    Extremely great informational video. Thank you for taking the time to show the amount of oil the ski should take from the manual. That answered many of my questions.

    Good video.
    I have a suggestion when refilling the oil. Just put back in the exact same amount that you pump out rather than filling to the full mark or specifically 2.3 quarts.
    On that engine the oil level should be checked only when the engine is hot, after at least 30 minutes of running. Having the oil level on the full mark when sitting cold could be overfilled.
    When overfilled that engine is prone to sending oil back into the air filter housing. Causing the paper element to saturate and break down and sending pieces into the intake.
    Have fun riding this Summer!

      You make a very good point. Thanks for dropping in some great information. My dad repaired the front fiberglass structure and the customer wanted the oil change done as well. If I remember the manual correctly, it stated two different amounts for the oil fill. One was if the whole system (engine block and all) was drained fill with X.XX quarts. If just the reservoir was done to fill as noted in the video. That video was the last I saw of the watercraft. When it comes to water, give me m SCUBA gear and I'm happy. Not a huge boat/jet ski fan so I personally am no profession at all. I go by what the local shops direct or manuals. Thanks again for taking the time to drop in some great information. Have a great day!!

    Traditional oil filter wrenches proved useless. Finally used a standard channel lock and it worked like a charm.

      Mine is on tight as hell. I will try this or pick up a Locking Oil Filter wrench from harbor frieght.

    Just an fyi if you want to save yourself some stress trying to squeeze your arms in that little hole, just unscrew the band clamps on either side of the muffler and pull it out of the way. I ended up using channel locks to get the old filter off, however mine has been severely neglected.

    Good video, did u find a fuel filter ?? Or is there only a tank strainer ?

  • @MDHenry4
    @MDHenry4 7 років тому +3

    It would have been nice if Yamaha placed the filter under the reservoir. Do not over fill 2.3 better under than over. The overfill Drains to the air box. Can't breathe if you are drowning in oil...

      Thats true! I'm not a big water sports fan unless its scuba diving. So, I really don't get into jet skis much. I called the local Yamaha dealer and used the recommendations they suggested.

    Just Picked up 2 of these exact watercrafts for a small sum. These will be the first jet skis I've ever owned. So now im looking up any information i can find on these particular ones. And My question, the screw on cap with the red hose. Is this where you would hook the waterhose up for testing?

      I'd suggest contacting your local Yamaha dealer. We had that jet ski long enough to repair the hull and do an oil change. I really don't know much about them.

      You welcome, that filter is buried waaay down deep! No sorry I dont have a video for that. You can call a dealership service department, if they have a halfway nice personality, they will usually point you in the right direction.

    My vx 1100 ski is bogging down and only goes about 20mph and the stream of water that shoots out of the back loading platform is not spraying a stream but more like a flower shape, any suggestions are appreciated

      Sound like you have something stuck in the outlet.

    • @OptixLive98
      @OptixLive98 6 років тому +1

      You ran it in shallow water. The pump intake is clogged. Probably killed the impeller also. Debris is stuck in the rooster tail water tube. Get a flashlight and take a look

    • @gregemerson7648
      @gregemerson7648 2 роки тому +2

      That sounds like it's cavitating does it vibrate really strongly.... definitely something stuck in the intake in that case. if you do Drive in shallow water it may have really affected the impeller but that would take some time.

    was the motor warm when you suctioned the oil out?

    • @Poweraddicts
      @Poweraddicts  8 років тому

      +Steven O No it wasnt. I don't think that it would have made a huge difference in this case. With car and motorcycle engines gravity drains the oil out when you pull the plug. So, with the engine being warmed up, the oil is thinner, thinner oil drains more efficiently and complete. In the case of suctioning the oil from the tank, I don't think it would have made a significant difference. We would have had to hook up a water supply to prevent engine damage from over heating. So, we opted not to warm it up risking damage. BTW, this was also the recommendation of a local motorcycle shop that services JetSkis. Thanks for dropping in! Hope this helps. Have a great day!!

    Hey! I don’t know if anyone will still look at this video, but we have a problem with our 2006 vx cruiser 110… we decided to change the oil on it, and sucked out all of the oil, until there was none in the tank (cold). We decided to turn it on for a bit, so it pushes up a bit more oil, but it didn’t and it obviously stopped, because there was no oil left in it. We filled oil back until it was at the low and the full section between, but the ski wouldn’t start after anymore. (After the oil change) we checked, and there is spark, there is fuel incoming and everything is good, we just don’t know what is the problem. Anyone with some ideas?

    • @liveandletlive2894
      @liveandletlive2894 2 роки тому

      You severely damaged your motor by running it with no oil in it. In absolutely no situation ever can you run a motor dry with no oil. Every second it ran was catastrophic!

    I have a1100 Yamaha 1996.When I start it the engine races

    • @Poweraddicts
      @Poweraddicts  6 років тому

      Sounds to me like the throttle cable is sticking. Push the throttle while watching the other end under the seat. It should return to it closed position otherwise engine RPMs will race high. I don't work on jetskis very often so I'm not that fluent with their mechanics. If its not the cable sticking, contact the nearest dealer to ask them. Thanks for checking outh the video.Good luck. Have a great day!!

    Why does he call it a "Jet-Ski" when it's a Yamaha Waverunner? Jet-Skis are
    made by Kawasaki. Otherwise, good instructions.
