8 years later and this playthrough is still soooo good. I think what i love the most is the little pauses to hear the dialogue and watch the cutscenes, its not a very exploitative or rushed playthrough which makes it great to watch.
Man, I love how much effort Bungie put into giving the Marines some character. Fighting with them always enhanced the gameplay, and made you feel part of something bigger. Just another aspect of Halo that 343i has completely ignored or changed.
Hokiebird428 Well, I'm going to try to follow your Legendary Guides for Halo: CEA and H2A, but if I find some levels too hard then I'm using the Bandana and Scarab Skulls and blowing past everything.
Wow, the marine with the rocket launcher killed me so many times. Once they even killed me enough times to revert to my second to last checkpoint. Thanks bungie.
One of my favorite levels in the entire franchise. Fighting alongside marines with all their quirk and personality, using them, arming them with power weapons and watching the fireworks, vehicle combat, warthog and scorpion play, varied enemies and battles. Such good stuff, and this guide you make is still a very entertaining way to just watch the game, too, LP-style.
I got pretty lucky on my run, during the third phantom encounter at the beginning, one of my ODSTs shot a rocket and hit one of the Spec-Ops Elites in MID-AIR killing him and causing another to die with the splash damage. I'm amazed as to how he didn't magically find some way to kill himself.

Thanks so much for making this video, helped me finally beat this level! Wasn't really able to keep the soldiers alive but knowing how to anticipate a lot of the enemies helped me out a bunch.
I love how you keep your ODSTs alive the entire time. I had to restart the section with the 3 phantoms about 20 times because my ODST kept blowing themselves up with the Rocket, and then we made it to the Scorpion and that was the end of that. Wanted to restart but paid my respects and moved on without them. I can never get many of my Marines/ODSTs to survive when it comes to vehicle sections, especially on Scorpions. You're a legend.
it's a real struggle if your marines are dead at the drone waterfall... I eventually did it by using both the beam and human sniper back to back and taking out as many drones as possible before they swarmed me, and then slowly took out all the snipers beyond the tree and the elites, then slowly hit the drone triggers and sniped them over and over. I died a lot

The main thing that's stopping me right now, is the numerous places in the mission where I'm finding that I have to do them over and over until I get lucky.

If anyone has no marines at the "Off the road, through the bush, nothing but Jackal." part, bring carbine/battle rifle and sniper/beam rifle. After sniping the first wave of drones, snipe the elite that spawns in a cave on the left. Jump left (to the ledge leading to the cave) instead of jumping down and pick up the plasma rifle from the elite you just sniped. The second wave of drones would have already spawned and they will follow you into the cave. From there, you can take out the drones with the plasma rifle, while being completely covered from the Jackal snipers. From there, you can then snipe from inside the cave. Only three waves of drones seem to spawn when you do this though. When the third wave spawns, retreat back inside the cave. Cycle between plasma rifle for drones, carbine/sniper for Jackals and beam rifle for elites.
Just have to say that you do an excellent job on this walkthrough. I never got confused and it was easy to follow. You can revert to your second to last checkpoint by dying soon after reverting 5 times in a row. I imagine things would have gone a little smoother if you had known you could do that.

Right after you snipe the drones as you enter the temple, back up enough to where you can both the left and rightmost temple structure. Zoom in twice and you should see an elite plus one grunt in the leftmost temple structer, and two sleeping grunts in the rightmost temple structure...you're welcome.

Yes, but if you drop it, you can't pick it back up again. This means that you have to hold on to the sword for the entire mission, but an Energy Sword won't do you much good in a sniper-based mission. You need to have a Beam Rifle and a Battle Rifle/Carbine.
