"Major " Hochstetter's collar rank insignia is actually that of a SS-Standartenfuhrer, the equivalent of a full colonel, but his shoulder-boards are correct. Also most Gestapo men wore plain cloths. Although there was a Gestapo uniform it was different from the SS uniform he's wearing.
He was assassinated. He had sensitive information about somebody. I have a sneaky suspicion it was about Nancy Reagan. She was a piece of work when she was young. Think about it.
I have questions aside from the central characters, how are the standings for number of episodes for guest stars, who did the most other parts? actors like Noam Pitlik, dick Wilson, Chet Strarron David ? often a german soldier was supply office for gonkulator. tall very thin fellow with glasses often a background guard, 'O;sem' returns as himself and as other characters, how many of each?
During the pandemic it was possible to find complete episodes of it. I watched a few episodes every night. But then the TV studio shut that down for copyright infringement. So I bought the entire series on DVD.😊

@@mattsprayberry0 Considering Hollywood right now? Yeah forget the reboot. I don't trust any media right now to give Hogan's Heroes the true reboot it deserves, especially since all the original actors can't be casted.
I watched the show every week many years ago when it was prime Time entertainment. The idea of Nazis being in a comedy didn't bother me. Now that I know what Nazis were all about it really bothers me. It's just weird. Comedic characters being Nazis. That must be the most bizarre comedy ever made.
A lot of the actors on the show fought the Nazis, along with most of the crew. That’s why the Nazis are never depicted as competent or effective. It felt acceptable to them because the show actively made fun of the bastards. The Producers did much the same in the same era, it was a whole thing.
It's important not to confuse Germans with Nazis. That would be like assuming all Americans are in the Green Party! My sister is studying History and War Studies, and in one of her books it states that in the Luftwaffe, new pilots were regularly quizzed on whether or not they belonged to the 'Party'; if the answer was yes, that officer's chances of promotion or influence in the ranks were pretty much shot. They didn't want more Nazis getting power. The upper ranks of the military in general did not trust or support Hitler; that's why he had the Gestapo formed to protect himself. Klink and Schultz are just ordinary people trying to survive a war they didn't have anything to do with their crazy leader starting. That's part of the richness of this show; it demonstrates that real wars are fought between real people on both sides. It's not some superhero film between humans and monsters where we get to clearly label 'goodies' and 'baddies'. As Hogan's Heroes frequently demonstrates, plenty of Germans wanted to kill Hitler too; they just didn't want the Allies taking over their country for that to happen. I don't think anyone would.
From Wikipedia: The actors who played the four major German roles-Werner Klemperer (Klink), John Banner (Schultz), Leon Askin (General Burkhalter), and Howard Caine (Major Hochstetter)-were all Jewish. Furthermore, Klemperer, Banner, and Askin had all fled the Nazis during World War II (Caine, whose birth name was Cohen, was an American). Further, Robert Clary, a French Jew who played LeBeau, spent three years in a concentration camp (with an identity tattoo from the camp on his arm, "A-5714"); his parents and other family members were killed there. Likewise, Banner had been held in a (pre-war) concentration camp and his family was killed during the war. Askin was also in a pre-war French internment camp and his parents were killed at Treblinka. Other Jewish actors, including Harold Gould and Harold J. Stone, made multiple appearances playing German generals. So basically the whole show was made to mock the nazis, portraying them as arrogant, stupid, corrupt, and often cowardly people. It also differentiated between Germans who resisted the nazis, who were scared and did nothing, and the actual nazis.
Love this Awesome show love all the Cast and Crew RIP
I watch this show religiously before bed each week night.
Some scenes are just better than others, this one had me rolling.

Gestapo/Kripo men who held SS rank wore the SD uniform.
Hey man enough with that commie bullshit
It’s a comedy, not a documentary.
Welp.... now I can’t watch this anymore.🥺
Fantastic and if my Aunt had a dick she'd be my Uncle. It's a fucking sitcom from the 60's and they're all dead now

Rest In Peace Bob Crane a great actor I hope Justice will be served one day soon. his murderer is a coward 🙏💛🙏💯

Pretty sure his murderer is dead.
Ummm. He slept with dudes wife. There's only so many wives you can sleep with before you get shot. that's life.
Since his murder was in all likelihood John Carpenter, that’s going to be a bit tough.

That line gets me every time.
Hogan was a natural at finding and exploiting weaknesses in his enemies. He never missed a beat.
One of the show's most classic lines.
The best comedy series America as ever produced
Bob crane would have made a good Hawkeye pierce
Some of the people who worked on Hogan’s Heroes later worked on MASH. I am convinced Alan Alda was told to act like Bob Crane.
If he hadn't been murdered in his sleep he might have gotten the role.
He would do good. But no one could replace Alan Alda as Hawkeye.
Neither show had much of a connection with reality.

Is it me or did Schultz accidentally address Hogan as General?
Mark Andrew yes he did - uuups😂
I keep on reviewing it. It sounds like Kolonelhogan. Well, it's General. 😆
After listening to it 3 times and slowing it down a bit it was a John Banner Col.
Gernal Hogan.
Sounds like colonel hogan to me
In the pilot episode, Sgt Carter was Lt Carter.
Awesome !
Surprised Hochstetter didn’t ask, “What is this man doing here?”
