Brian I came back to this video.. I really love some of your older stuff before you had made riding and doing what you love your "job" . And now watching your stuff you have become so much faster. I am still supporting with patreon and will continue .. I believe in you and what you do and try to ride as often as I can .. keep it up .. loving redemption 17 too
Interesting, nothing like that "flow" or i like to call it zen state. Ill have to make it out there one day from the east coast where our singletrack is pretty rocky. Thanks for sharing.
haha welcome to yellowjacket...er I mean Oregon country. 2016 was a particularly rowdy year for them too! Your video definitely exemplifies PNW(and OROR)riding. The climbing is seemingly never over and the wayfinding is always a fun challenge. Glad you liked ATCA. Enjoyed the video!
Cool - Too bad you had the yellow jacket come after you on the ride. Good rental ride. Hot springs in town to soak before and after ride. Good Day David
Holy crap! That forest and trail look absolutely perfect. The Ibis looked like it performed like a champ, too. Looking forward to the bike review. Epic!
Alpine is always a good ride. Being only 45 minutes from there is always a treat. Come see us at Alsea Falls for fun technical then flowy trails of goodness! Great channel you have here!
Awesome video. Ive done Alpine but not ATCA. Now on my must do. Check out Ape Canyon in the Mt St Helen Volcano monument. Another awesome ride with out of this world views. Falls Creek nearby Ape Canyon supposed to be great also.
I started riding in Oakridge back in the early 90s... always made a fall trip down to Oakridge from Portland - but fall colors are really not that great - except for the lower middle fork trail - probably best fall colors in the area always seen lots of hunters down there perfect fall day... riding an Oakridge trail - and then watching the Ducks at the pizza place in town (college football, for those of you who don't know) camping out - then going up to Waldo Lake area for a Sunday ride so many big trees -- classic northwest forest only way to beat it might be to do a little fly fishing as well, or at least some flatwater kayaking on some of the mountain lakes
I have always loved this trail. Let me know if you ever stop in Southern Oregon. Ashland, Wagner and MOTR (Rogue River) and Grants Pass (Jedi, Cathedral Hills)
Watching another nice video of yours when i realized i really do not like the loud hubs anymore. I think you had one with the intense tracer maybe and one couldnt hear any sound coming from the bike. That was a fantastic experience. The thumbs up at the end made me laugh so hard! ;) Be safe, looking forward to the next episode!
I was angry the day I rode the ATCA, in fact before I finished the clover patch tie in I was cursing the mountain. I swear to god the uphill switchbacks were never going to stop. It's a miracle I wasn't cramping!
When you're done with your little adventure, you should do a video where you rate the trails you rode from best to worst. That way we know where we should head for our own adventure!
Damn, we are planning a move to Oregon next year, however I cannot decide between 3 areas, Portland (work... I'm a Android software engineer).... Or Bend,... (Dry but still forest) Or elsewhere in the Interstate corridor....(Mediterranean climate with possible winter riding? ) I like the idea of riding year round... where can I do this? I don't care about water if it drains well and ppl are ok with MTB in wet, I fear Oakridge and Bend may be too snowed in during winter? What is it like there?... (watching your vids on it. Lived all over US from Michigan to Arizona, California, Texas and Illinois. Mostly in capital city or near in each,.... but it's the Pacific Northwest that calls to me! Then onto Vancouver, Canada in 5yrs. I can't wait! See a theme?
I know you already ordered your new bike but Intense just announced the release of the Recluse all mountain bike, looks like a perfect compromise between the spider and tracer. You should check it out!
Rode this trail after seeing this when visiting family in Oregon a few weeks ago, (I'm a defense contractor living in Djibouti, Africa). Picked up the Bronson from Willamette Merchantile, they asked me about how I heard about this place, told them it was from BKXC!
Great video! I've lived in oakridge for my whole life and sadly am just getting in to mtb it's cool to see all the love oakridge gets! Looking at getting the yt jeffsy but I need to figure out 27 or 29er I would love to buy at the mercantile but my budget says NO!
