  • This video will go over one of the many benefits in having a working terrier in the Wildlife Control Trade. Having a well trained dog on your team can lead to an uncommon wow factor and high efficiency on the job if utilized correctly! In this video we will show how One Decker Rat Terrier helped my Wildlife Company Find Rats and other urban wildlife in the crawl space of a very nice home. This video helped us identify the rodents in the crawl space and offer the customer options for rodent proofing their home. We can also offer methods to remove the rat the infestation without the use of harmful rat poisoning.
    Hazard is a Decker Rat Terrier bred by Dixie Decker Line Rat Terriers! Check them out on FB!

    Very well done video! Good call, and good call out to use the GoPro footage in the way that you do, which not all has that wow-factor for the client, but also helps build immediate trust and confidence from the client when they see the dog's attention to the area combined with the wildlife evidence shown in the footage. As opposed to someone just going in a crawlspace, coming out and saying "trust me". Love this video! Found it by chance, while playing Rat Terrier videos in the background as I have a rat terrier meself. So thank you for uploading this! Enjoyed it alot.

    Very cool. I've never seen a Decker working. I've had Rat Terriers my entire life and the Decker Giant is the best of the bunch imo. My boy is going on 16 and in great shape. Wonderful doggos.

      It comes in for all rat terriers around the age of 2. The age of 1 to 2 is the teenage years of talk back and I forgot what you told me.

    • @thatsnakeguy2074

      He is! He is maxed out at 26lbs. Many people seem to strive for “huge” weights in deckers but it, at least in my case, makes them much less versatile. 26lbs allows him to still work cramped places like CrawlSpaces and burrows

    Was he easy to train for obedience? I really like the look of these pups and would hate to get one only to have it run away.

      If you have a decker run away you did something very wrong haha. They love to be around you 24/7. Obedience has been a walk in the park with mine.

    • @thatsnakeguy2074
      @thatsnakeguy2074  Рік тому

      @@hetrodoxly1203 that’s far different than what I’ve seen. A decker is pretty standard. Citing outliers can be silly as people BYB crazy examples of most breeds. But to be completely honest with you, being a stranger on the internet, I couldn’t care less to have a pointless dog debate with you as you don’t hold value with me. I have a terrier that flushes rabbits, takes coons, finds and trees squirrels, and makes more money than half the people I know with his skill set. To say he’s not a “real terrier” just comes off as weird attention seeking.

      @@hetrodoxly1203 I posted a video for people to watch at their leisure. You came on my video directly to say I don’t have a real terrier. I don’t need people to always agree, that’s normal, but I don’t have to entertain nonsense from “hetrodoxly 1” on the internet since you still have 0 relevance to our work or our accomplishments.

      @@thatsnakeguy2074 Please post more working vids of your doggo. I have a Decker too. They are fantastic dogs. It's really wild, because mine really have very little interest squirrels or even cats. He's just a pretty chill dog. I know he has a prey drive but I never trained him for hunting. Such a great dog.

    There is not reputable registry that recognizes a DECKER Rat Terrier. Decker in a bloodline NOT a breed of dog. The Decker bloodline and name is owned by Milton Decker. Decker line dogs are registered as Rat Terrier in AKC and in UKC. Larger sized Rat Terriers are out of breed standard but can still be registered with AKC and UKC.

      The decker is mixed with the Basenji African Congo dog. They are hunters. They are also known as a “barkless dog”. The Decker is a more handsome dog that the traditional rat terrier imo. Really cool dog.
