As a neutral (I'm a Barnsley fan) I feel there is something special about Villa Park. It's a beautiful traditional stadium. I hope Villa do big things again but I actually hope they don't change their stadium. Spanking new state of the art stadia are amazing but these soulful old grounds are disappearing fast. I suppose one day it will go - every building has a lifespan - but I hope it doesn't vanish in my lifetime. It's a beautiful old thing.
BLIMEY, THE STANDARDS ARE VERY HIGH NOW. THE LAST TIME I VISITED THE STAND, TO WATCH A MATCH, WAS 1953, AS A KID. DOWN THE FRONT, BY THE LOW WALL, WITH A STEEL RAILING ON TOP, , WE COULD ONLY SEE THE PLAYER'S FROM THE KNEES UP, WHEN ON THE FAR SIDE OF THE PITCH, SO CURVED WAS THE GROUND CENTER, FOR RAIN DRAINAGE. STILL THE SAME I GUESS.
