In case anyone is wondering, the soap is stacked after cutting, because it needs to "cure", or finish saponifying. This ensures that (a) the remaining lye in the soap has reacted with the olive oil, so it does not burn your skin (which would be _very_ bad), and (b) it lengthens the usable life and effectiveness of the soap. These bars are left in these "towers" for months.

The love of my life gifted me a bar of this soap after 4 years of watching this video. And im writing this to say to anyone else watching this to numb the pain or soothe themselves--- it gets better and the soapies will always be here in the meantime.
I have watched this video dozens of times over the years-- its so soothing to me, simple, ASMR-ish, just relaxing to see such beautiful work's fruition. I first saw it when I was about 16 and it helped so much with my anxiety-- I would watch it on loop to go to bed and would periodically return to it over the years, becoming obsessed about it and forgetting over and over. I am now 20 and in my first long term relationship--- as things became deeper between us we shared we both struggle with really intense anxiety and so showed him the soap video I would always return to just once. 2 months later I received my very first bar of this unreal bar soap from him out of nowhere-- he just remembered that I had always wanted one. Now I am putting the bar in our bathroom of the apartment we are moving in together soon.
Let me tell you that this bar lathers so nicely. It smells so pure and earthy, when I smell it I feel like I am in the Nablus factory with these men. I love it so much even though its a bit drying on my skin. xxx

What craftsmanship, at every step in the process, including the guy with the lightning-fast hands wrapping them! 😳. This really is amazing... every bit of it. They are doing an awesome job. No machines, no chemicals, human efficiency at best. Even the wrap is natural. This truly is organic. Hats off to them. I never have appreciated any video so much. This whole thing takes you back in time. Love it. Wish I could be there.

If they used machines they would be able to make double or triple the amount per week and prevent back pain and long term problems like arthritis. The wrapping could easily be done by a machine and every worker there would still have a job to do but they would just be operating the equipment instead. This would not only increase their income for their families but make it to where they could expand their business.

What are you mean "no chemistry"? Actually chemistry - is exactly that process in result of which they got that liquid, later turned into a soap.

@kodona ha, ha, ha.....Zionist and their supporters can not handle the truth, as a result, they turn to attacking those who don't agree with their occupation, genocide, ethnic cleansing and Apartheid that they carry out agains the indigenous people of Palestine. Much like those before us who stood-up against slavery in the USA, and Apartheid in S.Africa, we expect ignorant uncivilized zionist and their ignorant blind supporters to attack us. Still we continue to stand on the right side of history and in solidarity forever with Palestine and the native people of Palestine. Palestine forever,...and mark my words, Palestine will be Free.

This was wonderful. It's just like homemade soapmaking, but on a large scale. This may not be the way we make large quantities of soap bars in the most technological countries anymore, but if there's ever a disaster and we can't get soap or the complex automated factory machines, this is how we'll make it, the old-fashioned way by hand. Just like people everywhere in the world still do in their kitchen, but here on the scale of a commercial factory operation. Really fascinating to see. Everything they did made sense! And the process of an ancient soap factory probably looked just the same. The tradition continues.

5:48 I would love to know what these men are in conversation about, this is a wonderful video and showing us how traditional handmade soapmaking is done, they make it look like an art. I would love to travel to Nablus one day and learn from these hard working people.

This is art. The hard work involved is way too much for a commodity way too trivial but I am sure that these people love their art way too much for machines to let it run. I love this too. Such a therapeutic video too. Would love to buy a dozen or two of these wonderful soaps one day! :)

Honestly though the economics of it are not so bad that it’s not a good gig. Consider the overhead of modern machines, maintenance, parts on hand etc. The work is great for their health and actually maintains them better.

We are soapmakers (Stoney River Soap Company), and I am just fascinated by this wonderful video. I've watched it three times in the past couple of years. Those guys work so hard. One thing that was skipped, though, was video of the men actually lifting the soap off of the floor. The man who is wrapping the soaps... I would lose all circulation in my legs sitting like that. This all looks so ancient, yet they do have UPC codes on the wrappers. All-in-all this is a classic.
