Wow this sounds like a neat series. I’m curious to hear what else will come out of the absolute Comics collection. I’m glad they used Booster Gold as well. I like him a lot too. Batman turning his chest symbol into a weapon is amazing.
What I like the most is the potential of what other characters, like what we've seen with the Flash (wally without barry) or Green Lantern (GL without Oa?) What others could be? Green Arrow who never ended up on the island? Captain Marvel but Billy is an old man? Cyborg but the original self was died and his father remade his son from scratch?
Honestly my own take for billy would be a billy without any guidance where he meets the wizard but before he can tell billy how to use the powers of shazam he dies. And billy slowly figures out how to use the powers. Like have it where he can yell hercules and get just his strength. Etc until he eventually figures out how to use all of them by calling shazam.
Since sonic 3 comes out next month have you considered doing a sonic comics video like talking about the comic original heroes and villains or doing shadow the hedgehog s history in comics
Still strikes me as odd that both the new Ultimate Marvel & Absolute DC are the result of in universe villains mucking around. I'll take your word for it that they're good jumping on points; but it still feels weird
I like the focus on mothers. With Bruce and Clark especially the mothers get ignored in favour of themes of father’s legacy. So much so that they look identical to Thomas wayne and Jor-El
The one I'm looking forward to the most is Absolute Flash, cuz from what I've heard, it's Wally discovering his powers without any other Flash to help him figure it out. It's an interesting concept and I needed an excuse to learn more about Wally anyway, so I'm excited. Also, hard agree on Wonder Woman's design, it's the coolest shit I've ever seen her wear. She looks like a Dark Souls character with her armor and giant Berserk sword. I might just read that for the design alone.
Absolute Batman is probably my favorite out of this universe mostly because it’s the story that I can get into, absolute Superman on the other hand it’s going to take some time to get used to in my opinion, absolute Wonder Woman I am intrigued on how this story is going to go with Wonder Woman which could be cool but we shall see in the long run how it plays out as a whole in the future but that’s just my opinion.
I really hope this doesn’t tie into the main universe, I just want it to be its own series/universe, that can just be a bunch of long running series, without new versions and tie-ins and changes every second.
My biggest issue with these comics is that they're not the same character as we know. These are people who in large parts, are different. And unlike something like Red sun Superman, we will be knowing them for a while. So the only complaint I have, is for myself, having these preconceived notions on how these new characters should be.
Absolute DC is the first ever comics that I'm reading that's coming out as I'm reading them. My main issue with comics is how many there are and it's always a struggle to get into them. I've only read a few like Injustice year 1-5 + 0. And not much else. So having a new series that I can keep up with is very nice.
This is one of the rare few cases where I respect the use of clickbait, because even without prior knowledge. You end up finding out the answer, tis but a hook In case it gets changed later, title was "Does Absolute DC Suck?" I would answer that like many have, but I'd rather let the man himself do it
Abs Batman goes nuts from issue 1 and stays in the “that’s so dumb, but that’s SO COOL” range. Abs Superman has me begging to see how he develops And Abs WW goes hard. I’ve loved her design since it was first revealed and seeing her in action has me dying for me.
Took me a while to realise that was a hilariously-big wind muff on the mic - I first thought it was a censor dot to cover up a phallus-shaped microphone or something lol
Also, it's odd Absolute Batman's defining trait is supposed to be that he's not rich, but there's been nothing about a lack of resources being any sort of problem.
So far I'm loving the Absolute Universe, Batman is definitely a fun read with his knowledge on gotham making sense. I like how Absolute Superman is a bit more grounded in trying to support disadvantageous communities and the fact that unlike a permanent solar battery he's like a phone that needs to be recharged. Meanwhile Wonder Woman is easily one of my favorite variants of her simply due to the design and the incorperation of magic for her character.
I was initially skeptical when I saw Batman's new design and I'm still not a huge fan of that logo that looks like somebody attempting to draw like Frank Miller with their eyes closed, but from everything I've heard about DC Absolute I am seriously tempted to get back into reading superhero comics again.
So far I’ve read the first issues of each of them and I think Absolute Wonder Woman was actually my favorite. I suppose I just enjoyed her relationship with Circe and the intrigue as to why the gods want to punish the Amazons. That said, I enjoyed the first issues of all 3 so I’ll probably continue reading each of them.
Despite the quality of the books, what I wonder is of this will be a long lasting series or fizzle out like the Earth-One comics I love the Earth-One comics, Batman and Superman are interesting takes on the characters, which inspired a lot in "Man of Steel" and "The Batman" respectively and they are neat, although the gritty and realist take is very... 2010s? But what I like about this universe is honestly Wonder Woman and Green Latern. Grant Morrison's Wonder Woman is a giant celebration of Golden Age Wonder Woman and its weirdness, it is a great storyline! And Green Latern? It's so interesting, reframing the Green Latern story as a space horror Sci-Fi story! But that doesn't matter really, because this series just fizzled out and didn't go anywhere. So I am wondering if that's the same fate Absolute will face or not
Had this thought after i read Absolute Superman: Writers have been leaning into metaphors for immigration into his stories for a WHILE now. What if in this book, hes less of an immigrant, and actually more of a refugee, and Krypton didnt blow up literally, but blew into some sort of planetwide civil war.