That is a nice trail... And there is nothing better than do the whole ride that is the epic part of mountain biking... You should check Tiger mountain in Washington state and then the other one is Galbraith in Washington as well... There some other places like the San Juan island, anacortes, forks, Olympic peninsula, or if you want to go to another state I will pick Idaho there is a trail that have hot springs along the way...
Another great trail review, looks like a trail I would like to ride Really interested in your option of the Mojo 3 I tested one and think it will be my next bike
Wow fantastic vid as always. Have you thought about putting your riding/bike gear in the description beside just the video gear stuff. I know I'd like to see how you prepare for certain rides. Keep up the great work man!
Definitely a good idea! Once I get the video about the bike up I'll link it. And once I get my OWN bike I'll get a link to it as well! Thanks for the suggestion.
I noticed you rented the Mojo3, which is mostly a long-travel 27.5+ bike, but watching your video, it looks with all that climbing, and mostly flowly singletrack, if someone might be better off with something with less travel, and weight, like the Ripley 29er. Thoughts?
holy shit Brian good thing your not allergic to bee stings. Reminds me of a day riding my motorcycle to work one day had my helmet visor up and a honey bee went right inside my helmet and sting me on the side of my head lol.
Looks like an amazing trail, i live in Ks and have nothing like that for at least 8 hrs to the west. Hopefully you will post some more footage from the ride. Were you riding that one alone ?
hey BK, that's what I meant the other time. what happened to you at 7:58 when looking for the trail. but I have to admit it's kinda cool benefitting from someone else getting. so keep it up and your channel will grow just by getting lost for others. 😆😁😆😁 L.O.L. cheers
Telling you the other day my daughter got a concussion at Whistler a couple weeks ago. Yesterday she broke a bone in her elbow. A line will be the death of her. I know you where there earlier, did you do the Park?
Just an FYI. They way you ride this is not the way that the locals do and is a lot more work and a lot less fun. ATCA starts at Kate's Cut-in and goes left at the Alpine Trail connector. Your first climb in your video is actually the reverse of the "Chrome Toilet" route. Nobody ever climbs from the bottom of FS 1912 to to very end of the Alpine trail. To ride the "Chrome Toilet" route in the proper direction you start at Kate's and turn right at the Alpine intersection. You then climb for about a mile on rocky single track until you hit the road and then the trail is directly to your right. You descend a glorious single track trail to FS RD 1912 and then climb that road back to Kate's where you then climb the short single track connector back to Alpine and take a left to do the rest of the ATCA ride. This adds about 1500 feet and another 7 miles or so to the ATCA route that you see on trailforks or mtb project.
Awesome looking trail! How do you keep the video so steady with all the bumps? Does the gimbal help with bumpy trails? My videos are way too shaky to watch because of the bumpy terrain here in AZ.
BK - I'm visiting this area next month (I live in GA) and am planning to hit this trail. I'll be solo as well and am worried about wildlife. Did you bring bear spray or anything of the sort? Not sure if bear spray works for mountain lions...
Yeah, I wouldn't mind some long videos. Maybe you could do a normal length video, then a long "director's cut" or something for the hard core viewers (like me!).
Nice work dude, I feel your pain on this ride! I missed the Tire Mountain turn and my ride turned into a 32 mile 5800 feet of climbing on a speci enduro 29er 1x 30t. what ride was more soul crushing, the ATCA or comfortably numb at Whistler?
Hahaha always a god damn battle! You know I think ATCA was harder because of the wrong turn. But then Comfortably Numb didn't have amazing long downhills
This trail looks amazing. I am planning a trip to the area in late October and enjoyed watching your videos to give me an idea of what I want to try and ride while in Oregon. Did you ride the Mckenzie river trail while you were there? Or anything in the Bend area?
I rode both trails this summer, the Mckenzie river trail has a lot of hikers on it and at times feels more like a hiking trail than bike trail. However it is a very scenic ride and has some fun sections of trail in it. In Oakridge I would recommend the Alpine trail over the ATCA, unless you want to get your ass kicked! Didn't make it to bend, but I would highly recommend you go to Oakridge instead of Mckenzie river trail.
