I think the 3rd installment is way better than the 1st and 2nd movie. Sharpness and HDR highlighs are the best. And compared to the streaming version this bluray has better deeper color.
Abdullah Yislam You are absolutely correct. I streamed it thru Fandango and was wondering how much better is the the physical copy would be and it is definitely worth the purchase. Colors and sharpness is probably top 5 of all movies out right now. It’s amazing

I think Chapter 2 was the best Wick. Lots of action and a good story to boot. Not sure if Chapter 3 is the best Atmos but Ready Player One has an amazing Atmos track IMO. The race at the beginning of the movie is demo worthy.
They each have their strengths.. I feel that Wick 1 was more focused narratively.. Wick 2 was the looker and had better ambience.. Wick 3 to me was more action focused and certainty did that well.
Chapter 2 is probably the best-sounding 4k I own. Everything else like Marvel Studios movies sound REALLY quiet in comparison.
When I played it in the first 10 minutes, I found the same thing you described. It was quiet. I thought the sound track was compressed. Dynamics and bass impact were gone. My receiver volume was set at 44 where JW1 and JW2 sound their best. I cranked up to 55 and wow. JW3 came alive with excellent dynamics and impact. Great bass as well. The shotgun sound was scary at the last gun fight. So increase the volume and you will be impressed. The JW trilogy is now my reference for demo.
Part 2 is one of my go to demo discs, I think it looks the best of the three hands down.

Same here. I sometimes doubt whether my subwoofer is working or not.

Look forward to picking this up on disc. Picked it up in 4k Atmos from both iTunes, and Vudu. The picture was very sharp, great colors. Sound track was pretty good. Didn't get tons of subwoofer on the digital copies either.

I just upgraded my home theater system with a new receiver (11.1 channels) and speakers for the front, center and surround. The improvements are very noticeable. I checked out JW1, 2, and 3 again with the upgraded system. I turned the volume to reference level. JW2 and 3 are very close in terms of sound. JW1 soundtrack is less dynamic and open. For JW3, you really need to turn up the volume to get the dynamics and bass impact. The final battle is the highlight to show off Dolby Atmos. The shotgun blasts were startling. It sounded real and scary. I felt the impact on my chest on almost every gun shot. Broken glass sound was impressive. There weren't much information in the height channels for all three movies though. But the dynamics and bass impact make up for it. I highly recommend the John Wick trilogy for the movie, the video and audio quality. They are now my reference movies.
So far I like JW2 better than JW1 in terms of audio and video. JW 2 gun shots sound effect is like real. It can be scary at times. Will get JW3 4K and let you know how it compares to the previous two.

I liked Parabellum but it wasn't as good as the first two. Overlong lenght, seemingly endless gunfights that went on for far too long, and a twist that kinda fell short for me. Still a entertaining movie with a briljant first act but I just like the first two Wick's more.

I felt the 2nd one is the best followed by the first. I really didn't like the 3rd

John wick 1 has great iconic moments and shots.....3s knife fight might my favorite scene in the series.....and I felt it should've ended on that fight.....or at least that fight should've been the lead up to the end fight scene

I thought this sounded the best in the Dolby Prime theater. Of course the gun fights, but also that last fight with all the breaking glass.
No biggie but 2.39:1 does not necessarily mean black bars if doing projection. I have a 2.35:1 screen so every Tuesday when i fire up the depth charges in U-571 (in 2.35:1) no bars, just right for concussive bombardment.
The black bars are encoded on the disc that's why I mention it.
@@therealshanelee Understood. I'm looking into short throw - now that we're talking about black bars, makes me think they might be an issue on short throw, need to research this a bit more. Keep doing what you're doing.

JW3 looks sharp with very nice black and shadows. For some reasons, the recording level is low compared to JW1 and JW2. I usually set my receiver volume at 45 for both JW1 and 2. I cranked up the volume to 56 for JW3 and the dynamics and bass impact all came back. In fact, the sound track is excellent. The shotgun sound was scary at the last gun battle. Every shot comes with an impact on my chest. Although it doesn’t have much activity from the height channels, it makes up for it with outstanding dynamics and bass impact. I would give it a 9 for the sound. The JW trilogy is now my reference for 4K demo.

No atmos speakers for me just plain old 5.1, did like the movie, still think the original is best.
Same here, 5.1. Atmos is still the way to go because of the wider, deeper, overall richer sound stage.

Hey guys. I just bought my first home theater speakers. They are Dolby Atmos Klipsch speakers. My question is, do you need a Dolby Atmos TV for the speakers (5.1 channel) to work? My lg TV has DTS Hd supported.

Dj Wolfville Ive got 2 Klipsch Reference 15”, first only one as my receiver had only one output. Then I got a new receiver with 2 outputs and added a second one to make the sound more even around the room. If your receiver has 2 outputs, and you can afford another subwoofer, try it out. You can always return it if you dont like it
