    My problem with voice control is simple, if it takes longer to complete the command than doing it manually then the system is not good. One point of engineering is to improve processes.

      It might gonna take bit longer, but the point is to do it while looking straight driving and safe for now. Hopefully eventually with better hardware and software voice recognition will improve...and that is exactly why we don't have to worry about technology taking aver humanity quiet yet, lol

    It truly amazes me on how expensive vehicles have become, I guess that's why they have 8 year car payments, but then you're in debt forever.

    Good review showing many of the features and aspects as well as his own impressions ... which is what is needed to get a Nice take on the good and not so good about the vehicle... Much better than those speed comparisons..... Also, it appears that Roman was just trying to do most all in One Take ..... so speaking a little slow .... tolerable, but when fully prepped he then speaks more fluid.

    The rear end is the best view. The rest of the design is a tad bit bland. Also, those wheels look odd on a car that utilizes blacked out trim.

    • @golfbuddy1969

      Eric Ortiz bland is a good word. But can’t that be said for all Audi crossovers? Their cars aren’t, but SUVs are somewhat vanilla.

    Some of these tech features are such gimmicks that reviewers love, but consumers will never use, drive up the price of vehicles so much, drastically lower residual values for vehicles as they age, and lower the profitability of vehicles for automotive manufacturers. I’m worried for the industry; these are vehicles that you keep for 3-10 years, not homes.

  • @EODHammer

    This vehicle is much more impressive in person. It will be VERY cool when they come out with the S model. It's pricey but it's very nice and drives very much like a car that costs this much should. Roman was having a bad day lol.

I happened to watch Vehicle Virgins review of this vehicle right before your review and it was two different worlds. While he was a little too enthusiastic, I appreciated his energy. You sounded bored of the entire process and it looks like you were dinged for it in the dislike column.

    Good review, like it ... looks nice, curious how it compares to the Grand Cherokee ( exterior/interior dimensions ) .... it is odd how the put cutouts under the rear fender diffuser for exhaust tips, but not the rear bumper’s fake ones .... is there a problem with cars being rear ended & that’s why manufacturers are moving away from exhaust ports?

    • @jasonmartineau6441
      @jasonmartineau6441 3 роки тому

      If there is a problem with the exhaust design coming out the bumper way, it would be the heat that comes from it that would be an issue. Burning people's legs off, you know.

  • @cloker375
    @cloker375 5 років тому

    Another great review Roman. Fully you should mention S6/A6 as I traded my 2016 S6 in for my new Q8 a few weeks ago.Just mentioning - you thought the radio kept coming on - that is actually the "Welcome" sound it makes when you turn it on. It can be disabled but I like it a lot.There are a ton of customizations with the car that really personalize it. Including shortcuts that you can bring up down in the lower screen to stations, destinations, etc. ... One of my favorite features with the XM radio is setting all your favorite stations and the Q8 begins recording all of them when you get in car. Then as you switch XM stations it rewinds to beginning of current playing song and you can even skip back multiple songs. ... Regarding the voice command - there is an option to web enable the voice system. I haven't played with its capabilities really with it web enabled as instead of tapping on the voice command button - - holding it down a second will bring up siri or google voice - so no need for a voice command system that answers extended queries. Also Apple Carplay and Google Auto are wireless (so no need to plug phone in to have them working - just a Bluetooth connection). And there is a Qi wireless charger built into arm rest.Just a few observations from my few weeks with the car. … I miss the raw power of my V8 S6, and the Q8 could use a tad more. But from a room and luxury standpoint I am not disappointed in it at all.

  • @krane15
    @krane15 5 років тому

    The orange is polarizing; and despite the size of the rear door the window still doesn't go all the way down, which is a massive disturbance to my OCD. Incidentally the car is a paradox, since its a flagship with a wimpy 6 cylinder engine. That makes no sense. Where's the supercharged turbo diesel? Or are all VOA diesels now verboten after the scandal? One more thing, can someone explain to me the positive of the frameless windows?
    One more thing, all of the SUV in the VW Group using this platform are incredible off-road 8/10 capable vehicles. in fact the original Touareg was detuned because it was more off-road capable that most buyers wanted.

  • @crsantin
    @crsantin 5 років тому

    It's nice. If I'm looking for an SUV I'd get the 2019 Hyundai Sante Fe at half that price. It's all you really need in such a vehicle. Even the BMW x3 is much cheaper than this and very very nice as well.

    Quattro Ultra is all wheel drive UNTIL it detects it can safely decouple the rears.

    • @TFLcar
      @TFLcar  5 років тому

      It is one of those, "is the glass half empty or half full questions?" In real life the Ultra system is almost always FWD....so it is really AWD UNTIL it detects wheel spin or it is FWD until it detect slip? Either way web prefer AWD all the time like the Q8.

    • @BananaChipzzz
      @BananaChipzzz 5 років тому

      The Fast Lane Car I hear ya. I suppose if you live in California, never accelerate hard, and are always driving in a straight line it will be FWD. Truth is, if you're accelerating, cornering, it's wet, cold, the car detects you are not on smooth pavement at all (it doesn't wait for tire slip) or you have the car in sport it will ALWAYS be AWD. So I kinda disagree with you (and so does Audi)

    • @TFLcar
      @TFLcar  5 років тому +1

      We road in the new SQ5 with an Audi engineer who had an iPad hooked up to the car’s Ultra Quattro system showing in real time where the power was being sent on dry pavement. Would it surprise you that it was the front wheels almost all of the time? So it the car FWD or AWD when needed?

    • @BananaChipzzz
      @BananaChipzzz 5 років тому

      The Fast Lane Car Right. Dry pavement. If the car detects it can unlink the rears it will. If the pavement is not dry or rough or sport is requested or hard acceleration, or the temperature is below x degrees, it will STAY in AWD. Other manufacturers will still be slip and grip in those situations.

    • @tim3172
      @tim3172 5 років тому

      @@TFLcar If you rode in a new Audi with Quattro Ultra it wasn't the SQ5.
      The Q5 does have Quattro Ultra. The SQ5 has a Torsen system.
      In a similar vein the A4 has Quattro Ultra. The S4 has a traditional Torsen system.
      SQ5 All Wheel Drive description:
      quattro® technology
      Legendary quattro® all-wheel drive comes standard on the Audi SQ5. An available quattro® sport rear differential offers an even more dynamic driving experience. For example, when accelerating or turning into a corner, it can direct the majority of the torque to the outside wheel, helping to propel the vehicle out of the curves.
      Q5 All Wheel Drive description:
      quattro® all-wheel drive
      Legendary quattro® all-wheel drive with ultra® technology combines driving dynamics with efficiency. In specific driving circumstances, it can proactively distribute torque to switch from front-wheel drive to all-wheel drive, giving your vehicle enhanced stability and traction where it’s needed.
