    Wow, Channa, not sure how I ever managed to miss this video! Your enthusiasm for these towers is propelling, as though you are sucking us all in to this elevated hype! (That’s a good thing)! I am in the market for a set of towers, and your presentation has sold me! Thank you!

    Great video, I've been considering upgrading from the RP-440C and the RP-280F's to the RF-7 III's and RC-64. My wife is not really interested in spending more money on speakers right now but after this video, my interest is reignited! Cross your fingers for me!

    I didn't get the impression you were very impressed with them Channa. LOL. Told ya you they were amazing speakers. And just think, you might be losing some amount of bass because they aren't getting a lot of boundary gain with the rear of the speakers not being closer to a wall. Great video as always. Love the enthusiasm.

If you had the choice to run you front left and right for a 7.2.4 denon avrx -3700 with a emotiva epa gen 3 powering my front stage, what you chose to for your front left and right setup. A pair of Klipsch rf-7iii or pair of Hersey IV.. This set up is for strictly movie theater watching. What would you choose and why? Any additional info you want about my space, set up, or listening position I’d be happy to provide. Thanks

    You went kinda hard on the RP-280Fs. On your review on the 280s you said they're awesome sounding and amazing. You totally did a 180 degree turn on them. Frankly I think they're great speakers and much improved from their predecessors.

    • @TechnoDad
      @TechnoDad  6 років тому +12

      Hi David!! Not really, I still love the RP-280Fs, and if I think they are awesome, that just means the RF-7 IIIs are more awesome! Comparing a $600 speaker to an $1,800 isn't really fair, but that's what people in the Klipsch FB group wanted me to do. Since some of them are toying with the idea of upgrading. Don't forget, I'm pushing 160 wpc into the 280Fs, and I'm also listening at very loud levels...somewhere in the 99 - 106 db range is where you'll hear slight differences in speakers. I wasn't knocking the 280F, just stating the difference between that and a speaker that was designed to be the flagship of Klipsch's line.

      Was thinking the exact same thing..i dont recall a single comment about the 280 f's brightness issues which in my oppinion def exist..finally some truth about the sound of the 280s..a bit late but hey

    • @toparak
      @toparak 4 роки тому

      Its because he's a very biased reviewer and I guess that's fine since all sound and speaker thing is a very subjective thing. If you compare Forte III to RF 7 III you will probably get the same effect.

      @TechnoDad  2 роки тому

      Thank you, Andrew! I was in the same position, 280Fs to RF7IIIs. I had the Forte III's for a few weeks and they are great speakers but totally different than the RF7IIIs. If you're looking for a more well rounded speaker for different types of content, music, movies, TV, and video games, I would go with the RF7IIIs. Make sure you have room as they are big!

    It's interesting because multiple reviews have said the 280 F speakers have a flat treble response and were not overly bright. Audioholics provided detailed measurements to support this. You are the first reviewer I have read who said they are overly bright.

    Hi Techno Dad. Thank you for your review! I'm late to the game interested in these RF 7 III's!! I would like to pair these with Emotiva's XPA-DR3 ( 450W CONTINUOUS & PEAK ). Is this a good & SAFE match for the speakers at 250 CONTINUOUS? Or, would an amp at 250-275w CONTINUOUS be better? I have the RP-504C center channel ( 150 CONTINUOUS/ 400PEAK ) Is this safe to match as well?

    I have a ATMOS set-up with a Onkyo TX-RZ3100 receiver in a 18' x 23' room with a 200" screen.
    2 RP-280F speakers up front.
    2 RP-280F speakers at the rear.
    1 RP-450C center.
    1 R-115SW Subwoofer
    2 RP-250S sides
    4 RP-140 ATMOS speakers mounted on the ceiling.
    I'm toying with the idea of going with the RF-7 III and the RC-64 III on the front sound stage and putting the 2 front RP-280F's where the RP-250S's are now. I'm just not so sure if it's worth the much higher price. I wish I could get a demo of those in my theater instead of somewhere else. That way I'd know how they would perform using my set-up.

    Curious if you feel the cost difference is worth the sonic improvement? I am considering these as well as RP-6000F or 8000F. My ideal listening/viewing area in my home is 17x12x14. This area is part of an overall great room which flows into a kitchen which is 17 x 14 x 34. So room filling with great dynamics, and musicality is first and for most. Your suggestions for my room would be greatly appreciated!