Thank you for your advice. It's starting to look like I am going to be hitting Fruita/Moab as my biking destination. I live in Jackson WY so this is an easy drive for me. Second time riding Fruita. I have been to Moab several times, but haven't ever biked there so it will be fun. Looking forward to The Whole Enchilada and Kokapeli trails as my main rides. May still hit Oregon since I have 3 weeks off work.
how do those grips feel? btw I dunno if it matter lol but I was the asked you about your east coast trip. I asked where in the east coast you guys going
I don't even own a mountain bike and I can't stop watching your videos lol. Since I'm commenting I need your help because hopefully soon I'll get one. Just moved to Reno and I pretty much want to do the riding you do but someone who doesn't have the most experience idk which direction to go on travel and HA. I'm assuming 67 is the sweet spot? I'm also looking hard at the trance 3. Budget 2500 at most, any advice would be super helpful! Thanks man!
Awesome, glad to get you fired up! Holy crap, I really didn't know what you meant by HA or 67 until I thought about it for a second. That's how you know you're asking the wrong guy! The Tracer and the Bronson have been the two favorite bikes I've ridden, they both are longer travel and not the lightest bikes, but I don't want to be underpowered on the descents. No idea what head angle they're running! Get on some bikes, do some demos and feel it out!
Gage Parks if you are still looking the canyon spectral al 6.0 is an awesome bike and the direct sale model gives you awesome value for money. That's at the top of your price point but they also make the 5.0 which is well within your price point. It's a 150 front 140 rear travel bike.
I heard a rumor the new GoPro will have gps built in, so that could be cool! I do have maps of my ride in the description, though, if you just mean Strava.
"Bruce Prator glad you liked it, There are 8 more trails like it. most easier some much harder. Bucnchgrass being the hardest 27 miles with over 8000 ft of descending and 3000 ft of climbing with a shuttle. , I've done it 3 times in 15 years."
HOLY MOLY this trail looks AAAAMAZING 🚴🏾👍🏼
Best ride ever!
It is amazing
I'm strangely addicted to your videos, keep em coming !
Thanks man! Glad you're enjoying them.
Brian I came back to this video.. I really love some of your older stuff before you had made riding and doing what you love your "job" . And now watching your stuff you have become so much faster. I am still supporting with patreon and will continue .. I believe in you and what you do and try to ride as often as I can .. keep it up .. loving redemption 17 too
Thanks so much Carl!! It's truly appreciated.
Looks like a great ride thru beautiful Oregon, especially with all the descending. Thanks for sharing.
Best ride ever! Thanks for watching.
Its definitely a bucket-list trail for me right next to Downieville. What made it your best ride?
Really fun, challenging descents for days. I only get into that "flow" state a few times on a normal ride, but this was a TON of flow.
Interesting, nothing like that "flow" or i like to call it zen state. Ill have to make it out there one day from the east coast where our singletrack is pretty rocky. Thanks for sharing.
And I've gotta get out to the rocky East Coast!
I think that was probably my favorite ride video that you've done so far. nice work!
Awesome! It was probably the best mountain bike ride I've ever done!
What an amazing ride! Definitely need to make a trip to the West coast to ride all these trails in your videos...they're so flowy and dry.
It's worth the trip, man!
haha welcome to yellowjacket...er I mean Oregon country. 2016 was a particularly rowdy year for them too! Your video definitely exemplifies PNW(and OROR)riding. The climbing is seemingly never over and the wayfinding is always a fun challenge. Glad you liked ATCA. Enjoyed the video!
Awesome, glad you enjoyed it!
The sound of the tires skidding on the trail is so bad ass cool!
Haha, yeah buddy
Cool - Too bad you had the yellow jacket come after you on the ride. Good rental ride. Hot springs in town to soak before and after ride. Good Day David
Holy crap! That forest and trail look absolutely perfect. The Ibis looked like it performed like a champ, too. Looking forward to the bike review. Epic!
It was absolutely amazing! Bike video on friday.
👍 for doing both the ups and downs. The reward of a good climb is a great descent.
You find out what you're made of on the climbs!
If that’s a size large, I probably rented that same bike about a month later. Such a great ride!
