. Just didn't expect them to spend draft capital to do it.
Exactly. Stupid. 21 INTS
@@boeklo1251 and available for one reason: they weren’t good enough.

Cheap backup, potentially really cheap bridge in 2025. I don't love it, but I he's probably as good as Lock, and obviously cheaper. I think this cements the team trading back from 16 and picking up more top 100 picks.
Grubb went to the Oregon pro day though
So they might be interested in Nix
Interesting. I'm surprised you don't like it Rob.
@@rickdarcy8689Next you will be telling me he's English.
@@rickdarcy8689I think he's been pretty correct on mocking QBs that others thought would go first round and Rob called how bad they would be.
I feel like all the "bedroom GMs" online get enamored with the gamble of the draft because speculation is the one area they feel qualified in 😂
I’m not mad at this trade at all. Howell has got some serious upside he’s a total gamer. it’s not his fault the OC had him throwing the ball 622 times in one season. behind an absolutely crap line. I’m talking the worst office of line in the whole entire league. and he’s got some wheels if he has to run. so not mad at this at all
Love the Sam Howell trade
Love your outlook on the situation Rob!!!! You're always so insightful!!! ❤❤❤
Still hoping for a QB in draft that can allow a trade of Geno.
I disagree with you on this Rob. The trade was an equivalent of a 5th round pick. He won’t cost much for the next 2 seasons and he has potential upside, I think it’s a win for the hawks.
Did they even push for 3rd rnd+ for Fields? Id be happier with that unless they are moving up to try and get McCarthy
Fields. lmfao
You do know how much money fields makes compared to Howell right?
There are several teams in NEED of a QB. Seahawks most likely see it as slim to nothing that they will get the QB they want . But those teams that get their QB will then be less likely to have cap money for a really good guard so Seattle will be in a good position to snag a guard at the 16th pick. That’s my silver lining in this trade deal.
They are making roster changes/additions, which will give them a lot of comp picks in 2025. That's why they traded for Howell, instead of signing a free agant QB, who might cost them a comp pick. If Howell can stop throwing so many INTs, he might become a decent starter.
reminds me of the old Schneider days: Somehow most of the picks are gone without improving significantly
i dont like it at all
Sam Howell is younger than Bo, Nick and Michael Pinnix 30th
They can easily get a 3rd round pick back in the draft by moving up
I agree with you Rob. Sam Howell to me is a cheaper version of Drew. Looking at their stats and QB rating very comparable.
21 INTs
I don't love it, but it's not a completely unreasonable price for a backup QB who is still under control for a couple years and will turn 24 in September.
Great now we have a backup quarterback that throws a lot of interceptions just like the starting quarterback.
I actually love the trade ..gutsy Qb ready to put his ass on the line , can move and make shit happen .All you have to do is ask Washington fans they most likely liked this guy as QB
John wanted Allen and mahomes. Plus Grubb might be a QB whisperer.
I don't want to move down to 25.
Seems like an affordable insurance plan for not hitting your QB in the draft. And if you do hit your QB in the draft, you can probably get similar value for him mid-season when someone's QB goes down.
It makes them less obvious for going for a QB
Jaire Alexander? That one there all pro cornerback we should have drafted
I'm upset with Dan Quinn for not doing us a solid and allowing us to trade up for one kf Jaden Daniels or Drake Maye. Shame on him! 😅
Good grief

I don't have any problem with criticism of the Seahawks, John, Pete, others on the coaching staff, players even, have all done things worthy of criticism. No one is perfect, mistakes are gonna happen, disagreements are gonna happen and sometimes just bad decisions are made. That's all fair game.
