Thank you Elvis Lewis, Jr for uploading these sermons by the late Evangelist S. E. Mitchell, who happens to have been my 16 year old nephew's grandfather. The message presented here is a timely one. The WORD made flesh is made plain. The Gospel preached by Elder Mitchell is spoken well & with zealous urgency. Certainly, the WORD of GOD is forever timeless & very well suited for times like these. Thank you again. May the LORD ever bless & keep you.
This man was some kind of special...power! He had the Bible in his head, I didn’t see him flipping pages; the word was hidden in his heart...and that ‘sha ta ta ta ta ta’ does something to me...
Preach (Dad) Rev saw this ship wreck the church is in now, coming back then when he was alive. Look @ the church now Its A Pity & A Shame...This message he is preaching on this video is just as relevant for today as it was back then...Dad Cried Loud and Spared not. And was a bold solider for the lord...he preached true holiness no matter whether you liked it or not.... I'll Always Love and Respect (Dad Elder S.E Mitchell) Sleep on Dad you ran well...I will never forget the many revivals you gave here in my city..I never missed a one....You cant find preacher's hardly noways to stand flat foot and preach the truth like the Great Dad Elder S.E Mitchell did.I'm..glad I got to serve under his ministry..& will never for forget his teachings!!!....Rest In Peace you ran well Man of God!!l and I plan to see you again on that great getting up morning when all the saints get together...Glory!!! Glory!!! Glory!!!(I;m getting happy now) tatatatata!!!! Thank U God for letting this Gospel Giant touch mine and so many others lives.
Oh how I praise God for the message and the messager! I heard Elder Mitchell preach many times over 40 years ago. He would be in revival at the presiding Bishop J. O. Patterson's church, Pentecostal Temple in Memphis, TN. He was definitely an annointed man of God who preached on a higher echelon. You seldom hear preaching like this today. May God bless your natural and spiritual family. Rest in peace.
I remember going to the Convocation in Memphis and hearing the preaching like that! What great memories these clips have brought back! THANKS FOR POSTING them. See you in St. Louis in November 2010.
yes mitchell ya lord hope is love and peace cometh in the way of my prayer but i saints just pray pra pray lord lord a little in the times of trouble as my time seens hard cause victory is mys lorde yes r.i.p Evangelist s.e. mitchell.
Oh what MEMORIES of the Nat'l Evangelist Convention in Saint Louis MO @ Williams Temple COGIC...Bishop JO Patterson..Elder SE Mitchell..Elder Albert Pass..Madam Emily Brahm..Pop LC Page-what a POWERHOUSE team!! Elder SE Mitchell 'told it like it t'was and did not spare ANYONE did he-my Lord!!
This man is preaching "Pure Holiness." He was telling it like it is; look at the COGIC today. It is a shame what they have done to this once great Church Of God In Christ Sanctuary. But, it is not just this church, here me; it is most so-called Holiness Churches. Bishop Herman L. Murray's Church in Dallas, TX is the exception. I pray for Pastor Murray's church daily. Satan has flipped most of the churches, yet people have convinced themselves that they are still in the Holiness way. Listen to Elder S.E. Mitchell. Does he trouble you? If so, you'd better go back to the altar! The rudeness in this segment of the convocation is beyond the pale, i.e., people walking around, talking to one another, etc. I wonder how many are walking today. This was a giant among preachers, and the lack of respect shown to this anointed Preacher is beyond words. However, give them a "Preacher Who Performs," and they are blissful. Church, it is going to take Preachers like this, if you can find them, who will bring a smattering of folk back to God. Elder Mitchell's words still have God's power to save!
God bless you! I agree with your statement. However, pointing out one church that is perfect seems to be incorrect....Not trying to be mean/hateful....I have been in church all my life as you may have too but allllllllllllll churches have their flaws....and yes preachers like this one is hard to find...we all are working out our salvation with fear and trembling. Have a blessed Christmas!
eldergunter80 God Bless You Too! I understand what you have conveyed and the spirit that it was given. Do not be afraid to give your opinion, with the caveat, "I am not trying to.." You do not have the power to hurt anyone with your words, except a baby, who lacks the ability to process information correctly. If someone is hurt by what you say, this speaks to what is going on inside of them, more than one's perceived ability to hurt, make happy, etc. I understand that we live in a politically correct society, but that doesn't include me. Yes, I am born again, sanctified, and filled with the Lord's precious Holy Ghost, with the evidence of speaking in other tongues. You are correct, I was wrong in highlighting only one church that I feel is still asking for, "The Old Paths." However, Pastor Murray's is the only church I have watched on the Internet, that I have any faith in. Yes, there are a plethora of churches posted on the Internet, but like you, I have been around Holiness all of my life; and as a consequent, I know Holiness when I see it. While it is true that "All" churches have flaws, we are called to be "Perfect." I fear looking at churches this way, with flaws, is an easy out for some to continue doing wrong. We have more preachers/churches than at any other time in the history of America. Yet, the majority of churches are, "Lost." Why is that? It is because of what I believe to be an invasion/acceptance of "The World" into the church. I must respectfully disagree, we are not ,"All Working Out Our Soul Salvation In Fear In Trembling." Were that the case, we would not be having this conversation. Would to God that the Church would wake up, and Preachers started preaching, "Christ Crucified" again. Thank you for your comment, and may the Lord Bless You and Your Family This Christmas and Next Year!
June Lewis Thanks for receiving the spirit in which I replied to your post. I hope you all have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year as well. Some churches do use flaws as an excuse to continue to do wrong. The pastors can only preach and teach...they cannot follow each and every member around seeing if they are holy in the streets. God is the judge and we are individually instructed to live up to the Word of God. I still believe they are some holy saints in flaw filled churches....Someone has to hold up the standard and there will always be a remnant. If ppl want to continue to do wrong, doesn't the Word say let them? live holy...let them (paraphrasing). We are not called to perfect, rather striving to perfection but we are called to be holy even as God is holy. God bless you and I appreciate this conversation very much without any anger....You know ppl can't discuss things anymore w/o arguing, so I appreciate you very much!
I am so for holiness. I really believe it is the only way, but some of their standards are just ridiculous. No makeup, no pants, no movies, no false teeth, no dye in your hair, only Gospel music. I just feel that is very restrictive. Some of that fits with the cultural times of what it represented, but some of that stuff is just ancient. I think you have to have balance.
This is the holiness preaching not this junk that is being preached now. And this is how I preach today at Faith Deliverance Holiness Temple Cogic we’re I am the pastor and founder
Reminds me of Johnny Moore and his lineage. It, also reminds me of my Grandpa! Love his preaching, I am used to this kind of preaching. He was speaking good until he started talking about makeup. Some people need a little makeup! But, otherwise he did a good job.
This kind of preaching is needed to day
Elvis Lewis thank you for sharing these soul stirring messages of one of the greatest evangelist of the COGIC👏🏽🙌🏽

Yes, I do know some of this has changed, but in some churches most of it has not.
He was just telling the truth and when he got around to the bishop, they tried to cut him off. You cant shut up GOD!!!!!
Isn't that Bishop Haynes with the Tux?
preach!! give a little leeway and they run with it!
He's calling everybody out, from the lowest pew sitter to highest ranking bishop. Wow...
The cogic is in a mess... ordaining missionary, elders and bishops with two living wives, sugar coating the truth... we need to remain holy
C'mon Mitchell!
Kmcaj87, that’s not a tux. It is a black suit with a bow tie. That was the style then.
