- You're in line, and you see a pair of reading glasses that might be in your prescription but you're not sure of it yet. You're kinda iffy about them, but still decide to buy them because your vision up-close has worsened and you need a quick pair of reading glasses. But... how do you know they're good for you?

I agree! It’s so important to get an annual eye exam! Not just buying readers at your local pharmacies
I got a pair of random reading glasses from a pharmacy. My eyes have never felt this relaxed and text looked so sharp at a close distance. Makes me want to read every night.
I know why they call them cheaters - haha.
Wonderful! We reiterate the importance of a yearly eye exam to make sure the the overall health of your eyes (both inside and outside) are doing well.
With my recent eye exam, I’m now +2.50 in left eye and +3.00 in right eye. Kind of high for a 54 year old. The doc told me that a pair of +2.50 OTC will do me just fine. But I have a prescription pair for short distances because I think once you cross the threshold of +2.00 or higher, you no longer have 20/20 vision for short distances of your eyesight is otherwise fine.
Yes. Should always get an eye exam to wear the proper prescription. Agree.
Thanks for explaining the importance of the eye exam and why readers sometimes don't work for everyone.
Great info! So insightful!
Hello, it's safe to use reading glass without eye checkups although you're hard to read in the far direction.thanks
Thanks sm this really helped me
Wonderful! That's why we are here! Glad we could help.
Can I order specs from you or do I need to your patient? I tried to go online and “shop” but it kept prompting me to book an appointment. I’m in Hawaii.
Thank you so much for wanting to shop with us. Our practice only offers in person services. If you're in Chicago, come see us. To find an eye doctor near you, go here: www.aoa.org/healthy-eyes/find-a-doctor?sso=y
Safe, plus lenses. Wise choice.
My eyes are normal but can I use the reading glasses for reducing strain on eyes
Yes, however, make sure you wear the correct power for your eyes. Ask your eyecare professional which power is the best to get. Keep in mind that if you have different prescription needs in each eye, you may want to custom make your readers to only wear the prescription you need.
Good to know. Sometimes going for the cheap its not good.
True That!
After wearing Walmart reading glasses for many years, I went to the eye doctors, got prescription glasses spending $$200. I hate the new glasses and went back to my $12 ones.
Oh no! I would go back to Walmart Optical and let them know you don't feel comfortable wearing/using them. Sometimes, the new glasses may need adjusting on your face because when they took the measurements, the nose pads were moved to insert the new prescription lenses. They sit differently on your face and just need a minor adjustment. Or, maybe they prescribed progressive lenses? These special glasses need a sit down training to understand how to use them, sometimes they need an adjusting period to get used to. My recommendation is to go back to the optical and let them know you're not happy. Call Walmart customer service if they can't help you at the optical department. The most important thing is to wear the correct prescription in both eyes. Sometimes readers achieve this if your eyes have the same prescription. Otherwise, it's best to wear the proper prescription in both eyes. I love my progressives because I wear them all day, all the time and I don't have to take my glasses on and off to read.
Yes! We reiterate to go back to Walmart and explain you do not feel comfortable. Ideally, you want to wear the correct prescription for both eyes and not over the counter readers if your prescription is different in each eye. We wish you luck!
im white, do these glasses work for me?
Of course! Not sure what would make you think you can't. You can go ahead and find frames that fit your needs at your local optical 😁
My eyesight is clear but should I wear reading glasses
If you have difficulty reading small letters close up, we recommend visiting you local eye care provider to make sure you use the correct prescription for both eyes like we mention in the video.

Where can I buy glasses that you mentioned? I really taught you were Asian, but when you said Latinos ☺️
Hi there!! Yes! In a community that is not very diverse, we try to cater and be inclusive towards those who seem to be overlooked in the optical industry! And you can find these glasses by asking your local optical!
