I test rode that baby last summer, and it felt superb! It's absolutely smooth, and very quiet. It has no vibrations at all (unlike its gasoline counterpart C650GT). Throttle response is absolutely instant, and there's very much torque everywhere from 0 rpm up to the redline. Acceleration is very strong and rapid. Handling is superb due to very rigid frame - bike handles very good and easily (again, better than its gasoline counterpart). By the way, it has reverse. Brakes are quite weak - worse than on other BMWs. Such expensive bike should have better brakes for sure. Stock screen are not tall enough, and stock seat are to firm. Both of this issues can be addressed since accessories catalogue has both tall screen and comfort seat. Again, for such a price as this bike costs these parts should be stock - not an accessories. Other than that this bike is flawless. And it's REALLY fun and cool to ride. I'd definitely buy it if I had a lot of money. Sadly, I don't.
BestRex I’m surprised the unit you rode had weak brakes. The one I tested had good brakes for a scooter. Also, the ABS didn’t intercede until the tires were howling.
Yes, ABS were working flawlessly. But the initial bite of the brakes just wasn't even closely as strong as on the other BMW motorcycles (not scooters).
Evan - been reading and respecting your work for years! Thanks for a great review. I think electric scoots, bikes, and cars could be the future, if they can improve the range and charge times. A lot!
exactly, in a typical motorcycle.com video fashion, you learn absolutely nothing and the video is boring. They should just do promotional videos for dealerships because that's what their videos are.
Quick calculation shows it's carrying 14Kwh of battery. My I-miev 4 door has 16Kwh and goes 60 miles. So about 4 miles/Kwh. So 7 miles for BMW. Not bad for 2 wheels. In fact the Zero motorcycle does combined city/hwy of 95 miles on a 13Kwh battery. So very similar. BTW the chevy Bolt with 60Kwh battery does about 4miles/Kwh. So at least everything is consistent.
What were your data for the quick calculation? For reference, the Zero SR/S (15 kWh) goes around 160 km (100 miles) according to this test in 113 km/h (70 mph): ua-cam.com/video/Rwq1AMWCdBQ/v-deo.html I-MiEV is a car, isn't it? Not really comparable to a motorcycle. (By the way, w doesn't mean anything and K means kelvin, so Kwh doesn't mean anything meaningful. It's kWh. 👍)
I usually use audio to text and it gets wonky I do a little editing but not much. As for data I don't know what I used but was close, it's 12.5 kWh according to Google. Imev is a Evie micro car, and being more aerodynamic I figured about even power usage.
You forgot to mention about the weight and handling at low speed... These things need heavy batteries and this is a challenge for competing against other petrol powered scooters
Since it carries its weight low in the chassis, low speed handling is great. You’d never know how heavy it is. You’ll find out a lot in the article linked above.
I would Buy one for 7000, not 14,000. Cars and Bikes are now another pieces of Electronics kinda like Flat Screen Televisions 20 years ago they were 20 thousand dollars now you can get one for a few hundred bucks. Cost can come way down look at the price of PVC pipe pennies on the Dollar. I realize you pay for the Technology advancements but the Batteries have to be the highest cost of the Bike. What we need is a Breakthrough in Battery Technology to at least go 200-300 miles or more. 50 miles is ok for just going to places local in your community. Thank you for the video.
Onoff314 and I won't use a toll road. Fuck that insanity. My KTM SD and GMC truck do just fine. I could live in Dallas for four times the cost and ten times more crime. I'll stay in the country. 45 minutes drive is kinda nice.
Pretty neat. I wouldn't buy one, but I'm glad it exists.
Finally a decent review on this Maxi. I am on the fence buying it but I would really wanna use it for commuting to work and back.

You should have made this review. Information that prospective buyers need to know. Thanks for the info

Do you know what a REVIEW is?
Hint: it's not reading spec sheet over few shots of driving while playing dumb music in background -.-
Ja sam +1 a deserved dislike

Interesting how this will compare to Niu Project X (when it comes out in the end of the year or early next year).
Thank you for this video! :*
A bit disappointing that the battery life hasn't been improved since its original launch years ago
Why do they cut the floor boards short? I want my feet underneath me, not forward. That's why I'll never give up my Helix.
Let me know when the review is ready
Range Anxiety is all I can say

I always love electric vehicle

Read the review. But one big plus is the reverse - helps mitigate v v low speed manual handling.

Cool, but can it do wheelies?
I need this in India, like very soon please.
It's a $10000 bicycle. Never work in Texas
SunzOffski nope. Texas is to big. My commute is 70 miles. And I like to fill up in 5 minutes not 8 hrs. Nice kid toy tho
But it'll be pretty useful in civilization. By which of course I mean city life.
You commute 70 miles? Fuck that life hahahahha

Give me ⛽
I won't consider these until they can go 200+ miles, and charge fully in 20 minutes...probably will never see that though
NO NO NO, great looking scooter, terrible battery range!! And 75mph top speed, to difficult for passing power on the freeway!!!
Bullshit Range. Range anxiety will drive you nuts. 👎
Scooters are for old people and food delivery.
Its so ugly..
Go electric!!!
