These guys are great! I just purchased their gracie combatives dvd set and it's great, although a lot of the info is here already on youtube. It's still a worthwhile investment!
I used to go to the old Academy in Torrance on a random weekday morning(s). Rener and / or Ryron would teach these basic Combatives classes themselves. I even went in one morning and Rener was CLEANING the BATHROOM! This was like 2011 / 2012. They love teaching and helping everyone. Not true for all "Instructors" often times. I went one time in the evening and got to watch Rener and Brian Ortega rolling. It was awesome!
Great technique!! I used it in a BJJ class against a fellow white belt and it worked perfectly! I am only a couple of months learning Jiu Jitsu. Nevertheless a blue belt told me afterwards, that this technique would NOT work on him or anybody with some Jiu Jitsu background, he assure me that he would easily achieve side control before I ever try to flatten his leg out or during the process. Taking into account that he never leans on me I can not test it for myself. I personally think this technique would work on him if I do it properly and at the right moment, but would it be that "risky"?
platoonsvg I know it's 3 years after but egos say that. I had someone tell me that wouldn't work also the fact you have them in an arm triangle choke, I've been told I would never tap them. This position there is a submission, a sweep, and a back take.
@RSletitrange16 Depends on size difference. I weigh 150 and work with guys that weigh 290 so there's no body triangle there. I can get their back this way just about every time though. If they prevent me from geting the back they almost always give up balance and I get the mount.
There is no doubt so much to learn from BJJ, but I find Gracie Jiu Jitsu is the very best when it comes to street application with it's simplicity, economy of spent energy, and effective techniques. This technique is a great example.

Which pixel is Rener?
XDDD my chest hurts stop XD
yeah I hope people know they can go for a arm triangle as another option before taking the back that way. I do that from guard all the time.
This is great shit. I love when strikes on considered! That's real Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu to me.

Arm triangle from bottom is generally low-percentage against guys twice your size
Max Loh you have to adjust the angle
gracies you guys are awesome
thanks
I'm completely sold on Brazilian jiu jitsu. I think I'll seek it out.
Great instruction, works perfectly!
Can an arm triangle be applied as soon as you can get your bottom leg from underneath him?
@pbfedorov Actually, if you can't get the arm you can just hug the body. The arm is just gravy if you can get it.
@menyu Arm triangle from the bottom requires a certain amount of strength. At my size I'd MUCH rather have the back.

Badass, I want to learn jiu jiutsu
Same here. You can also arm drag from half guard which will get you into a similar position as step5 (Marcelo).
this a good video it real helps ALOT.
Will try this the next time I roll. Thanks!
very good explinatiion.
Great Im gonna try
well said
Niiice! I like!
@yourtubeusername001 Because it's strength dependent from the bottom.
nice
@pbfedorov
i used this move in a real street fight, believe it works really well
Shitty quality but rad technique.
