- Did nobody on Voyager run simulations on the shields? Not once? Not a single "You know what, maybe we should test this first. Stick a probe through it maybe. After all, there's no rush. We can just tell them to open the Star Portal another time."

You can help fund more of this foolishness by visiting / usspedant and tossing a few coins my way. Cheers!
Today's Thought Experiment: If MiniBots can be replicated (albeit with difficulty), why are they so valuable?
Replicator Liscences
They cost an arm and a leg to get the necessary permits to make minibots
Maybe it's the programming already present in "living" minibots. Sort of how you can replicate an entire human body but it won't be "alive".
The Borg have assimilated the copyright and enough lawyers to become legal owner of said copyright by assimilation.
Maybe they can't be replicated by a replicator, but they replicate themselves like most nanobots in sci-fi do
Its also technically possible to replicate root beer, but you still go to Quark's
Tom and Be'lanna finally have everything they wanted out of life and it does not require getting home.
Harry on the other hand has gone from willing to risk death to return from an alternate dimension where he was safe and sound on earth, to risking his life to get home at every opportunity. Whatever he found in the Delta quadrant has long since lost its luster for him and he is ready to give up on it and start from 0 back on earth.
It shouldn't be surprising to see Torres joining Paris in hazing Harry. She's done it before. Heck, in season 1, she and Seska were laughing at Harry falling out of a gondola on a holodeck date. I believe Paris was involved in that as well. It's a very natural fit in my eyes for her to join Paris in such behavior at this stage of their relationship.
A Barclay episode nice.
That's not Barclay
You forgot the "actually"! ;) @@alexneff
"Innoculations, yin. Shields modifications, yang."
One sentence that I liked and one I had noticed you didnt mention:
"We already considered that possibility" when discussion the 2 stars wormhole.
Firstly its a good way to avoid plothole.
Secondly, it implies that they had already considered other possibilities.

Thats a very heart warming still of seven, endearing to her heart.
Your musings about Seven as anti-borg messiah are actually pretty thought provoking, especially in light of Picard. Spoilers for both shows below.
So, I think the whole thing with XBs being looked down on, even in the Federation, has to do with the 'failure' of a resolution, Re: the Borg. Sure, Voyager came home, and dealt the collective a crippling blow they still haven't recovered from over a quarter century later, but there are still plenty of current drones, and the XBs themselves are hunted down like elephants for ivory (something we see foreshadowed in this episode), requiring protection. And so few XBs seem to have made it back from the Delta Quadrant (which, considering the number Voyager does to their infrastructure in Endgame, is understandable. Then there's the fact that you don't *truly* know that your XB friend/family/colleague won't 'reactivate' again. And even if they don't, they're not the same person as you knew before. I mean, almost nobody is the same person they were even a day before, but that's a normal and expected kind of change, whereas being an XB gives unexpected changes. There was also no actual resolution of the conflict with the Borg, which only serves to heighten the problems I mentioned.
TL;DR:, Seven does serve as a symbol of hope, but she also serves as an icon of unease, and unresolved trauma, both individual and societal.
The usual "the guy who is right 99% of the time is ignored by his superiors despite how many times he's been right" story. But at least Admiral Paris is smart enough & finally Troi has more backbone than she ever had in TNG.
I like Barclay in spite of myself lol
Thanks for another great review 💚🌹💚
I like your point about Seven being seen as someone who could bring hope to people who've lost their loved ones to the Borg. If we get a new show with her, it would be neat to see that explored or otherwise weaved into her back story of issues with Starfleet.
I always just thought the Federation just wanted seven as a weapon.
Yay! Another episode with the blinky thingy!
One thing I never understood about this episode is why didn't they fill up a Saber class escort woth a bunch of supplies and torpedoes and send it to resupply Voyager and give them a second ship to have an escort ship.
Sure the portal will kill organic stuff, but it will allow tech through as the Ferangi plan hinged on it.
I think it still was during the dominion war
Based on your previous reviews, I'm surprised you didn't note how quickly the Doc became technology again. I don't recall crew interacting with him while he is 'locked' in sickbay.
I love Murdoch Muppet episodes. As someone on the spectrum who fucking SUCKS at social interactions that don't happen through a screen, I understand him a lot. I love that he's allowed to be weird and uncomfortable and still important and valuable and cared about.
Enjoyed the Alan Smithee reference.
To be honest for the next series i'd like to see deep space 9 or enterprise
I'm sure I've said it before, but I always found that when Troi wasn't in TNG, she was actually competent.
When she put on a uniform her IQ and skill set doubled at the very least.
Yes, its been a while since ive seen an upload within 10 minutes of upload
Imagine how much money a Titanic lifeboat would be worth today... Those Ferengi profited massively from this ordeal.

Thats an effen awesome shot of seven. Her eyes portray daggers coming at you at the speed of light.
Ok yes im crushing. Oh well.
Maybe someday do Farscape episodes if you can?
❤
He needs to review all the shows.
Doing a test run before risking the entire crew? That's not the Trek way!
Wait, the MYST array? 😱
Hey Unlimited Lives what will you do when you finish with Voyager go on to do DS9 or Enterprise just wondering ???
He could review whatever, and I'd be here for it.
@@dougsmith6262 I agree .
murdoc and troi. always a great double act
Mr. Broccoli
For the next show which show is leading ?
Mr Broccoli.
Yes it is weird Space Dog But what can you do? :D This episode just didn't work for me. I think I would have preferred it to be almost entirely from Barclay's side. For some reason, no comms are getting through to or from Voyager, but all the diagnostics report all is okay. he and the team investigate, find something is intercepting the signal. That leads to the "Someone is spying on us" thing.
By this point, he is not seen as the crackpot that has to be handled, so none of the "It's only Barclay going crazy again" trope. However whatever is happening is something that only a few people could do, thus you get the finger of suspicion on him and a few others. So then you get the whole, investigation with him and Troi.
I found your channel about a week ago when looking for a clip of Tuvix. This video's four days old and the end skit says a week left to vote if I join, does it? What timing!
Fortuitous indeed. The poll closes in a little over 30 hours... though if I'm honest DS9's lead is pretty strong at this point so your vote may not have a significant impact on the results. That probably isn't the thing to say to somebody talking about joining your Patreon, but here we are. Pretending otherwise feels feels a bit dirty.
Every now and then Star Trek will show some contempt for the audience with messages such as "stop being awkward and get laid, nerd".
Really bizarre.
I ❤ Murdock.
I sure do like Broccoli!
If you need break from trek there is a lot of stargate out there. I am looking forward to TNG tho.
I usually skip the Reg episodes tbh
These aren't real dogs. They don't bark.