I love your love for Booster Gold. he has been one of my favorites sense I met him in that one episode of Justice League unlimited. so now I must read All In. and check out the absolute books
I'm absolutely surprised you didn't go on to described Superman's suit and powers, which I think is one of the absolutely godawful Superman characterizations ever.
No, this has been an amazing series, so far, the changes to the characters make them feel like fresh takes on the characters instead of small changes, the people who don't like this series need to get over themselves and stop thinking that these are the main versions of the characters, just like with Spider-Man and Marvel in general with their What if? Line of comics that started decades and decades ago, not everything has to be in Canon, and some of the most fun storylines are the ones that take place in their own continuity, it doesn't have to be mainstream or able to adapt into a movie to make it a good series, get the muck out of your ears before we lose all fun with comic books in general.
Off topic but does anyone know the fantastic four book where Reed builds a Time Machine or something idk? I think they meet Jack Kirby too. It was like a really thick book and I thought it would a good introduction to comics but I’m not sure what it was called
While I like the new ultimate universe at marvel more than the absolute universe, I have enjoyed these books. Wonder woman in particular, I think, is the best of the three.

Absolute Batman has been very good so far!! Superman is interesting but I need more and the Wonder Woman one was a little too much backstory and not enough of Diana being a badass witch in present day, BUT I want to read more so I’d give the first 4 issues I’ve read a total of a 8.5/10
I don't know. I liked the first issues of Wonder Woman and Batman. Hated Superman not for the over the top message but it just didn't feel like Superman. And gave up on Batman when I saw the Batmobile. The title is interesting ive found the absolute universe very interesting
I’m happy it’s doing good back in the days dc tried this with earth one that failed and we got rebooted no more reboots
The batman who lifts 😂
Great video! I hope this doesn’t spin out into 15 titles that are hard to keep up with. It’s so good so far
Since sonic 3 comes out next month have you considered doing a sonic comics video like talking about the comic original heroes and villains or doing shadow the hedgehog s history in comics
Awesome, sir! I'm looking forward to reading these--thanks for the break-down
The Absolute universe is awesome. The Absolute Batman is my favorite.
Still strikes me as odd that both the new Ultimate Marvel & Absolute DC are the result of in universe villains mucking around.
I'll take your word for it that they're good jumping on points; but it still feels weird
I liked Jaime Reyes blue beetle then hated the new 52 then loved rebirth… funny how the new 52 broke the camels back
The only selling point my local shop could come up with was "It's pure badassness," which completely turned me off.
Drake, what is that you're carrying cuz, I know it ain't coffee 😂😂😂
I like the focus on mothers. With Bruce and Clark especially the mothers get ignored in favour of themes of father’s legacy. So much so that they look identical to Thomas wayne and Jor-El
That’s an Absolute Microphone

The one I'm looking forward to the most is Absolute Flash, cuz from what I've heard, it's Wally discovering his powers without any other Flash to help him figure it out. It's an interesting concept and I needed an excuse to learn more about Wally anyway, so I'm excited.
Also, hard agree on Wonder Woman's design, it's the coolest shit I've ever seen her wear. She looks like a Dark Souls character with her armor and giant Berserk sword. I might just read that for the design alone.
Personally, I say no because Absolute Batman is AWESOME
Can you explain why?
Batman is awesome
Everyone in the comments is saying it’s good but I just can’t get past that terrible design. It’s so goofy looking
@@zetenyvarga7428 Batman hit bad guy. *A lot.*
@@Dan_K_Meme It's easy to look past if you read the comic
Absolute Batman is my favorite book in years. Fuck no
8:38 I'll be making this my mantra for the foreseeable future.
All 3 of these are starting very very strong. It's a fresh take, and its great for new readers to start.
"Any headline that ends in a question mark can be answered by the word no."-Betteridge's law of Headlines
You end up finding out the answer, tis but a hook
In case it gets changed later, title was "Does Absolute DC Suck?" I would answer that like many have, but I'd rather let the man himself do it
Abs Batman goes nuts from issue 1 and stays in the “that’s so dumb, but that’s SO COOL” range.
Abs Superman has me begging to see how he develops
And Abs WW goes hard.
This is how those reboots oughta be! Not throwing out the long-lasting continuity alongside it. Now if only the New 52 was smart enough to do that.
Whoa, didn't expect to see my younger self in an ad read!
Oh hey, what are the odds? Thanks for the insight into cards!
@ComicDrake Happy to be of service!
@@ComicDrake Can you make a video about ranking metals in the marvel universe in terms of strength and durability?
@Vibranium_man No
@ComicDrake Ok. Thank you for responding.
Really looking forward to all these stories
Absolutely... NOT!
I love the ball microphone
Snyder's Batman run is what got me into comics as well.
