How’s this motor holding up now? I’m about to do the same to mine and would like to not pull the head off! But I want to make sure it won’t effect the longevity by doing it this way
Hi chaps, I know I'm 6+ months late to the video... however, my car was having issues with head lift, I've just had whole engine refreshed (skimmed, metal headgasket, etc) should I go ahead and through a set of these into my engine to eliminate any future chances of head lift?
I maybe noticed something. Did you remove the old headbolt washers before installing the new ones? As the video you only showing removing the bolt without the washer.. noticed this after I got the head back on the block an realized id left the old washers in
Hey mate, how’d the motor go after this process? Thinking of doing the same for my barra turbo. Can’t be arsed pulling off manifolds and etc to get the head off so I was gonna chance it and use this method. Any updates with it?
Hey man, ran the car for a month at around 460bhp with no head issues as far as I'm aware, it should be fine to do on any motor but maybe check with the Barra community to be sure :)
@@ProjectRacecar yea cool, I’ve been told that many workshops adopt this method when doing headstuds only as it saves time. I’ve ordered a set of studs so I’ll be giving it a crack soon as they arrive. Cheers
@@ProjectRacecar I plan on making a video on it and uploading it to UA-cam. I’ll definitely send a link your way and if you’re interested enough to watch it, you can haha. It’s something I should’ve done ages ago but I was told the head wouldn’t lift on anything below 600hp. Mine makes 520hp at wheels and I just don’t wanna risk it 😅
Hi i am jayson from south america aruba i love ure video s nd actually that s my dream car as well i have n t buy one yet the r33 skyline gts t yet but soon i will buy one off them nd my question is does any one can tell me or help me out with my 20valve black top engine coz its cranks but doesn t starts i ve changed the ground power that goes from the budy off the car but now its doesn t crank its getting power the way its should have now but the car doesn t received true the ignition pwer
@@ProjectRacecar I see I just recieved my ARP bolts and was thinking if i should drain the coolant and oil so they dont breach into the head gasket seal...
@@ProjectRacecar ahh… i see.. i didn’t pay attention to the date on the upload.. you see ,I bought an r32 gtr last year that supposed to have arp 2000 studs and I just found out it didn’t.. it has a mls head gasket but oem head bolts.. I am running about 500whp so I feel for upgrading my head bolts as well… 🙈🙈
How long did she last after this ? Is she still solid?
Watched your video a few times and was interested to know how this worked out? Was contemplating doing this to my RB26
I knew this had to be possible. I kind of wanted to replace the head gasket as well, but that would be a lot more work.
Love the channel, fellas. Really informative and helpful for us RB25 peeps
Thank you man that's very kind :)

I would definitely recommend it if you had it all rebuilt yeah! Think there is a shortage of them at the minute but worth waiting :)

Yeah there should be new washers with the ARP bolts as far as I remember :)
New drinking game. It’s called Obviously
Updates?
Thank you hope I can get mine together again tomorrow wasn’t sure if arps could be fitted with the cams in place.
FYI only possible with 13mm 3/8 drive long reach my 1/2 wouldnt fit, a little rummaging and managed to get it torqued. Thanks again.
Awesome! It is a little bit fiddly but worth it for not taking the cams out :D glad it helped!
Ive checked every relay insides the car nd every fiuse nd still its nots cranking to start
Its an toyota levine bzr 1995 that i own here

Yeah I think it's definitely common practice, we found it pretty easy, best of luck and let us know how it goes :)

Check the exciter wire that runs to the starter motor. I would of thought your problem lies with that!
did you drain the fluid before doing this?
We didn't drain anything although we may have had the radiator off at the time can't quite remember
@@ProjectRacecar I see I just recieved my ARP bolts and was thinking if i should drain the coolant and oil so they dont breach into the head gasket seal...
Nah you shouldn't need to drain anything if your doing these with the head still on :)
I'll give it a go
@@ProjectRacecar Installed the arp headbolts today, I'll give an update after another month!
Hey guys! How did the stud upgrade work after you got the engine running again..? :)
We haven't got the engine running yet as we film a week before, but stay tuned for when we do :)

Ah yeah I would probably replace them at that power level, it should be just as easy on the RB26 to do them :)
@@ProjectRacecar yes i think so to, and as I said,… I thought it was already mounted… 🙈🙈 so I mapped the engine to 1,5bar boost.. 😂😂
😂😂 yeah it's difficult to tell without looking at the studs haha, at least you noticed and can replace them before the head lifts up 😀
