Thanks for posting. I just got a 3d printed Lee wrench from Etsy. It doesn't fit. So I ordered this set from Big Dog. I recently got a Redding T7 and getting a regular wrench on a die when the turret is full is a pain compared to the single stage.
@@FClassJohn Also costly I bought two new wrenches. I also bought one of those ebay wrenches. Mine wound up in the same place. Keep up the great videos.
I've often wondered about the potential for changing the die depth by a few thou by inadvertently varying the torque applied to a die in a press. I guess if there is a difference, this would be an advantage to the Forster Co-Ax.
Dear F-Class John, Please consider evaluating this wrench on your 419 turret press and any progressive press that you use. My specific problem was with the “Lee” version locking nut wrench. Product evaluation is a very tough task when considering all the devices it may be used on. Maybe the lesson here is that evaluations should be done only when you can be sure that the vast majority of applications are covered. A learning experience for sure. No bad feeling on my end! Keep on doing your thing, I love your UA-cam content.
Because I use the Zero Press I favor their ring BUT on any other press I’m a big fan of the Forster rings. Lightweight and good clamping force plus large surface area. The Hornady are a close second.
The beauty of the hornady rings is that a standard crescent wrench or a narrow jaw crescent wrench works without the need for special tools. That lee wrench looks great!… the silly little plastic tool thingy that lee ships with their rings is ridiculously useless, especially with their rings that have the rubber o-ring. The plastic tool does not provide enough torque to fully compress the o-ring. The only thing missing here is a link to a vendor with a discount code!
F-Class John, Update: Ryan of BDS contacted me this morning. He is modifying the software file and will make a new batch of “Lee” compatible wrenches then have them anodized. He estimated 2-3 weeks lead time, then he will send me a replacement wrench. Great customer service!!!!
Hi “The Tallest”, Sorry you have not experienced the customer service that I have received. Honestly, I can not explain the discrepancy. Perhaps it is a communication problem relative the details of your product experience. I encourage you to make contact again, maybe there was a misunderstanding?
The replacement wrench was estimated to take 2 to 3 weeks lead time. So about 2 weeks from now. I will try to share my experience after I receive it and provide some dimensional information.
Hi “The Tallest”, I owe you an update that I promised you earlier, sorry for my delay. Well, communication with Big Dog Steel has been great with Ryan B.. The delivery of action has been very disappointing however. On 01/31/22 he stated that a free altered replacement would be available in 2 - 3 weeks. That did not happen. So I sent an email on 02/28/22 asking for a status and he stated very soon. Today is 03/19/22 and I have not received the replacement wrench.he has stated that his supply chain weakness is his anodizing vendor. I continue to hope “BDS” will honor their commitment to me, unfortunately that has not been realized on my end yet. Disappointed.
I wish someone made an open ended wrench that was intentionally designed to fit in tight spaces like my Dillon 750. It’s not like they need to be overly stiff. The closed end versions often fail to fit over the die preventing its use.
I don't have any problems with them. Plenty of guys I know use them and don't have issues. Aside from a very small amount of time with a Rock Chucker I've never used any of them.
I just received the Lee compatible wrench Friday 01-28-22. I can make it work but the outside diameter interferes with the two adjacent die locking nuts. Sorry, this platform does not allow for a photograph. My press is a Lyman T-Mag turret design from around 1987. The wrench, in my case, can only engage the nut teeth towards the O.D. Of the turret. I can make it work but disappointed. I just sent an email to BDS to suggest a 0.020” reduction of the wrench outside profile. Their manufacturing process appears to be hard tooled via a shearing press operation, costly to change. Hope I’m wrong. Be careful using this wrench for turret or progressive presses! Make sure the angular distance between die mounting center lines are spaced enough to allow full engagement of this wrench.
Thank you, though I don’t understand your involvement with BDS. I have already sent them an email to their “Sales” email address on their business card included in my shipment package. So please explain your involvement in my concern with BDS.
@@ericabig3471 I don’t really have any involvement other than I just thought I would send along your concern to them not knowing if anything else had occurred. They are a good company and they care about the customer so I just wanted them to know that there was a problem. Other than that I have no other interest in the company.
Thanks John! I think this is an innocent product problem with no liability on any party. For me, this simply a customer problem feedback that is common. During my Mechanical Engineering career of approximately 37 years (now retired for 6 years) I would have loved this type of feedback, unfortunately there are sales and marketing filters that sometimes prevent that communication feedback to the engineers!!!! No worries, I know how hard it is to evaluate a product when dealing with a wide depth of product use. Thanks John for your great video content!!!

I love the Hornady lock rings and have to use an large adjustable wrench every time. That tool would be great!
Thanks F-Class John,
I understand the login issue.
Thanks for the video I need to buy some asap
Nice wrench. I use the plastic wrench that can with my Lee. But might to to upgrade. Good information.
Unless you're using a single stage press this wrench will be useless to you. It won't work on Lee turret or progressive presses.
@@TheYTSucks I use a Dillon 550 and the wrench works. Not the easiest to use, but it was free.

If you had to pick one lock-ring for all your dies, which one would it be?

Thank you and I agree. As for a link, it's in the description but sadly no promo code was given to me or I would've gladly shared it.
Where did you purchase the die adaptors for the app

Does the Hornady wrench fit Forster rings?
No.
