For a guy who owns a welder, you do very good welds !! 👌👌👍👍 Looks like a really slick conversion kit. Nice work so far. This looks like an interesting project. Be safe and stay well.
Iam ok at it sometimes, I don’t do it enough to really improve my skills. The cab went well, the bed mounts are a little more tedious. Thanks for watching
I used to think that it was best to keep the original frame and modify it but seeing this it seems a whole lot better. Modern suspension, brakes, steering etc...
After messing with this one I understand how this is so popular. Only down side I see is the track width is narrower on the S10 but that can be managed in several ways.
I know Code 504 is out of business but for the cost, does your kit come with just cab mounts or does it come with the step mounts, bed mounts and bumper mounts? I imagine I will see as I watch farther on in your project. Thanks
I feel like the cab structural elements might be important and would rather cut slots in the replaceable body bushings to fit the cab than cut the original cab to fit the body bushings. Plus rubber should be easier to cut and can be cut standing up.
You will have to cut down a extended cab chassis since it’s 123”. when and if I do the 53 I bought I’ll use a long bed 118” chassis. Fudging 1” with the bed is easier than cutting a squaring a chassis but on the other hand if I had a 123” S10 chassis sitting here 🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️. If I was shopping for one I’d look for the long bed. Thanks for watching, hopefully the videos were helpful.
@@LeftForDeadGarage that makes perfect sense thank you for doing a how to with this kit I was thinking of of trying to set the cab back .5-1 inch to make up for fudging the 1 inch on the bed placement let me know how you feel about that
@matthewmontoya7639 you welcome, Iam happy to hear it’s been useful for some folks. I wouldn’t move the cab but what I would do the next time it replace the spring perches on the axle. You can get spring perches from Barnes4wd “ (Or similar companies) that have three spring pin choices. Centered, 1” back and 1” forward. I have used them many times on 4wd truck builds. I know Barnes has perches for the small 10 bolt 2.750 dia axle tube.
@russellhuston1566 any year will work, long bed reg cab is a must though. I have a short quick 6th video I’ll add about how I’ll make up for the 1” difference in the wheel base and not fudge it with the bed. Thanks for watching
😂😂😂. I’ll get it in the shop… eventually. I did just buy some more goodies for it so it’s not been forgotten but it’s loong loong past due on being in the shop.
Hello, I have a 55 first series Chevy, I am watching your videos and I want to do this project on my truck My question is: what year of CHEVY S10 did you use for this project? The original distance between wheels or center of wheel axles is 116 inches?
Any year s10 will work as but it has to be a reg cab long bed 118” wheel base. The 47-55 trucks are 116. So you can either fudge the bed placement or use a Barnes4wd spring perch and move the rearend forward. If I ever do another that’s the route that I’ll go just so I don’t have the extra inch of bed gap.
Thanks. I feel like Iam really struggling with everything though. Camera placement, audio, speaking up, getting to the point, looking at the camera and equipment issues.
Russ is an absolute legend! His knowledge and willingness to help is unmatched!
He was quick to help in a few situations.

Man I have a 51 chevy 5 window that I want to put on the s10 chassis i have for it ..just looking at your videos helps alot
Iam glad these are helpful, thanks for watching and if you have any more questions please feel free to ask. I’ll try to answer the best I can.

I like to make that clear lol

cool video, you seem to get all the fun projects,
Wish I had a massive shop so I could pack in more fun projects.
Great project. I feel like everyone wants to do this.
Quick way to a more modern suspension, I’d never thought long bed s10’s would have become a hot commodity.

Comes with everything you’ll need.

Looks pretty straightforward once you have the frame stripped down
So far so good, started messing with the bed mounting more yesterday so that will be next up.
So after doing this conversion would you recommend using an extended cab instead of using a long bed truck

Hey what’s the part number on the body mount bushings, thanks
Iam pretty sure this is the set he bought. Energy Suspension 3.4130G
Nice ..Thanks for posting.. Best Regards

I did not know there was a kit for that….cool
Just give me your 55 since it's not going to ever get worked on. Lol. I have one of those chassis' here for a future project. Cool project truck.

Do you know if he has a pre 47 kit available?
Best I know it’s just the 47-54.5 trucks. He’s on Facebook, search RussDparts I’d hate to tell you wrong. Thanks for watching
@@LeftForDeadGarage I just googled him. He has a 46 posted on his page. fingers crossed.
Good luck
We mounted a 52 gmc on a 05 1500 Chevrolet running gear

Which kind of frame did you use ?
Long bed
Love it
We’re u fin those Mount brakes
The master and booster will be frame mounted like they were on the 49 chassis. The firewall will stay clean.
