@ yea because we can’t blame them, ownership doesn’t want to spend the money. Being a small market some players are obviously out of reach but when you have someone like Willy that meant so much to the team and fans you really wish they would shell out for him.
A previous version of this video had me & my tired brain refer to Tyler Fitzgerald... as *former NHL player Tyler Kennedy*. Yeah... I can't explain where my head was at there, either. 😬 Nonetheless, what got cut out of this video: is how adding Adames makes CERTAIN that Chapman stays at 3B (he was willing to discuss changing positions) and that you get Fitzgerald locked in at 2B. Also a pretty sweet left side of the infield for SF. Basically, this one move helps figure out most of your infield.
even worse... i almost ALWAYS double check & rewatch my videos before release... just let this one go becuase I was trying to get to bed... and thankfully caught some of the comments before letting it stew overnight. yikes! at least you know i'm human now.
Its fine Brodie honestly As a Giants fan I found it pretty funny calling tyler Fitzgerald Tyler Kennedy. Honestly though brody thought that was a blooper and just rolled with it and still watched the whole video in it's original state
Figured eventually the Giants were going to hit one of these big contracts after missing on Judge and Correa. First saw him with the Rays in 2018 and he has been getting better every single season since. Both the Rays and Brewers are going to miss him.
Huge news! Never thought it would happen. While I love the signing, Adames does go from the sixth best hitter's park, to the 30th ranked one, according to one metric. I do believe he may only hit 25 HR's here, but might well hit 40 plus doubles and drive in runs.
@@ldo1308 I have seen different park ratings and Seattle is definitely among the worst. Giants only hit 65 HR's at home last year. The Mariners hit 87.
Hey Brodie your buddy Jersey Ken. Congrats to the Giants for signing Willy Adames. Great SS! I was hoping he would sign with my Phillies oh well. Did you feel the earthquake? I hope you and your family are ok. Take care!
Adames' career avg is .248 and about 20 HR a year. Seems like a lot of money for that production.....but yeah, it'll be fun to see him and Chapman on the left side.
Other than Adames and the Giants, the happiest person is the free agent infielder from the Padres--the demand for him goes up, as does his potential salary
Leo Durocher once said, "Nobody ever won a pennant without a star shortstop." In 1940, Pee Wee Reese replaced Leo Durocher as the Dodgers regular shortstop. After decades of frustration and losing for the Dodgers, Reese led the club to a World Series championship in 1955. My point is just what Leo Durocher said, teams just do not win a world championship without being strong up the middle, especially at shortstop.
As far as position players go, this was the highest priority. The only possible position that might need some help is 1B since I don't think Eldritch should be called up barring a lot of injuries. Pitching needs the help now and keeping an eye on everyone to see what needs attention next.
So Farhan signed Correa to a 13/$350mm deal. Posey’s first move is signing a better player to half the Correa deal. Yep Farhan was not good at his job.
Adames played in 161 games last season and at least 140 in his tenure with the Brewers. He is durable. His skills diminished at SS a bit. But he can slug it.
giants need pitching they let rodon go and a cyoung pitcher to the blue jays. they need to sign more than one player. corea was a joke he is a broken down player they would have been stuck with a 10 year contract with a nothing player. the doctors saved them .
Conforto wasn’t supposed to be that guy. Chapman maybe but I think most of us expected him to be a 25 guy. Which we’re good with. I think Willy will be about the same.

@@kevinb3307 yeah add more ??!!! that will make your argument convincing. Oh and try repeating names I already said. Yes Jung Hoo Lee the guy who is a 280-300 hitter with 30-40 bags. Every foreign rookie needs time to acclimate. As for Fitz, he hit 280 as a rookie. And you didn’t watch much but of the 15 HRs he hit, 7 were in SF. So you’re sounding more and more like an idiot. And as for Jerar he’s barrelling up balls all over the field for us, hitting as hard as Chapman who had one of the most consistent and highest average exit velo in all of baseball.
Brodie, what are your thoughts on the Giants looking at Trevor Bauer. He currently has a you tube channel and his stuff looks nasty. He would not command a lot of $$ and I think he could be the #2 guy behind web.
Call me a pessimist, but it seems like every time the Giants score a big name, that person, for the first time in their career spends a good part of the season on the IL. I hope I'm wrong.
I hope this isn’t a situation where we get hosed for overpaying a guy who’s around a .250 average and 20 hrs for his career. Sure he’s nice defensively but he’s coming from a hitters park to a pitchers park.
The power could be a bonus for Willy's game and that he's actually an RBI machine which can play well at Oracle. SF is all about quality defence and pitching, that's our game. Power is bonus
Yeah, though I prefer this style of deal making...underpromising and overdelivering...rather than showcasing everyone who is being courted only to be used to gain equal or higher salaries elsewhere...no need to mention any names.
Contracts like these are one of the reasons that I stopped caring about baseball. They just make no financial sense to me, and I refuse to pay the prices needed to make up for them.
Ok. Seriously. This conversation is really old about no one hitting 30 HR's since Bonds. Our park is the hardest to hit HR's in baseball. Unless the baseball becomes some super aerodynamic beast and stops caring about the extreme drag on fly balls. A hitter will need to be able to hit AT LEAST 40 HR's elsewhere to hit MAYBE 30 HR's for the Giants. Oracle Park is THAT oppressive. Adamas will MAYBE hit 25 HR's for us AT BEST.
This contract for 29 yr old for 7 yrs? This is too long. He’s not playing SS for 7 yrs. He might play SS for 3 yrs then what. It’s not a good contract because of the length.
He'll play SS for at least 5 years of the 7. Being 34 isn't that old. He'll have to prepare his body more intentionally, but it's possible. I like the deal. It's all about stability and the Giants need that to compete in the West
Adames couldn't get it done against the Dodgers while with the Rays and Brewers....in fact he was the last strike out in the 2020 World Series....in his career he only hits .204 against the Dodgers and only 4 homers.

is the possibility of Ha Seong Kim playing 2nd for the Giants a pipe dream at this point? Or Goldschmitt keeping 1st base warm for Eldridge?

They could still use an Ace to pair with Webb and a 1st baseman/Dh then they could be on the right track.
1st baseman will probably be rising star Bryce Eldridge and DH most likely Heliot Ramos. If they get another ace it’ll go a long way!