Alpine is always a good ride. Being only 45 minutes from there is always a treat. Come see us at Alsea Falls for fun technical then flowy trails of goodness! Great channel you have here!
Thanks dude!
the days that I can't ride, I watch these videos and they get me by. thanks for sharing
I'm your local MTB crack dealer!
Oakridge is so magical!
Wow.... Oakridge was on my MTB bucket list before. But now... It just got moved up! Awesome!
Nice! Glad I could nudge you in the right direction!
Awesome video! You bring a really positive and fun energy to each one, plus those trails look AMAZING!
Thanks man! It was a great one!
Awesome video. Ive done Alpine but not ATCA. Now on my must do. Check out Ape Canyon in the Mt St Helen Volcano monument. Another awesome ride with out of this world views. Falls Creek nearby Ape Canyon supposed to be great also.
Awesome, thanks for the suggestions!
love the videos man great riding it makes the work day go by a little better until I can get to my next adventure keep it up
Awesome, glad you're enjoying them!
Great video - Amazing ride! Look forward to the bike review.
Thanks man! I'll have it up on Friday!
Been to that trail a few times and the fall line on the way to the covered bridge is epic! I think thats the fastest Ive ever gone on two wheels.
Yeah, that thing is nuts!
This looks like such an awesome trail!
So great!
I started riding in Oakridge back in the early 90s...
always made a fall trip down to Oakridge from Portland - but fall colors are really not that great - except for the lower middle fork trail - probably best fall colors in the area
always seen lots of hunters down there
perfect fall day... riding an Oakridge trail - and then watching the Ducks at the pizza place in town (college football, for those of you who don't know)
camping out - then going up to Waldo Lake area for a Sunday ride
so many big trees -- classic northwest forest
only way to beat it might be to do a little fly fishing as well, or at least some flatwater kayaking on some of the mountain lakes
That's awesome!
You're trails are the best!)
This channel is the best!
Thanks so much, man!
I have always loved this trail. Let me know if you ever stop in Southern Oregon. Ashland, Wagner and MOTR (Rogue River) and Grants Pass (Jedi, Cathedral Hills)
Gotta get there!! Those are all on the list
Watching another nice video of yours when i realized i really do not like the loud hubs anymore. I think you had one with the intense tracer maybe and one couldnt hear any sound coming from the bike. That was a fantastic experience.
The thumbs up at the end made me laugh so hard! ;)
Be safe, looking forward to the next episode!
Yep, the Tracer was silent and I really liked that as well. Definitely need to keep that in mind for the videos. Thanks man!
Man I have to say you should do a mtn bike stand up comedy channel you are too funny. Your battle with insects is real 🤣👊 🐝
Wow! Great Oregon trail. Definitely a pain & pleasure ride! Glad you survived, maybe the yellow jackets wanted some honey stingers. Lol keep it up!
The forest was angry that day, my friend!
I was angry the day I rode the ATCA, in fact before I finished the clover patch tie in I was cursing the mountain. I swear to god the uphill switchbacks were never going to stop. It's a miracle I wasn't cramping!
Hahaha brutality
Amazing trail on an amazing bike. I'm so jealous.
Thanks Mike, it was a great day!
When you're done with your little adventure, you should do a video where you rate the trails you rode from best to worst. That way we know where we should head for our own adventure!
Good call!
Damn, we are planning a move to Oregon next year, however I cannot decide between 3 areas, Portland (work... I'm a Android software engineer)....
Or Bend,... (Dry but still forest)
Or elsewhere in the Interstate corridor....(Mediterranean climate with possible winter riding? )
I like the idea of riding year round... where can I do this?
Definitely! I loved the Tracer and the Spider, so a hybrid of the two sounds friggin' amazing!
Love Oakridge, some of the best trails
we have here in the
great state of Oregon......
So nice!
You should make another channel with your full unedited rides
He now has a Patreon with exactly that. Full vids and more!
Rode this trail after seeing this when visiting family in Oregon a few weeks ago, (I'm a defense contractor living in Djibouti, Africa). Picked up the Bronson from Willamette Merchantile, they asked me about how I heard about this place, told them it was from BKXC!
