My ranking of each season: 1. Season 2 (the perfect combination of the structure of season 1 and the more exciting stories of seasons 3, 4 and 5) 2. Season 4 (great structure, its not as good as seasons 1 and 2’s structure, and amazing stories) 3. Season 3 (great stories. The structure in this season is decent but it isnt as good as 1, 2 and 4’s structure) 4. Season 5 (amazing stories. The thing i do not like in season 5 is the lack of structure. In a way season 5 is kinda an backwards season 1 if you think about it. Season 5 had exciting stories with no structure and season 1 had stories ranging from amazing to ok with the best structure any season has ever had.) 5. Jack and the pack (i love the pack. But some of the stories. Feel kinda forced and feels like HIT really was involved sometimes (season 6 and 7 have this too but worse) 6. Season 1 (best structure the show has ever had. Period. The episodes range from amazing to ok. Season 1 really feels like a movie when you binge it and i love it. Season 2 also has this but has more exciting and better stories imo.) 7. Season 7 (new characters range from amazing to alright. This season feels like its truly a finale to the classic series especially with the gordon and thomas arcs. It feels like they’ve come such a long way since season 1 and i love that) 8. Season 6 (boring. Its so boring that i cant remember anything other than the new characters. The pack is really cool, salty and elizabeth are amazing and absolutely made the season and harvey was… eh?)
They're just so... Nothing feeling. Not every story has to be some exciting event, but even after watching them multiple times I still cannot recall what the story of any of them was meant to be
I see everyone else doing their ranking in the comments, so I guess I’ll go! 1. Series 2 2. Series 4 3. Series 5 4. Series 3 5. Series 1 6. Series 7 7. Series 6
I appreciate putting season 2 as your favourite season of Thomas the Tank Engine cause it is a good season and one of my favourites, however I don’t appreciate season 3 been your least favourite and season 5 been ranked high which I will explain now. Season 5 is my least favourite (from the first five seasons) and season 3 is my favourite because I enjoyed a lot of the episodes and it is nostalgic for me
My nicknames for every classic season: S1: The season where start everythink S2: Branchline season S3: Black sheep of the classic series S4: Narrow gauge engines season S5: Worldbuilding season S6: The only season where I don't have a nickname S7: Stock footage season
My ranking: 5. Season 3 is also my least favourite classic season which I think is the one that most divides fans into camps who really love it and think it's the best, if not one of the best because of the comeback which began the Golden era of classic Thomas and the new aesthetic which I can understand to a certain degree and then others who find it just good, not a bad season but with a lot of OK to mediocre episodes that are not easy to overlook and weigh the season down compared to the ones that came before and after it. My opinion would be positive to mixed. Half the original stories taken from Andrew Brenner with the exception of "All At Sea" (which was actually the first Allcroft original) I find to be the absolute best of this series with my favourite being "Henry's Forest" and Henry is my favourite Thomas character. Yet the other half of non-Awdry material is what I think most brings this series down with "Percy, James and the Fruitful Day" being my least favourite episode of all the classic series just on par with the mediocrity of Seasons 6 and 7. The Christmas original episode is also my least favourite of the winter-themed ones which end the series. The Awdry stories I would say range the most between good and OK except for my 3 favourite ones being "Escape" the outstanding one, "Tender Engines' is one of my favourite adaptations despite it deviating a lot from its original source and "Bulgy" which is an extremely good episode for moral teaching about liars. 4. Season 1 I used to think as one of my favourite seasons based on nostalgia but the more I got into Thomas as an adult the more I started to like other seasons like its direct sequel which won me over eventually though it took some time because I really do love the series' intro and I think it might even be the most underrated among fans. The first 7 episodes will always mark me in a special way because I had them on a VHS tape but it does get more action-packed and exciting like a good book or movie once you watch it from start to finish, it only just gets better after this. 3. Season 2 has in my opinion the second best unique aesthetic pertaining to a certain season which emulates that deep industrial grittiness as well as having some of the best stories, new characters and overall just improves on everything Season 1 did on an objective level disregarding nostalgia as I barely saw any episodes as a kid from this season though I did read several stories from Awdry's collection book and they hit more of a chord as I revisited them as an adult. 2. Season 4 is my favourite season on an aesthetic level. It is the most beautiful season as well as having the best array of completely new characters on a completely different part of the Railway but I actually really enjoy the other half of the Standard Gauge, especially the Stepney stories even though they are mostly told in random order because they are all make-up episodes which didn't make it in the previous seasons but are all adapted the most faithfully possible to the books even more than in Season 3 with very few changes so they feel like Season 1 and 2 episodes in that sense just with a better budget and production. 1. Season 5 will always be my favourite for virtually everything it has going for outside of having its own visual aesthetic because the tone changes constantly and it's the only non-Awdry season of the classic series where every episode is an original story by the TV series' creators so it changes drastically from the previous seasons but Season 4 might be the closest it gets to only for its sheer brilliance in props, narration and characters. It also just so happened to be the season I most watched as a kid on various videos in various households so that also impacts my ranking as n°1 aside from it being the best in almost everything which made it practically be its own movie but with shuffled stories instead of one consistent narrative but I don't mind that at all as long as they're great and entertaining.
Ok sorry for being a jackass and this comment being out of topic but if you don't consider Seasons 6 & 7 to be apart of the Classic Series then personally I don't consider Ghostbusters: Afterlife to be apart of the Original Series because that movie CAN GO SCREW ITSELF OFF AND JUMP OFF OF A CLIFF FOR BEING A PIECE OF CRAP MOVIE.
@@joshuaW5621 Yeah exactly. However for some reason ever since All Engines Go was announced Britt Allcroft considered the first 5 Seasons as Classics. Probably because she had no involvement on Seasons 6 & 7.
@@victorgaminglounge3967 she actually did have involvement in seasons 6 and 7, just to a lesser extent. For some reason some fans interpret it as her leaving the series after Magic Railroad.

2:04 Time for Trouble was actually written by Awdry, just with a bunch of alterations
If you look closely you’ll notice almost every shot of Season 2 is shaking, it gets really distracting
Huh that's something I've never noticed before. Series 2 already has very mobile camera angles, I guess this takes it to another level!
