Hey bro. On a lateral filing cabinet are there slides you can use to make one drawer legal papers and the rest regular? And could you use it for a locking dresser? I have a daughter who steals and I am disabled.

Most laterals now a days are adjustable for both letter and legal. The bars to hang folders you can move them to file both. Filing is almost always side to side with a lateral instead of front to back.

When filing inside a lateral file cabinet is there any way to convert it into a vertical file cabinet so you have 2 vertical sections per drawer?
Yes you can. Online you can buy smaller bars that you can set up to file front to back. Not sure the name of those bars but they do exist