That's awesome Brent!! I bet they got a kick out of it too.
Great video! I've lived in oakridge for my whole life and sadly am just getting in to mtb it's cool to see all the love oakridge gets! Looking at getting the yt jeffsy but I need to figure out 27 or 29er I would love to buy at the mercantile but my budget says NO!
Fantastic! It's such an awesome sport.
That is a nice trail... And there is nothing better than do the whole ride that is the epic part of mountain biking... There some other places like the San Juan island, anacortes, forks, Olympic peninsula, or if you want to go to another state I will pick Idaho there is a trail that have hot springs along the way...
Awesome, man! I love always the trail recommendations.
Another great trail review, looks like a trail I would like to ride
Really interested in your option of the Mojo 3
I tested one and think it will be my next bike
Thanks man, it's a great trail! I'll have my test ride video up Friday for you to check out.
90 sounds like it would be hot for that area. It isn’t that far from Eugene, and it rains a bunch there.
You should come to sandy ridge the next time your in oregon!!! It is such a gem of a ride.
Nice! I'll look it up
Awesome ride .. I really enjoy what you are doing on your channel .. keep it up
Thanks Carl, I love doing this stuff!
Dude, ever since you put this out I've wanted to do this ride! Top 3 on the bucket list!
Do it!! it's a nice one
So impressed with your vids! Excellent job. I envy you.

Thanks Steve, I appreciate it!
Thanks for making the video! it really helps with mtb trip planning.
Glad to hear that!
I noticed you rented the Mojo3, which is mostly a long-travel 27.5+ bike, but watching your video, it looks with all that climbing, and mostly flowly singletrack, if someone might be better off with something with less travel, and weight, like the Ripley 29er. Thoughts?
Finally on the Ibis! Fixing to buy one myself.
Yup! 3 days of riding on Ibis this trip! Mojo 3 video on Friday and the look out for the RIpley and Mojo HD videos later.
That was an mini epic ride bro! cool stuff
Haha, nothing mini about it!!

It was pretty great, hitting Alpine again tomorrow. Couldn't resist!
+BK-XC enjoy buddy!
Trail looks amazing. Envious over here
It was fantastico!
that deep in the woods BK, you are being watched.
love the ride.
Haha yep
holy shit Brian good thing your not allergic to bee stings. Reminds me of a day riding my motorcycle to work one day had my helmet visor up and a honey bee went right inside my helmet and sting me on the side of my head lol.
Go to Copper Harbor In Michigan. I've never been on the trail myself but, I hear it sounds fun! (1st on the top 5 trails in Michigan.)
Yeah man! I keep hearing about that one.
you should do it for your next video!
Make sure you get out to Larison rock tr, you won't be dissapointed!!
Dang, I'm going to miss it on this trip!
Nice work!
😁👍
Looks like an amazing trail, i live in Ks and have nothing like that for at least 8 hrs to the west. Hopefully you will post some more footage from the ride. Were you riding that one alone ?
Yep, did that one alone. It was really amazing. I may go back and ride just Alpine again on Thursday. We'll see!
Wow killer trail! Hard work but it looked fun!
You nailed it, man. HARD work and tons of fun.
hey BK, that's what I meant the other time. what happened to you at 7:58 when looking for the trail. but I have to admit it's kinda cool benefitting from someone else getting. so keep it up and your channel will grow just by getting lost for others. 😆😁😆😁
L.O.L.
cheers
Exactly, doing the hard work for you guys! :D
got the fam all sitting down watching this on the tv!
Hahaha that's awesome! Tell 'em I said "FUDGE" at 8:19
+BK-XC you can say whatever you want after that epic ride! keep it up. 😲👍👍👍🤘💪
Hahaha, thanks brother!
awesome, I live In cottage grove oregon and just got into mountain biking, this is only 30 minutes from home.
It's a great one to try when you've got your fitness up!
Crawfish is super fun! and 10 minutes away?
That looked like a lot of fun. Stings ok?
Tons of fun! Yep, stings are fine, just itchy.
Telling you the other day my daughter got a concussion at Whistler a couple weeks ago. Yesterday she broke a bone in her elbow. A line will be the death of her. I know you where there earlier, did you do the Park?
