One of the best Pokemon games ever, and the very first Pokemon game I've ever played. My old Crystal save had over 900 hours played, and I've managed to complete the entire Pokedex (except for Celebi) but then my battery died, and I lost my save file forever. Ahh, good childhood times! The specific 8 bit graphics and music still look and sound great after all these years, and this game is definitely worth a try even today! I would say that it's a timeless classic. There may be a better games in the Pokemon franchise such as Emerald, Platinum, Black 2/White 2 or the fantastic Gold/Silver remakes, Heart Gold/Soul Silver but for me, the original Pokemon Crystal will always have a special place in my heart.

I think it is once per save data. Your given a Event Item from the Goldenrod City Pokemon Center at your first visit which is needed to start the Celebi event
According to the website mentioned at the end of the video, you get the chance to catch Celebi after beating the main game. Though I don't know if that refers to after beating the Elite 4 or after fighting Red.

I apologize too about my comment, but yeah I got pissed too, I've been waiting for this ages and my inner kid is happy now, the rareness with some legendary pokemon sadly will be lessened, time pass, more people play the games, more generations are created, it was about time for Celebi. This had to be the method used in the first place tho

Hopefully the rumoured master collection with all the 3DS games put into HD will be coming eventually as well but I want the original gen 1-2 games on switch but also be nice for them to add gen 3 ruby, sapphire and emerald and fire red and leaf green as well because it is the only way to get certain ribbons like the champion ribbon and same goes for 3DS games like kalos, hoenn and alola champion ribbon and who knows there may even be a DS gen 4-5 collection in the works but I definitely want the gen 1-2 games on switch without a doubt

I keep seeing people say that the 3ds needs to die and nintendo needs to focus on the switch. The question is why? Why can't both co exist. Both systems have great games and not everyone wants to buy a switch right anyway like me. I want a switch but waiting to enjoy my 3ds awhile longer.

Switch is not as good portable as 3ds is, it's heavy, the battery runs out quickly, its big, and still doesn't have the awesome rpg library that 3ds have.
I really prefer to play switch on TV mode, and let the portable stuff to my 3DS.

Just to put my 2 cents in this. Anything after gen 2 is not needed for the 3DS since anything after that gen can be transferred to the current games, so re-making them for the 3DS would be kind of a waste.
mine craftia - You have a point there, but I don't think you can say that for Pokémon Colosseum and XD: Gale of Darkness. Those games are severely underrated and are overlooked by a lot of people, and I definitely believe they deserve to be available again.

They likely will, since it said you can encounter Celebi. I believe that's what the GS ball was for in the first place, so it's likely this version was delayed so they could implement that.
DblBarelBanana Yes that was its purpose. If you showed it to Kurt it triggered an event in the Ilex Forest, even the text was translated, but the ball was never distributed. Japan got it through the online phone adaptor if I'm not wrong.

Seriously. It'll save you a lot of time. Gen 2 has zero modifiers for Shiny odds. Enjoy soft-resetting for a 1/8192 probability.

People have been soft resetting shinies for years, no different now. Also, weren't glitch Pokemon transferred from Red/Blue/Yellow deemed illegitimate in Pokebank?

Depends upon what you mean. Invalid index numbers (Missingno. between index 0 and 190 and the other glitch Pokémon in index 191- 255) Mew without the proper event ID number, and Pokémon with moves they shouldn't have, yes. But most of them move through perfectly fine.
Even overleveled Pokémon move through, they just drop to 100 on the other side.
Since Celebi is an event enabled capture with your ID, the same issue shouldn't occur that did for Mew.

Dark Magician's Cousin it’s possible for he Switch to connect to 3Ds family. The new Monster Hunter in Japan came out for Switch and 3DS, and the Switch and 3DS can hook up locally and online to play with players from 3DS or Switch to take down Monsters.

Duplication glitch works in this. Dupe all the legendaries and move to pokemon bank the to pokemon home to bring them to sword and shield. Makes filling your pokedex a lot easier when you have 100s of celebis, ho-ohs, lugias, enteis, suicunes, etc to offer.

Not really. The story is different, and it has a ton of new features. If you ever counted Emerald, Platinum, or Crystal as new games then this is no different.

that won't work. the 3DS and the switch are two competently different consoles.
Elite four Well with Game Freak no longer making Pokemon games for 3DS, it stands to reason that the Switch would get Pokemon Bank so that you may transfer Pokemon to and from the servers. The same servers as 3DS.
After Crystal releases on E-Shop, it will be possible to play every Pokémon generation on the 3Ds family except the third. Since now, we are able to play Gold, Silver and all the games from 1º, 4º, 5º, 6º and 7º generations on the 3Ds family. When Crystal releases on Virtual Console, we will be able to play almost every Pokémon game from the main series on only one console.
Omega Ruby and Alpha sapphire are available on the 3DS
But they are 6th gen games. I know they are remakes, but they aren't the original Ruby and Sapphire. At least we have the remakes. I think it would be awesome to play Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, Fire Red and Leaf Green on the 3Ds Family.
Mark my words, they will anounce Ruby, Saphire and Emerald on the Nintendo Switch VC and we'll be able to somehow transfer from Crystal to 3rd Gen

The only reason why the GS Ball event was Japan only due to being able to connect to mobiles. Also due to the mobile feature not being popular outside of Japan, they had to remove it all.