      Hi Gary!! I love the RF7IIIs especially for two channel music. The sound is on a whole new level! I came from the RP 280F which was replaced by the 8000F. The dual 10” woofers and larger horn and tweeter in the RF7III really bump up the sound and I don’t need a subwoofer when listening to two channel music. They really are very good and worth the extra cash. Contact my Klipsch Dealer Cory and see what he can do: bit.ly/TDPHTFB

    I wonder if the RP 280s replacement...RP8000 is the same in the highs?...has a new horn technology....lastly...you seem to turncoat on the 280s from your past posts...I really don't expect $500 speakers to sound as good as $1800 speakers...the only ones that I've heard that punch way above their weight is the $99 Pioneer's Adam Jones SPFS52s...but I'm sticking with the 280s...I don't hear the harshness...just good sound.....

    • @TechnoDad
      @TechnoDad  6 років тому

      Yeah, speakers a ver personal thing. We all hear different things when we listen to speakers, and some people are more sensitive to higher or lower pitches. Take for instance the Yanny or Laurel situation. I was asked by people in the Klipsch FB group to compare the two, even though it's not a fair comparison. Trying to compare a speaker that's 3 times the price, it would probably sound better due to the different materials and cabinet design. Don't get me wrong the RP-280F is a fantastic speaker!! I stand by all the previous reviews about the RP-280F. Inherently, horns have a tendency to be too bright, and Klipsch develops different technology to battle this. The new RP-8000F has a newly designed titanium vented tweeter. Don't know what that sounds like yet...

    So, since the RP-280Fs are harsh.. what AVR do you suggest we run those speakers at for dolby atmos? Is Denon x6300H more than enough? And what can we do to improve the sound if the AVR isn't enough for music? Do we need an extra amp for music? or even a pre-amp? And if yes, can you name some that would fit perfectly with RP-280Fs? (lots of questions sorry)
    Cuz, I'm going for 2x RP-280Fs on 1,2k euros both, instead of 3,4k euros per RF-7 iii speaker. Who knows, maybe later on the long future I upgrade.. when I'm rich..LOL

    • @TechnoDad
      @TechnoDad  6 років тому

      Don't get me wrong, the RP-280Fs are awesome speakers!! I listen to music super loud and I'm usually pushing 160 wpc into the speakers. At some points they will strain, but it's gonna be VERY LOUD for a long time. The RF7s are three times the price, and it shows. Newly designed tweeter and larger drivers with a hand made cabinet. You'll totally be fine with the 280Fs!! As long as you make a few adjustments in the X6300H, you should be fine to run 2-channel music.

    I gotta give the "3's" a listen. The last time I heard Klipsch speakers was at least 10 years ago if not before that. Hated the harsh/brightness from the horn tweeters THEN. I stayed away from all horn driven speakers from that point. Stuck with silk-dome or ribbon. But Youthman in one of his mentioned the new tweeters in...how the materials used had changed. The harshness was gone....forgot which speakers he was referring to...don't think it was the RF7III's...
    Odd Klipsch doesn't have surrounds yet to match the flagship floorstanding and centre -III speakers. And in-ceiling heigh speakers to make a complete "3 series" system.
    For subs...2....JTR Captivtor 4000's or Rythmic, or PSA 3511's... SVS apparently no longer reigns supreme...There is better now...heh...

    • @MrBrosan989
      @MrBrosan989 6 років тому

      @Dark Moon only this? I guess I was expecting something more... Does this mean that the 100 db is more power efficient than the 88db? Let's say both are 500 W.

    • @TechnoDad
      @TechnoDad  6 років тому

      Hi Vegeta!! I actually made a video about speaker sensitivity, which I will link in this message. What it means is if a speaker has a sensitivity of 100 db, at 1 meter away, with 1 watt of power, I will be getting 100 db. To go up 3 db, we need to double the power. And, since I sit about 14 feet away from my speakers, the volume gets lower depending on far I am away from the speaker. So if I had a speaker with 88 db sensitivity, I would need more power to get to the same volume level where I sit, 14 ft away from the speaker. Here's the video link: ua-cam.com/video/53KBKYeJdPs/v-deo.html