Haha, damn! I did ride the park but I don't jump. I did the technical trails and just went slow on the jumps. SAFETY FIRST
Well done. That's a great ride! It used to just be ATC. Did you make it to the Brewer's Union?
Thanks man! I ate lunch there today and got the steak frites, good stuff!
looking forward to that mojo 3 review
Be on the look out tomorrow morning (if you're in the US)
Just an FYI. They way you ride this is not the way that the locals do and is a lot more work and a lot less fun. ATCA starts at Kate's Cut-in and goes left at the Alpine Trail connector. Met you at Stormy Saddle man. Nice videos! Im based in Mt Shasta CA if you want to come ride sometime let me know!
Hey dude! Thanks so much!
I laughed my arse off at " AHH Fucky, aww SHIT!"
Haha!
Done that trail twice. A good calorie burner.
Awesome looking trail! How do you keep the video so steady with all the bumps? Does the gimbal help with bumpy trails? My videos are way too shaky to watch because of the bumpy terrain here in AZ.
Thanks man! The gimbal helps a ton even on bumpy terrain. I have a link in the description to my video gear if you want more details.
Nice video and trails. What Gopro is this and what gimbal are you using?
Bring you bee suit, Hah!That's funny man. Great video.
Haha thanks man
w00t!!! new vid! thanks bossman!
Haha, no problemo!
BK - I'm visiting this area next month (I live in GA) and am planning to hit this trail. I'll be solo as well and am worried about wildlife. Did you bring bear spray or anything of the sort? Not sure if bear spray works for mountain lions...
Bears are skittish, if a mountain lion wants to get you, it will get you. Don't worry about it, you'll be out there with other riders.
How many time can you record with one battery ? I have a Hero 4 Black and I can only record 45 min with one battery
Yep, only 45 minutes. I bring a lot of batteries.
Yeah, I wouldn't mind some long videos. Maybe you could do a normal length video, then a long "director's cut" or something for the hard core viewers (like me!).
Nice, I'll keep that in mind!
Do you ever smash into hikers coming from the opposite direction?
Nice elevation! And by the way you are being watched
Hahaha, nooo, I don't want nightmares!
+BK-XC no nightmares, it's just the 2,700 of us subs
Nice work dude, I feel your pain on this ride! I missed the Tire Mountain turn and my ride turned into a 32 mile 5800 feet of climbing on a speci enduro 29er 1x 30t. what ride was more soul crushing, the ATCA or comfortably numb at Whistler?

Awesome, glad you could get a little info on trails from my vids! I didn't ride Mckenzie or Bend this time around.
Keep doing what your doing! Enjoying the videos. Come check out Jackson Wyoming sometime we a ton of amazing trails and big descents!
Nice! I'll put it on the list!
I rode both trails this summer, the Mckenzie river trail has a lot of hikers on it and at times feels more like a hiking trail than bike trail. what bike rack 13:05
1up USA it's fantastic. I have a video about it, search my channel.
Nice downhill trail. you should of played the latto that day, not everday you get stung twice.
Hahaha seriously!
Beautiful trail! & you can make the videos longer, I'm sure no one minds.
Thanks man! Maybe I will next time!
Great vid! What a beautiful trail. What did you think of the ergo grips?
Thanks! It's been too long to remember how the grips felt!
how do those grips feel? btw I dunno if it matter lol but I was the asked you about your east coast trip. I asked where in the east coast you guys going
I don't remember how those grips felt, it's been too long!
I don't even own a mountain bike and I can't stop watching your videos lol. Since I'm commenting I need your help because hopefully soon I'll get one. Hi. Nice Video. How much was the shuttle ride?
I think it was $25. Check out the description and do a little Googlin'.
Sweet trails, mean ass bugs!.
Hahaha, my sentiments exactly
shout out Oregon baby
I'd watch a two hour version.
Nice, I might be able to make that happen.

You should get a newer Garmin and map your courses!
I heard a rumor the new GoPro will have gps built in, so that could be cool! I do have maps of my ride in the description, though, if you just mean Strava.