That’s literally the same with me lmao, I know this comment is 5 years old, but I guess I’m 17 now, I just got Crystal cuz Pokébank is closing March 27th THIS YEAR and I REALLY wanted to get the Shiny Hidden Abilities of Ho-Oh, Lugia, Suicune, Entei, Raikou, and Shiny Celebi for transfer.

bezoticallyyours83 - It's a Key Item exclusive to Japanese copies of Pokémon Crystal that can be obtained by connecting a Game Boy Color to a cell phone using a Mobile Game Boy Adapter (Japanese-exclusive) and using the Pokémon Mobile System GB service, which was exclusive to the Japanese version of Pokémon Crystal and Pokémon Stadium 2. I guess you can say the service was similiar to how online events work in current Pokémon games.
Anyway, you take this GS Ball and give it to the Poké Ball maker Kurt in Azalea Town. After a day, he will give it back and then you can put the GS Ball in the mysterious shrine in the Ilex Forest. Celebi will fly over to you and you can catch the Pokémon from there. Making this GS Ball no longer Japan-exclusive is a big deal because Celebi is _extremely_ rare to get legitimately outside of Japan.

I have a 3DS XL and a Switch. I think that I like my 3DS more though because it's more comfortable/easy to use and it has also a great battery life

Bradley Chan I like my Switch a lot more than my 3ds but I'm scared to take it anywhere outside my house, it's still portable but not as easily and conveniently as the 3ds
I find the 3DS XL way less comfortable personally. As for battery life, anything that pushes the hardware on a 3DS XL has about the same battery life as games which push the Switch, 3.5 hours. The difference is those games are WAY more impressive on Switch.

Broadbull, Enabler of Uncounted Combos but in crystal you could hatch a pichu which you could evolve it into pikachu and then a raichu
pretty sure the baby pokemon is always randomized, iirc I got Tyrogue on my 1st play through & managed to evolve it into a Hitmontop
also Ampharos > Raichu, Raichu is only better in doubles or with Surf, neither of which are possible with just Crystal

Regarding the Sinnoh games: Get Platinum! Its battle code is much more refined, which makes battles way, WAY faster than in Diamond/Pearl. Also the story is much better and there are a lot more things I don't wanna spoil! 😅
In case you find a copy of HeartGold/SoulSilver: Get it with a PokéWalker, they're a LOT of fun to use, especially in the beginning! You can even get a Pikachu that uses Fly/Surf with the PokéWalker.

I do Own Platinum already, hence why I didn’t say it along with Diamond and Pearl, I did get to the Part of fighting Cyrus in the Reverse world, but I lost and I got sidetracked with other stuff, since I had already quit for a long time as I Caught a Cold and didn’t have the mojo to play.
Gen 4 Probaly is not retro, yet at least, but it most likely feels that way to me considering I’m still Young, and the time which I started pokemon.
I Do hope to find a Pokewalker, I do wish I was born earlier to have gotten into pokemon and play Gen 4 and 5 when they were still Big and Had Internet capability’s,
The pokèwalker does seem cool, And the fact you can get a Flying Pikachu with it, makes me want it even more,

Hylianguy38 Why not just replace the battery. Of course now that wouldn't be the best way to play it since you can't transfer your Pokemon, but before this was announced, it is pretty easy to replace.
TheGrayGhost I never saw the point with getting attached to Pokémon that are essentially trapped in that gen. This virtual console jazz is boss because you can move all your Pokémon to the most current gen.

Nintendo still hasn't gotten a GBA emulator on the 3DS to run at the levels that they want it to. Nintendo approaches the concept of emulation as "if it's not perfect, we're not doing it".
Even with the "New 3DS", they couldn't get it to run at 60fps. (I believe that it was running around the 50fps range).
The Ambassador Program, simulated the GBA instead of emulating it, as in no save states, menus, or anything else that the Virtual Console is known for. This all comes back to Nintendo's perfectionism philosophy.
As much as I would like the GBA games to come to the 3DS, it's not going to happen.
Maybe the switch, but there still isn't any firm plans for a virtual console for the switch, let alone any plans to emulate GBA games.

It does, It's just more difficult.
They literally just take the code from Crystal and input it onto the 3DS. You will be to, although you can't just turn off the 3DS like you could the Color, Advance, or DS.

It’s a luxury for me to be able to afford a new game, because I live on my own and don’t make a lot of money. It’s why I usually only purchase big titles, and not small rereleases as often. It’s very rare that I do purchase rereleases.