I’ve only read Wonder Woman and Superman so far, (Not the hugest Synder fan and the design made me laugh). But of the two WW was a big winner for me
Personally I’d say it’s been off to a great start. I’m really excited to see where it goes
Absolute has been fantastic so far. Wonder womans design is so badass. My favorite since flashpoint
I was initially skeptical when I saw Batman's new design and I'm still not a huge fan of that logo that looks like somebody attempting to draw like Frank Miller with their eyes closed, but from everything I've heard about DC Absolute I am seriously tempted to get back into reading superhero comics again.
Absolute Comic Drake when?
So far I’ve read the first issues of each of them and I think Absolute Wonder Woman was actually my favorite. I suppose I just enjoyed her relationship with Circe and the intrigue as to why the gods want to punish the Amazons. That said, I enjoyed the first issues of all 3 so I’ll probably continue reading each of them.
Despite the quality of the books, what I wonder is of this will be a long lasting series or fizzle out like the Earth-One comics
I love the Earth-One comics, Batman and Superman are interesting takes on the characters, which inspired a lot in "Man of Steel" and "The Batman" respectively and they are neat, although the gritty and realist take is very...
So I am wondering if that's the same fate Absolute will face or not
I haven't read any of them yet, but I will say this is the first comic in a while to make me interested in Batman.
I’ll give it a try but part of the problem with DC(and industry at large) is the fact that these might end up cancelled and half complete on a year
Ah the Absolute microphone. A perfect choice for this topic
Had this thought after i read Absolute Superman:
Writers have been leaning into metaphors for immigration into his stories for a WHILE now. What if in this book, hes less of an immigrant, and actually more of a refugee, and Krypton didnt blow up literally, but blew into some sort of planetwide civil war.
Haven’t read Batman yet, but I have read Superman and Wonder Woman and they were both really good. Especially Wonder Woman, that book kicked ass.
Seeing stuff leading up to this my outlook was bleak but damn, it’s actually turning out to be really fun.
It could certainly be more distinct from the modern Ultimate Universe, I’ll say that.
I love your love for Booster Gold. he has been one of my favorites sense I met him in that one episode of Justice League unlimited. so now I must read All In. and check out the absolute books
I legitimately thought the mic was censored for some reason 😅
I'm absolutely surprised you didn't go on to described Superman's suit and powers, which I think is one of the absolutely godawful Superman characterizations ever.
It is nice we getting interesting DC stuff as well as Marvel with these new runs.
I was thinking of giving these books a try so im happy to hear this.
Love your content keep up the great work
Batman's cape is clearly inspired by Spawn
Off topic but does anyone know the fantastic four book where Reed builds a Time Machine or something idk? I think they meet Jack Kirby too. It was like a really thick book and I thought it would a good introduction to comics but I’m not sure what it was called
Drake’s mic with the black circle - and this has to have been mentioned before (apologies) - looks like he is censoring something YT doesn’t like. 😂
While I like the new ultimate universe at marvel more than the absolute universe, I have enjoyed these books. Wonder woman in particular, I think, is the best of the three.
I’m absolutely all in on the absolute universe just like how i wish i could be all in on absolute wonder woman
I'm sorry, I can't pay attention to what's on screen when he's holding The Orb^tm
Of the the ABSOLUTE titles, Wonder Woman is my favorite so far
Lot of comments on this video are lacking some reading comprehension
Hey, Drake, been subbed to the channel for a while now. While I don’t have time to watch the video yet, I’m just going off the title. I mean no offense or hostility when I say to stfu and that atleast Batman and WW are off to a good start. I’ll watch the entire video later today when I’m free and apologize if I’m taking what you say out of context. Love you man, congrats on the wedding, continue dropping bangers.
Edit: I finally got time to watch the video; I was wrong. My bad, I apologize.
You could have easily just waited to comment once you had time to watch the video because this comment just leaves egg on your face.
You were that impatient to be a hater?
@@ComicDrake”I wanna apologize. I wasn’t familiar with your game.” -Shaq
Video was great, just finished it now. I agreed with all your points, especially with WW. Already liked and showed a coworker who’s into comics as well. Hope to see you review the upcoming Flash comic in this universe. Once again, sorry if I came off to strong.
we are like two issues in!!!!
THAT SHOTGUN IS A KEL TEC KSG
Are you reading the recent Ultimate Marvel universe
Absolute Batman has been very good so far!! Superman is interesting but I need more and the Wonder Woman one was a little too much backstory and not enough of Diana being a badass witch in present day, BUT I want to read more so I’d give the first 4 issues I’ve read a total of a 8.5/10
I don't know. I liked the first issues of Wonder Woman and Batman. Hated Superman not for the over the top message but it just didn't feel like Superman. And gave up on Batman when I saw the Batmobile. He is a working class guy, that has time to track all the crime, be one step ahead of everyone, manage to make all his tech, be able to turn an actual gun into a Bat beanbag shooter, and heads to the gym five hours a day to get those muscles? No thank you.
So far I've been loving these new books.
This sounds like an absolute good idea or spin on DC comics
The beefy Batman is interesting.
New Wonder woman design is amazing
Superman in Dark Side World is interesting.
I want to pick these up and keep an eye out
