This page & david c barnett are two of my favourite channels on youtube both cover similar part of the eta space I would love a collab and thank you brittney for your great contribution, personally I am not a fan of codey sanchez I feel she sells a dream to make money off courses off the back of the uneducated & ignorant to ETA
Thanks! This particular video is such a powerful story, that I made a commentary video about it here: 90 Day to Deal Express Small Business Acquisition 6 Key Takeaways ua-cam.com/video/uN8pZ5cCcic/v-deo.html
Thank you! Fortunately, that personal finance podcast was the sole piece of content I’d heard from Codie. I did not realize she was a polarizing influencer until after this podcast aired.
@@trixiepockets hey trixie you were amazing on this podcast so helpful so insightful I would highly recommend going over to davids c barnetts page he covered your video its a great watch & maybe you can collab with him, codie sanchez is good in the aspect of spreading the word of eta however I disagree with the way she talks of ‘no money down deals’ as if it is low risk when I wasn’t educated in the space I loved her videos but the more I learnt & found this podcast & david’s I grew my knowledge substantially to understand how risky alot of what she preaches is. I really respect you for taking the time & having such an open transparent discussion you have brought immense value & learnings for us so thank you very much God bless you & your family
She is very well-grounded in business - a "can do" mindset like that might be all you need. I have to say, she has 'movie star' good looks and I thought of Kathy Ireland, also a highly-capable businessperson, who founded an immensely successful business ('Kathy Ireland Worldwide'). Great episode! The encouraging part was learning how to take success in one business and leverage those skills into an unrelated business. It's not always clear, when you've succeeded for a long time, what's outside the 'comfort zone', and it's encouraging to hear they're making it work. .
SDE by definition does not include include salary for the owner. Idea being, it is "discretionary" earnings which may or may not go into the pocket of the owner. So $300k SDE means whatever the owner wants to pay themselves as salary or to live on needs to come out of that 300.
@AcquiringMinds thanks for the reply. Familiar with your description, but I've found some use the term interchangeably while not always meaning the way you described SDE. I just wanted to confirm it wasn't $300k + an owner salary. $300k of SDE makes for some tight margins on $2M of sales, especially when accounting for the high interest rates on the business loan. I'd encourage the owners to raise prices. It probably isn't a lack of capital unless there are receivable issues with the sales cycle. It's a lack of profitable free cash flow.
@@gabelumby149 You're right to press on that. And every business buyer should, in every case, push to understand exactly how the SDE or EBITDA or adjusted EBIDTA is calculated. Because the definitions of these are squishy, and the terms used interchangeably (including, I'm loathe to admit, by me on occasion), you cannot assume what the reported SDE includes or doesn't include in a given listing. Always ask.
@@AcquiringMindsI’ve been under the impression SDE is after an owner has taken a salary. But you guys are saying no? SDE is where an owner must take both salary and profit distributions from?
There were a fair amount of cautionary tales in this episode. Wishing these folks the best of luck.
Thank you 🙏

Did the $300-$350k SDE include or NOT include a reasonable salary for the owner?
