Part 1: COGIC Altar Service/ Praise Break on Official Sunday during the 1980 Holy Convocation

- Altar service led my Bishop J.O. Patterson and Bishop H.J. Bell. Dear God...help us get back to the old landmark! Why did we stop having Altar service like this?
Now this is the Church of God In Christ that I grew up in!!!! We had Altar Service not just altar call. We worked with souls until the demons came out, healing and deliverance!!!!
My Lord this is Sound of Pentecost, send it on down once again over our Grand Ole Church
People dont fear God like they use to!! Everything now is instant an instant generation. But to God be the Glory!! People were more as one back than; than now!! But, bless God some of us got something to hold on to!!! Praise him!!! Go head and Bless God in the Name of Jesus!!!! YYYYEEESSSS Suh!! Be Blessed!!!

We are coming back home next year in 2021. I never been to the convocation before but I have watched it on television.
Thank God for Church of God In Christ.there still altar call like this. There nothing new under the sun at P.T. COGIC we still praise God like this
This down memory lane. This is my late Pastor,Bishop Patteterson there. He taught us how to worship praise. His Grandson. Bishop C.H.M.Patterson have the same touch and gift. Because the Holy Ghost is still fall. We still have fast DAY,Tuesday & Firday. Lord let Spirits fall fresh on your peoples. Act 2:4. Let Church.say Amen. Isaiah 61:1- 11. Matthew 16:19. God Be Glory! Believe....

It's unfortunate to hear ppl from the same organization argue about things that are so trivial! Certainly God can move WHENEVER & HOWEVER he pleases! He'll move in your heart if you let him! Great footage!

What happened to this COGIC?
It would help a great deal if someone would post the entire video. Right before Bishop Patterson took the podium to preach, Mother Kelly suffered some sort of minor attack in the service. Mother Bell sang "Life's Railway to Heaven". Bishop Patterson took the podium, and began to assume a more eulogistic tone by way of quaint anecdote, just at that moment, Bishop O.M. Kelly stepped up to the right side of the Presiding Bishop, and whispered in his ear. Bishop Patterson immediately announced, "I've just received word that Mother Kelly is alright". The convocation erupted in relief and open applause. Bishop Patterson then seemingly "shifted gears" to a sermon more aligned towards blessing and praise thus leading to the altar call for "spirit-infilling" which explains how the Official Day service turned out the way it did. You need to see the entire video to understand that particular altar call.

Lets go back to the old landmark, now a days the convocation seems like a place to shocase your hat or dress. I'll take the annointing anyday.
i'm not shocked but suprised that the meetings aren't this sanctified anymore i visited bishop Haynes' convocation at saintsvillle and after he preached like crazy he was working the altar with his elders and it was just like this -praising all into the morning- i figured the national church was stil the same

@whatuwatchingjoe Are you asking when it became official? You can find find pictures of COGIC ministers and prelates wearing the clerical collar as far back as the 1930s or earlier.

MrTheOneAndOnly83 i live in Memphis and since the convocation left Memphis aint the same. I love to be at Mason Temple the first few days praying.

@henryhar Because the move to St. Louis isn't because of spiritual reasons; it's because of practical reasons. If some of the saints would spend as much time praying for the convocation in St. Louis instead of complaining about how it's not in Memphis, we would REALLY see a move a God in November.
@henryhar Looks like the Lord didn't have a problem with Holy Convocation in St. Louis, as He showed up in a mighty and powerful way. He's much less hung up on geographical locales than we are!!!

The Holy Ghost is not constrained to a physical location. I sincerely hope it's not being implied that convocation can't be like this just because the church is meeting in St. Louis instead of Memphis? It could very well be that this geographical change will signify a spiritual change! Pray that the Lord would have His way in St. Louis!
