This reminds me of when I was walking through the hallway next to these guys and there was somebody in a wheelchair in front of us, I don't know what they have but I do know they're special Ed. So I'm walking right next to the dudes and one turns to the other and says, "Last chance to me Hector", and I try not to laugh as much as I can. Long story short I think I was doomed to hell for laughing at that joke
Now this story gives whole new meaning to being afraid of the dark. This is the fear of the void taking shape.

I have a simple solution to keeping this stuff from destroying any (or at least many) more lives; tell Anish Kapoor about it and he'll buy exclusive rights to it so no one else can do anything with it, and then only make like three things with it which hardly anyone will give a shit about, just like he did with actual VantaBlack.
If that happens Stuart Semple will just have to outdo him again though.

This double take being left in the video is happening so often to so many story channels that I'm starting to think it's intentional.

Yes, I’ve always wondered if that’s just something that gets missed in editing or if it’s intentional
Really enjoyable narration, you can feel the characters fear through the vocal expressiveness. I still find it hard to suspend my disbelief and this isn't due to the narrator. The concept of the story is that this new pigment absorbs 100% of the light. Human eyes need light to see. Unless this experience is in the mind how could the chracter see any of this? A throwaway line of the chracter being aware of the possibility of it being a trick of the mind doesn't negate what he described starting the issue. The idea of fear and exsistensialist horror based around the concept of losing ones self in such a way is cool. The trigger for it just doesn't make sense which makes it interesting that they address the common dead author issue so many other stories make.

Judging from the comments, this is an old one, but I've never heard it before. Is this the material Death's cloak is made out of in Terry Pratchet books? So black it absorbs the light? Did the doctor who invented it talk LIKE THIS?
Sir Pratchett's Death wouldn't be this humanly idiotic about it's misuse... but same concept really...

I was wondering what happened to this story. Multiple narrations that used to be there for it (including one by The Dark Somniun) seemed to disappear for some reason
They got put into a youtube server painted with BVB
The truth is that I actually got optioned to turn the story into an episode of a potential tv show by a production company about two years ago, and as part of the option agreement, I had to contact anyone I had given permission to narrate it and ask them kindly if they could take it down.
The option ran out this past Summer and the production company elected not to renew it, so I contacted MCP and Grax and told them they could put their narrations back up. Shout out to both of them for being so understanding and considerate when I had to ask to have them taken down. I felt really bad about it.
Ah. So this IS a classic creepypasta.
A shade that is significant darker than Vantablack was already been created back in 2019. It absorbs 99.995% of incoming light. So, we've had "beyond Vantablack" for the last three years.
An average Thursday, sounds like.

You are correct. MCP graciously took the original down for me when the story got optioned two years ago. When the option ran out, I told him he could put it back up and he said he was going to do a new reading of it instead. Great job, MCP!

No, the color Beyond Vantablack is the void itself. It doesn't drive you insane, it is tearing away at the very fabric of reality, allowing things that shouldn't be anywhere near our reality in.

Why did this get pulled initially? Was it somebody pretending to be the author to abuse the copyright system just for shits and giggles? 😑
No, I asked MCP and others who had narrations of it to take them down because I'd signed an option agreement with a production company and part of the agreement was sole rights to the material. They graciously did so. Once the option ran out this Summer and the company didn't renew it, I contacted everyone who had taken down their video of it and told them they could put it back up.
